  2. A new pen is now available in the Visconti Van Gogh Collection - Shoes. https://www.penchalet.com/blog/visconti-van-gogh-shoes-pen-collection/ Vincent Van Gogh painted many still lifes of shoes and boots early in his career during the time he was living in Paris. This painting, titled "Shoes", was the only painting of footwear during his time in Aryles. The shoes with the laces undone are seen on the red tile floor of the Yellow House he resided in Aryles. Visconti continues its tribute to Van Gogh's work with the US release of a new pen; Shoes. Visconti has worked hard to formulate palettes of color that accurately reflect the technique and emotion of each of Van Gogh's paintings. Never before have pens been created that were inspired from a specific canvas - difficult work considering the diversity of objects and techniques used by Van Gogh. Through meticulous and painstaking choice of color and palette mix, each Visconti pen is unique and has emerged to represent a specific Van Gogh painting. The name of the painting and artist are delicately engraved around the pen's ring, and each pen is packed into a unique gift box that is complemented with a faithfully reproduced canvas of the painting. The pen itself utilizes Visconti's eighteen-faceted design, the many edges enhancing the vivid colors of the pen. As always, each pen may be personalized using Visconti's patented 'My Pen System,' and Visconti has employed their popular magnetic closure system. The new pen is available in fountain, rollerball, and ballpoint. Product Specifications Item Codes and Retail Price: 78323 - Fountain Pen $289.00 78423 - Rollerball $259.00 78623 - Ballpoint $225.00 Material: Natural Vegetal Resin Trims: Silver Lock System: Magnetic Lock Filling System: Converter or Ink Cartridge Customization: My Pen System Nib: Finely Engraved Steel Nib (F, M, B Packaging: Gift Box featuring a canvas reproduction of the painting

    Yet Another Addict On Fpn

I think I was nine when I found my dead grandpa's parker fountain pen. I never new what model it was and lost it before caring about it; but I remember the golden arrow on top of that machined-aluminum body, and I remember how that 'silver' nib amazed me. Moreover, it had an 'M' in a circle engraved on the barrel (grandpa's surname?); so personal, so mythic, so extraordinary. It was not the old pistol that was also there, in that old leather suit case of his, it was that fountain pen (can't avoid the tears just right now, sorry). Time passed and fp's remained a closet, postponed passion that I could not share with those careless friends of mine (did they also keep their passion silently for themselves?). Lately (couple years ago) it came back with renewed strength and this lasts months (I moved to a different country, started a new job and a new life) I decided to spend some time, money and ink to let it grow. And here I am...

    Hello

Hello, I'm from the states but lived in France for a while where I first used a FP. Fast-forward 25 years and I was writing on the whiteboard at work and realized how atrocious my handwriting has become! So in my normal fashion, I created a game for myself. I have to write a bit daily and actively try to improve my penmanship. The school part is on hold waiting for the new release of Spencerian Handwriting book which will be my exercises. The quizzes, if you will, are writing letters each week (can't remember the last time I sent a personal letter snail-mail). Since I know myself I already bought the prize (a new camera) which will force me to follow through! After reading a number of reviews I purchased a Pilot VP, some Tomoe River loose sheet to practice on, and three trial-sized Iroshizulu inks (which I can't remember the names of). I've been very impressed with the community here. The thorough reviews, random swaps, and overall helpful attitudes are what made me want to join. A few randoms (trying to be funny): - Greatest new FP user fear: that I won't finish any of the bottles of ink before they expire - Greatest new FP user hope: to one day write an ink review that is as good as Sandy1's

    New From Visconti! Watermark Ltd!

Visconti's latest offering is truly spectacular. The logo is repeated along the body and cap of the pen, and given the name 'Watermark'. The design of the pen identifies strongly with the Visconti brand, much like a watermark is an identifying pattern in paper. The filigree is cut out from a solid tube of sterling silver and requires over 20 manual operations to reach the final status. The Watermark demonstrator is available in rollerball or fountain pen and limited to 888 pieces. The fountain features the patented Visconti Double Reservoir Power Filler, a unique filling system that allows a greater ink capacity and safe usage during air flights. The fountain is further enhanced with Visconti's large, 23kt Palladium Dreamtouch nib, available in XF, F, M, B, BB and Stub. New Pelikan M120 Se Comparisons

I know there has been a lot of discussion and speculation about the recent/new Pelikan SE M120. Controversy seems to revolve around the price tag of this pen and the relative lower costs of one of the 'originals' from the original release in the 50s. Well, be that as it may. This new pen is not a re-release of that beloved classic: it's a re-designed 'classic' in its own right. And in case you're asking, I paid for mine... Got it on Friday and I apologise for the awful quality of the following pics as although I trained as a professional photographer, I never had to deal with the minutiae of close-up stuff. Just the humdrum of magazines, photojournalism and so on. Not pens! so, bear with me. Firstly, the new M120 is larger than the old one - assuming that the M140 I have by way of comparison, was/is the same size as the original M120. It is larger! The following two pics show a few comparisons but were taken with a camera where the distortion doesn't quite take care of the perspective. L to R: M101N Red Tortoise; M100N; M140; M205; new M120 and finally M600. Then some of the above, un-capped. L to R: M140; M205 and new M120. I know it's not so clear as explained but the new M120 has virtually the same barrel and section size as the M200/400 pens. Grest to use un-posted! Finally, a series of the relevant ones, against a ruler - the previous pics were taken on 5mm squared paper. M140 measured capped M140 measured un-capped M400 measured capped M400 measured un-capped And finally: New M120 measured capped New M120 measured un-capped So; a real and pleasant surprise! A 'new' pen! I bought mine with a F nib and it really does behave very well. As it happens, I'm using the new Pelikan 4001 Dark Green in it and that too was a very pleasant surprise. A really nice ink - I'm just doing my paltry review of it later. So; don't be put off by the 'hype' that surrounds what people call a 're-release' of a pen. In this case, Pelican have got it right - it's a different beast! Lash out, and enjoy!

    Greetings From Singapore

G'day, I am Bill, English but living and working in Singapore. I have always had a liking of pens from a very early age, My Aunts (That is Aunts with a capital A - they may not have been witches but they knew how ntom make a young boy laugh) worked in an accountancy firm and would bring home pens for me - I had a refillable ball point at one time but have since lost it. Used fountain pens at school but having been taught to write when I was 3 by my grandmother in a cursive style then being forced to learn italic writing when I went to school at 5 kind of reduced my writing to similar to a doctors illegible scrawl. Not helped by the fact I am a professional engineer and think faster than I can write. Anyway, long story short, my wife is Chinese and I visited China for the first time in 2009. I came across a boxed Hero Flying Eagle pen in a shop and was hooked on Hero pens. I like the special editions particularly and now have about 40 or 50! Particularly impressive are the Parker 51 lookalikes which retail for about 1US$ each in China and write brilliantly. I need some space to store these pens so am constructing purpose built storage from old cigar cases etc, work in progress at the moment is a Gin Thye (Mooncake) box which should store 24 pens and two bottles of ink (Chinese of course - Boss (Lao ban) brand) Next I have two cigar boxes to fit out and then plan to restore my old writing slope / box and fit it with custom storage.

    Newbie From India Here.

Hello all, Let me begin by saying, it's a privilege being here. I am a late bloomer, having discovered the joy of fountain pen quite recently. It all began a few weeks back, when i was struggling to overcome a massive writer's block which had been haunting me for quite a while now and as a result my first novel got delyaed. So far, i was using my latop to write my novel. I thought perhaps it was the boring white screen or a mental disconnect between my fingers and the keyboard that affected my creative side. It was then i had the brainwave, why don't I write the old fashioned way, with pen and paper. Naturally roller balls and ballpoints are clumsy for my use, so i decided to use a fountain pen. I googled for a good affordable fountain pen and by happy chance i discovered the Fountain Pen Network. Since that day, i read reviews upon reviews of various wonderful pens. Finally i settled on the Lamy Safari. I visited William Penn store and tried out a safari. I have never encountered such smooth writing in any other pen. It writes even better than my dad's Mont Blanc rollerball (just my opinion). The praise for Lamy is completely justified and I went ahead and purchased a matte charcoal Lamy Safari. I got both the converter and a lamy cartridge complimentary. Back at home, i discovered or should i say re- discovered the experience of writng with hand. Ideas seem to flow more smoothly, though i haven't fully ironed out my writer's block. But i definitely feel an improvement in output. The Lamy writes so beautifully, i may never touch again a roller ball or ballpoint ever in my life. I am hooked, absolutely hooked on fountain pens. Already I have decided to look into the Lamy 2000 or a Pilot Vanishing Point. The Twsbi looks great and definitely i would like to get my greedy hands on that. Perhaps i should look into importing it into India from Goulet pens or similar websites. The Indian fountain pens look good to, like the Ratnam pens, Oliver, Guider etc, but they are quite hard to come by especially the Ratnam. Though I am a new Fountain Pen enthusiast, i will definitely look into increasing my collection. My sincere thanks to all who have read my beginning journey into the world of founatin pens.

Hi... I Have Some Fountain Pens

Hello everyone! I found this site through a google search because I have some fountain pens, and I wanted to learn the value because I'm looking to sell. I just got out of a 5 month relationship will a real pen lover. Unfortunately, I was never able to match his zeal for the pens. I think they're beautiful, but I'm a messy writer and I don't like the idea of having ink stained hands. I'm also clumsy and can only imagine the kind of luck I'd have carrying around glass bottles of ink. My dear ex purchased four different pens for me during our time together...despite the very obvious sign that I never opened or used the previous pen. To add further insult to the blatant disregard for my actual gift preferences, I have very small hands and he kept gifting me with GIANT pens! I realized that he must have only wanted to do something nice for me because I do love to write, so I called and asked him if he would like them back...he very impolitely described some colorful things that I could do with the pens instead. I'd prefer to find a home for them with another pen lover. Hopefully, I'll figure out how to use this forum and you'll see them listed in the classifieds soon. They're all 100% brand new and unused, so I'd like to try to get something close to the values I've seen online. And I might just use some of the money to buy a pack of erasable Bic pens out of spite.

    New To The Forum, Hello.

Hi, I am new to the forum and just wanted to say hello. I am a collector and seller of pens. I mostly deal with fountain pens. I love the look and feel of a well built pen and have a large collection. It all started when I was a young boy. My grandfather passed away when I was about two years old. So I never really got to know him. As I grew up I would stay with my grandmother in the house that my grandfather had built for them. I remember going through the drawers of a desk down in the basement and discovering some weird cigar shaped objects that were made of a plastic material. After looking at them for a few minutes, I took one of them up to my grandmother and asked her what it was. She told me that I had discovered one of my grandfathers fountain pens. With another trip down into the basement and some searching, we discovered the rest of my grandfather's fountain pen collection. She explained to me what they were and how they worked, and even more important to me, how much my grandfather loved these old pens and used them daily up to the time that he passed away. It was quite a delight for her as she had not seen them for some time. We has some fun trying to clean one up and fill the ink bladder so that I could try writing with one of them. It was a great experience and I will never forget the love that my grandmother had for my grandfather. Since then I was hooked and have always loved the look and feel of a good fountain pen. Thanks and Hello, Lynn
