  1. I recently ordered a Jinhao 100 Centennial from China, which should be arriving imminently. I realised - too late! - that the EF nib I have specified is not an original Jinhao nib. So, assuming I am not happy with it: - anyone know what make/style of nib I am likely to get? - can it easily be replaced with a “better” EF nib? - if, so what would you recommend? I recall reading that there was a switch from #5 to #6 nibs recently for this design, but I don’t normally mess with my pens these days, so any detailed advice would be welcome. A fine line is always my clear preference.
  2. Hi, you might recall me from my Kaweco Classic Sport and Faber Castell Loom/E-Motion pens. Yesterday, I was cleaning my Faber Castell Loom for the first time when it wrote desaturated (ink starvation) and as I was reassembling it I discovered something. I found out the larger #5 nib unit on the Loom enables enough friction for the nib to be extended from the feed, protruding the ink slot over the feed almost 5mm. In my opinion, this is interesting enough to report back. I tried the same with the Kaweco nib, but it wouldn't hold securely without sliding back into the feed, even manual pressure was enough to reinsert it to the end. Is it common to adjust the extension alignment of collared nib units? I would like some pointers to the effects of extending #5 size nib units out as much as a #6. Currently, it seems like it made the pen wetter & narrower while the nib itself became more flexible. I cannot say this is too simple of an adjustment to pass up. It can turn nails more springy and fix a dry flow into more moderate without permanently changing the pen characteristics. Telescopic nibs - sounds interesting.
  3. I am not sure it this is right place to post this question. So, Moderator, if you wish to move, please do. I have a lovely Delta Horsepower given to me for Christmas by my daughter. But it has an EF steel nib. While it is a nice, wet nib, I really prefer stub/italic nibs. So I would like to see if it can be swapped out. I have a few questions that I would appreciate input on: 1). Has anyone else had success in swapping out a Delta nib? 2). Can the nib/feed section be removed? Or are they glued in place? If removable, is there another brand of nib/feed section that would fit (i.e. Franklin-Christoph, etc.)? 3). Is the nib itself removable? 4). It appears that the Delta nib in the pen is a #6. What other #6 nib would you recommend? 5). Any other thoughts/considerations/recommendations? I love this pen, and especially since it was given to me by my daughter. I could live with the EF nib, if there is no other alternative. Thank you for your input!
