Hey all, Lord Z here! I just went pen shopping...ish. I went to an antique mall, looking for pens from people who know nothing about pens, and so miss-price them. Anyway, I found a nice vintage pen for $50, and it was gold-nibbed, so I thought I would look it up. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. I cannot find the pen anywhere online. So here I am. What I need: Model. Price. Barrel material. Anything else you can scrounge up on it. Characteristics: MISC: I found the company: Imperial Pen and Pencil Co. Went bankrupt in 1951. Other than that, I can't find much. Nib: 14k, fine or medium, springy, maybe minor flex. Nib Markings: Imperial, 14k, USA Body: Black, tapered ends, gold clip, silver band on barrel marked "Imperial" with a crown. Action: lever fill. Large-ish ink sac. Measurements: I have not measured the pen yet, but if you need me to, I can. It is very big, perhaps the size of a Conway Stewart Wellington and similar in shape. Photos: Thanks a ton, Lord Z

Hello there I just acquired my first Montblanc fountain pen, but it's very old and has a lot of problems. There is no text on it - only "MONT BLANC" written on the cap and the clip, so I've had troubles identifying it myself. If anyone has an idea what pen this might be, please tell me. The nib says: WARRANTED 14 CT CSMI IRIDIUM First of all, I haven't been able to fill it. The top has an etched line which I suspected screwed of to reveal a button, but with a closer inspections, I've concluded it's not a seperate part. I'm now pretty sure that it screws at the section, but I've tried everything, and it's just stuck. Can anyone confirm this? I've tried to dip it ink and write with a little bit anyways. The nib is in a really bad shape, and is the most scratchy I've ever tried. It's placed asymmetrically on the feed, so I'm guessing the nib can be changed? What standard would that be? Look at the photos, and I would be glad to get some answers to my questions.

Hi. I love the nib on the Hero 329 old version, but really hate the rubber ink reservoir, it is annoying on a number of levels, and depending on the ink (noodler's bulletproof black in particular), it can be quite problematic at times. I was going to post a topic on whether the Hero 329 can be fitted with a slide/piston converter, but I figure that might too involved, if even possible at all. Instead, anyone knows whether there is a Hero pen with the same exact nib as the 329 old version, but which can take a converter? P.S. I read before that the new 329 is not as good as the old, then later I read that the issue is that the nib on the new version is much smaller, and hence scratchier, which is the reason I would rather avoid such a nib in any new pen I buy. Thanks for all suggestions.

I'm just starting to dip into collecting more vintage and retro pens, and I've settled on focusing on cartridge/converter pens (with a slight emphasis on Sheaffers...) Anyways, I absolutely love the look of the old striated pens, especially the greens and the reds, but all the ones I've seen so far have been lever fill. Does anyone know of a c/c model that comes in striated coloration, or is this a lost cause?

a few days ago, I had the misfortune of being handed a Waterman 52 to try out. It looked really ordinary until the nib hit the paper. Whoaaaaaaaaaa.... that is the most extraordinary nib I've ever had the chance to use. It is what I wanted my Noodler's Ink Ahab to be. It was perfect. It was old and kinda...well old. Now the question is...is there a modern day equivalent to this pen? Do I have to go vintage? I've seen some mint/NOS Waterman52 going for upwards of $800. Ever since that encounter, I can't think of any other pen. I really really love the perfect feel of that nib.

Hi fellow FPN'ers, Does anyone of you guys know what kind of model this Cross inkwell is, and probably the history? I think the cap is made of 18ct (14ct?) gold and the bottle of glass (?) The weight of the inkwell is 700 grams, so very heavy! The inkwell had a price tag of 395 euro and was found in a closet in our office, nobody knows how its ended up there! Thanks for the comments!
