Hey guys: I fell in love with Noodler's Navajo Turquoise when I bought a sample last year. I am finally ready for a new bottle of ink, so that is at the top of my list. But then I saw Noodler's American Eel Turquoise, and it looks extremely similar. I have a few pens that are quite dry writers, so I'm always on the lookout for inks that write wet. Can anyone suggest if I should get Eel Turquoise or Navajo Turquoise? Has anyone tried both? Thanks for the help! -lbr218 swabs courtesy of GouletPens.com

This ink goes down a little lighter purple, and dries a little grayer. On some papers, it looks like a gray-purple. It's a pretty and unusual color. A fairly unique color. It's got good flow and water resistance. No feathering. It's on my list to get a bottle. Not the top of the list, but I like it.

Now this is my orange ink. Great great shading. Shades from orangish yellow to orangish red. The scan doesn't do it justice. Not water resistant. But then I'm sure you know that. You don't buy this ink for signing checks.

I'm trying to make up my mind on this ink. On the one hand, it's a nice green color, a little different from other greens that I have. It's waterproof, bulletproof ink, so it's not going anywhere. And it dries really fast. On the other hand, there's the feathering. It soaks into the paper so fast it spreads and feathers and bleeds through to the other side. Now I'm pretty much always using a fine nib in my pens. If you are a flex/stub/double broad type pen user, this is probably not your ink. It managed to stay where I put it with my fine nib, but there was some spreading of the ink as it went down on the paper. Just means it writes a broader line than you intend. An extra fine nib or maybe some higher end clairfontaine or rhodia paper would probably tame this bad gator a little. Hmmm...

Part of the v-mail series of inks. They are reproductions or recreations of vintage ink formulas from the 1940s. All named after aspects of that really big thing that happened in the 1940s. This is a nice orange color. Doesn't have the shading of Apache Sunset. But it did indeed have some fairly impressive water resistance for an orange ink. Dry time was nice. Felt a little thinner than Apache Sunset. Not as bold as Edelstein Mandarin or Organics Studio's Neon. Could be too light for a lot of uses, but then, you wouldn't use orange ink in business situations anyway, would you? edit: Also my first review trying out Staples Sustainable Earth sugarcane based paper. Not bad. Got a spiral notebook of this with perforated edges. Not bad for feathering and shading on inks. Doesn't have serious bleedthrough issues. Paper is thinner, which is nice for when you want thin paper. But it's not for people who hate showthrough with every fiber of their inked being.

Do Diamine produce large bottles of ink? I know Noodler''s did in the past, up to a gallon on special request; just wondered if diamine were able to do the same...

Dear all, Boring backstory... I've got a Parker 51 that works wonderfully. It's an heirloom pen and as it writes so wonderfully I no longer take it out and about. As such I'm in the market for a new 51 copy, a pen that I won't be fussed about loosing, breaking, nib down dropping, loaning... you get the picture Question: Can you wonderful folks list any 51 copies, and your experiences with them for me? If so I'd really appreciate it! I've heard the Hero 100 is a good imitation, one comment on fpn even suggested that the Hero 100 is a "slight improvement" on the 51. Could this be so! And if so how? I recently obtained one of the Jinhao Chinese Pens a) because it was ridiculously cheap, I wanted to see how it would hold up to my Meisterstuck 146, and c) it has had some very good reviews recently. I filled the Jinhao X450 with the same ink that is in the MB ... MB Midnight Blue. The Jinhao wrote beautifully for a USD $0.98 pen. The pen is very weighty though. Now for the real surprise ... After the converter ran out, I flushed and filled the Jinhao's converter with Noodler's Whaleman's Sepia (a favorite of mine). The X450 skipped and hard started for the duration of the converter. 4 times, I primed the feed with a small twist of the plunger. She worked wonderfully with the Sepia, but only for a paragraph of cursive and then back to skips and starts. When the Sepia was used up, I flushed and cleaned thoroughly, refilled with the MB and she returned to a flawless wet flow with no issues at all. Lubrication? Bottom line, though I own a half dozen Noodler's pens, I will never use anything but MB in a MB and this was a real eye opener for me between these inks in this large Sino pen. The Noodler's inks work well with their namesakes flex pens, but this opens my eyes to the individuality of inks and the pens we use them with. Best,

In my quest to find a simple, back to basics, no frills eyedropper, I stumbled across the Noodler's Aerometric Ebonite filler. I am totally digging this pen! Smooth simple body, just BASIC!! The problem is...I can't seem to find anything on where to buy it now. would anyone have any leads on where I could buy one or have one that they would be willing to sell? What's A Cursive Hand That Looks Good With Modern "flex Pens"?

Hi all, Does anyone know of a good script/lettering style that would look elegant when written small (under 8mm majuscule height) with a modern flex fountain pen such as a Noodler's Ahab, Konrad, or Serwex/Dilli? These pens don't always have quick returns, but they allow the inks I use to shade to my liking. I've been using a copperplate variant, but it's just nowhere near what it needs to be to look appealing. They can't really do quick turn arounds with the hairlines/swells and it comes off just looking like lazy copperplate with too much ink. Any ideas? Feel free to post pics if you think of something. Hello, I am thinking about buying some nice, black bulletproof ink. I have two candidates: X-feather and HoD from Noodler's. Has someone used these two to compare them? I have a few questions: 1) Which has better performace on cheap paper(feathering, bleeding...)?(copy paper or some cheap notebooks, 60-80 g/m2 ) 2) Which has faster drying time? (I'm using Lamy Vista F)? I want to use them for study notes from lectures, quick writting/drying needed Thank you for your answers

I have never used any Noodler's inks - even though my current go-to pen is an Ahab. I am planning on buying some to whip up a batch of Black Swan in North African Violets - recipe here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/208811-black-swan-in-north-african-violets/ However, I want to try some other colors too, so here is my question for you - What is(are) your favorite ink(s) from Noodler's and why? I have a very dear friend whom I only get to see about once a year, because we live a continent apart. We swap gifts when we see each other - he's an ex-pat Brit who misses certain snack foods from the Motherland, and I'm a pen geek. We're meeting up in a week or so when I'm over for work, and he just sent me a photo of something he's bought for me in response to my wittering about my favourite flexy old Waterman via email. Note excellent choice for flexy shading. I will be filling my entire duty-free allowance with Scotch whisky to say thankyou.

What does it take to make ink? It's interesting to read about boutique ink brands like Noodler's and Private reserve; and I've often thought how they got into it. I would think that they start with distilled water, and then add water soluble dyes of various descriptions. It would be interesting to know what other considerations might there be.

Is noodler's standard bulletproof black too thick for Lamy 2000? There is almost little flow in my Lamy 2000 fine nib... Noodler's is so wet in my other pens. I wonder if my copy of Lamy 2000 is wrong or noodler's black and 2000 is a poor combination.

Hi all! Does anyone have any experience using Noodler's more permanent inks in a Lamy 2000? If so have you noticed any staining to the ink window? I regularly use Noodler's stuff in my cheaper pens but I'm considering buying a Lamy 2000 and wanted to make sure the ink window would stay useable. Thanks in advance, Badger

Hello all, One of my favorite inks is Noodler's 54th Massachusetts. I like it as a daily ink in one of my pens because it's a dark enough blue/black that I feel it's appropriate for just about any task (not that I'm in a legal setting or anything anyway). I have noticed, though, that it tends to creep a lot. I thought at first it might be the pen I was using, but I tried it in other pens and had the same result. I recently started using it in an Edison Pearlette and it's doing it with that as well. Is this just a characteristic of this ink or is it just maybe a bad batch? Anyone else noticing this issue? If like me, you're UK based, and are missing certain qualities from Noodler's inks then I'm interested to know how you feel. I just paid a small fortune to get some lubricated ink yesterday, as it invariably has to come from abroad. We have our own, home grown and chromatically innovative Diamine up in Liverpool, and I want to press them to be more creative in this regard. Virtually everyone would benefit as Nathan is having a hard time keeping up, and Diamine already have so many admirers worldwide.

I found the Noodler's nib creaper for 13 dollars shipped and the Serwex 162 with flex nib for 12 dollars shipped. Which one do you guys think is better? I've heard that Serwex pens are less fussy, but the video here: shows the creaper has way more flex.

I must partially apologize. I no longer have a scanner. I have a camera, but no light box as of yet. I am working on that. I have attached a PDF as that is what the Xerox Workcentre scanner that the church that I clean has available. Noodlers Widowmaker Texas Bluebonnet Texas Live Oak Texas Pecan The Alamos Twilight Comanche Rouge Tanned Armadillo Lexington Grey Private Reserve Chocolat DC Supershow Blue Aurora Black Pelican Brilliant Black 4001 Higgins Black Magic Drawing Ink (Not FP Safe)I taped a sheet with all of these inks in my window that faces mostly west. I taped them up on Jan. 13, 2013 and pulled them down on Aug 3, 2013. They stayed up for almost 8 months. The Comanche Rouge almost disappeared. The Alamo's Twilight lost the red. The Chocolat seems to have turned a lighter brown. The DC Supershow Blue lost most of it's blue, turning grey. There is still a touch of blue, though it is not visible in the scan. The Pelikan Black MAY have lost a touch of it's black, but the is a subjective call. The rest of the inks seem to have kept their color. I'm happy about that. Right now my favorites are the two blacks, Texas Bluebonnet and Chocolat. Always have a pen loaded with these. If HOD is just as black, I will switch to it for it's bulletproof capabilities. A serendipitous mix of Iroshizuku Yama-budo and Ku-jaku has given me an ink with all the lovely indigo color of KTC and none of the fuss. I bought a Noodlers Ahab from Goulet Pens and I LOVE it. However, my foster dog did not appreciate my attention being split between him and the letter I was writing so he flicked dear Ahab out of my hand. The pen is fine but the nib is beyond repair. I can find all kinds of non-flex replacement nibs out there on the interwebs but my Google-Fu fails when it comes to finding a flexible replacement. Does anyone have any ideas on where I might be able to find something? Thanks for your help folks.

I am looking for a bottled ink for fountain pens that is close in color and qualities to Pentel EnerGel black. I know those pens use a gel hybrid ink, so I am looking for something close. They are my favorite ballpoints, maybe tied with V5 Precise RT. I will be using the ink in a Lamy Al-Star EF. I have Noodler's Bad Black Moccasin, but there is no sheen, and it has a wierd green tone to it. I want pure black. I do not want India ink or carbon or pigmented inks. So which ink is closest to what I am looking for? Pure black is a must (no color undertones, not even gray), some sheen would be a bonus. I do not see anything in Noodler's line like that except maybe X-Feather, which I have had no experience with. I believe Bad Black Moccasin and X Feather are supposed to be the darkest Noodler's inks, despite HoD, so I would venture to guess that Noodler's is out. I have not tried Infinite Black by PR. I have heard good things, but not necessarily about its color. Does anyone have experience with Aurora Black or J Herban Perle Noire? Do they have these wanted qualities? Do you have any other ink suggestions? Thanks ahead for the input.
