  1. My son came back from a Flea Market today with some MB Classic Platinum BallPoint and Pencil Sets with with a MB Case. All have a corporate logo suggesting that these were gifts or presentation sets. They are NIB, surely not fakes. In my world (retired professor), ball points/pencils with corporate logos are found on $0.20 throwaway pens. So for me, these are pretty interesting. In general, engraved names/imprints detract from values on most of the pens I collect. But in this case I am unsure. I will say that with a little Simichrome the logos could be gone - but not from the fantastic leather MB 2-pen cases. Anyway, are there specialty collectors for these high-end advertising sets?
  2. I recently had a Mont Blanc Diamond LeGrand fail. The pen was in my travel bag on a trip. When I opened the bag and checked my pen holder, I noticed the barrel had broken off at the end. Either the bag took a sharp impact or the barrel failed. I contacted a local Mont Blanc authorized dealer regarding repair and they indicated there was no option for repair. It was purchased in 2011 in the UK from Herrod's who is an authorized dealer and all of the paperwork, receipts, and boxes are still in my possession. The dealer indicated the pen did not have a repair option and I should look at a new pen. Seems crazy for an $600 pen. The diamond cap and other parts are all still intact. The barrel failed at the spring on the back end. I simply want to order a replacement barrel, not an entirely new pen. What are my options and any suggestions as to an Authorized Dealer who may be able to get parts? Thank you. Chris

How Full Is My Ballpoint Refill?

Hi Guys, I rarely post on these forums, but when I do, I often have a question. This one is one that has been bugging me for a while. How do i know how much is left in my ballpoint refill? The obvious solution is not to think about it and accept that when it runs out it runs out, but it's not a satisfying solution. I use my starwalker carbon as a daily writer and often on poor paper quality, and on a few occasions it's appeared to run out when there actually was plenty left (I use the Barbados Blue, should that be of interest). Any tips and tricks would be appreciated. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's been a little bothered by this. Brgds,

    New Member Needs Help!

Hi, my name's Danny and I live in Romford, Essex, England. For years I have used/owned Parker fountain pens but I recently was given a Montblanc fountain pen. I wonder if anyone can help me determine if it's genuine. There is no serial number and the nib is all gold instead of gold/silver. Also, from pictures I have seen, the grip is white instead of black. I have seen from the photos here that the some came with an all gold nib but it says nothing that I can see (unless I missed it) about serial numbers. The nib is all gold and has engraved on it 4810 Montblanc logo with 'M' in the middle Montblanc 585 The cap has "Montblanc - Meisterstück No.146" The clip has "W Germany" stamped on it. I guess that may make it genuine but I've never seen one with a white grip like that before (see photo). I have been a Parker user for many years owning Duofolds mainly so I don't know much about Montblancs. I've attached a photo. Regards Danny *edit - I thought it came from a loft clearance but I've since been informed it wasn't. It was bought for me.

    Oyster Budo

I have a bottle of MB Oyster Grey and as much as I want to like it, I find it way too dry. I didn't want to waste it and was wondering what I could mix it with that may help with the dryness. I have this ink at my holiday home where I only have a few inks, so the choice is limited. The end result (see below) is 6 parts OG & 1 part Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo. The ink is still a little dry and next time I think I'll try 5 parts OG to 1 part YB. YB is so saturated it dominates OG, hence the 6:1 ratio. I like the colour. Unfortunately the pic. shows the ink as slightly more grey than in reality but it was taken with my iPad on a dull day.
  6. Hello. We were looking through grandmothers stuff and my eye stuck to few pens. One of them is Montblanc. I only find out that is something similar like Montblanc Starwalker Metal & Rubber Fineliner. But it's not the same as I have. Question - fake? Special edition? Have any clue what is worth, because ebay auctions info didn't helped. If you have any clue what I have - please let me know - thank you. Matas Lithuania

    Can't Unscrew New Mont Blanc

Hello all! I just received a Tribute to the Mont Blanc fountain pen for Christmas and the weirdest problem has arisen: I can't unscrew it to put the cartridge in. This is my first Mont Blanc, but certainly not my first fountain pen. I've tried unscrewing every part of the pen but nothing will budge. Am I doing something wrong or is the pen at fault? Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks! http://s28.postimg.org/451iqxkot/IMG_3450.jpg
  8. Hello Fountain Pen Network users, I am very new and ignorant about Fountain Pens. I came here in the hopes of learning some more. I am impressed at the wealth of knowledge, activity, and support that is found here. I am learning calligraphy. I have a somewhat vintage pen that needs a little restoration; I will attempt to submit a question in reference to that pen, in your Repairs Q and A subsection. Thank you for all your contributions. Jairo in Longwood.
  9. Dear Pen aficionados, I have a pen that is missing a cover [disk shaped, about 1/4" diameter] to the very top of the barrel, what looks like a black and white logo, not unlike the one on the other end but the missing one is somewhat smaller. I am attaching three photos, one a close up where it would go [it took me many attempts to take using an 11x mag lens in front of a smartphone lens], another [which I took from this website from the page showing a similar pen but a rollerball pen with link at https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/69972-montblanc-slimline-noblesse-vintage-rollerball-pen/ ] is a picture of showing how the two ends should look, and I point to the end that has the missing black and white logo disk, and another is a picture of the complete pen showing the two ends with the one barrel end missing the logo. I know the pen a MontBlanc fountain pen, but I don't know the exact model name or model number, but from searching around, the closest match was one being shown and sold at Ulugtekin.com and here is the link at http://www.ulugtekin.com/pen/Ulugtekin%20Montblanc/Vintage/Montblanc-Slimline-Fountain-Pen/Montblanc-Slimline-Fountain-Pen.htm So the piece missing is a plastic disk that fits inside the barrel end, but I am not sure if it comes with a screw or if it is shoved in place. I wasn't able to unscrew the beveled end, and it didn't try disassembly of the barrel to see if the end could be unscrewed. So any clues, suggestions, links, steps to replace the part would be greatly appreciated. Jairo

Trying To Identify An Old Montblanc

Hello Everyone, 1. It´s my first time in this forum. 2. Sorry for my english. I am German and my english is not very good. 3. Sorry for my lack of knownledge about pens... I have been always a pen writer, but don't know a thing about history or types. The question....Can u help me to identify this pen? I received this pen as a gift from my 94 year old grandmother. The pen had belong to my grandfather , who passed in 2002. He used the pen regularly, but since his death, it had been put away. I know the pen is older because I remember him using it when I was younger. My grandmother has a bad memory and can't recall when it was purchased. However, I believe it was purchased in Berlin. Any help with model or misc info would be appreciated. Thank you all for your time. ~ André

    Missing Packaging

Hi Guys New to the site. I am an avid collector of Mont Blanc limited edition pens for many years and have just discovered this forum. Wondered if anyone can help or advise me. I have a Schiller fountain pen which has the original case (mock book) but no outer box and white cardboard sleeve. Is there anywhere or anyone who knows where I could get hold of these items. Here's hoping Thanks Marc

Please Help Me Identify This Pen!

Hello everyone. Please help me identify this pen that I'm trying to purchase off an elderly gentleman. He told me that he got this pen in 2007. I tried to search myself but could not find a Mont Blanc exactly like this one. Mont Blac 35981 is near identical. I'm attaching the only picture that I have got of the pen that I'm trying to purchase. Please have a look and throw some light on the matter.

    Nibmeister In The Uk?

I remember reading about folks sending a pen to have the nib ground....I think there was someone in Edinburgh, but anywhere in UK is great : recommendations? I have a couple of pens which need attention: - a Mont Blanc Monte Rosa which has a nib so scratchy as to be unusable - an Omas piston filler which I took apart(I should not have done that....an old habit of taking things apart, but then not being able to get them back Together)and which I now can't reassemble. Grateful for ant help Thanks Alex

What Model Of Mont Blanc Is This?

I was given this pen today. Any idea what model it is or how much its worth? It was bought in Paris in 1992, and the color is called "burgundy bordeaux." Thanks!
  15. Hello, I have just been given an older Mont Blanc fountain pen by my great-grandmother after I showed her my new Pilot Vanishing point, and expressing to her my interest in pens. I have included pictures for you to help me. She said it had also been given to her with a pencil of the same styling, but she has since lost it. I very much appreciate all your help.
  16. Hi, I'm planning to buy a Visconti single pen case but I'm not sure if my MB Carlo Collodi or MB Gaius would fit in it. Any suggestions please? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31xk%2B26uDlL._SY355_.jpg (similar to this one) Regards, Siddharth
  17. Hi everyone, I recently bought my first 144, and it turns out that I bought a relatively early model (1980s, I believe ). I'm not very familiar with Mont Blanc's older pens and feel uncertain about as to whether or not it's genuine. Unlike modern pens, it doesn't have a serial number or the pix logo which tend to be easy indicators. I have read that these weren't present on their older pens. Also, compared my other mont blanc pens, a 149 and a 146 geo dimensions, it feels significantly lighter. Would anybody be able to identify whether or not I have a genuine MB on my hands? Thanks in advance,

    Orangey- Red Comparisons

I'm looking at/for an orange that is almost red: how does Pelikan Edelstein Mandarine compare to, say, Mont Blanc Ink of Joy, or Ghandi? Any suggestions? (Am in the UK) Alex

    Two Mont Blanc-Y Questions

Firstly.....and hoping it's ok to post this( I always seem to be asking that....) I saw this( won't put any detail other than pic).....and having been bitten by the ripoff bug before, I wonder....is it real? The second isn't a question as such....just a drool....... Two pics of the "is it genuine" followed by one of the drool.....well, not a photo of my actual drool - that would not be A Good Thing....a bit of pen porn..... Alex
  21. Hi guys, I've recently obtained a Montblanc ballpoint pen and have been trying to find information on it but can find next to nothing. The instrument I have is known as 'Mont Blanc pour Vacheron Constantin' ball point pen and I was wondering if any one has any information on it and can help me value it? http://image.invaluable.com/housePhotos/Tajan/00/325500/H0965-L40251076.jpg
  22. So you don't even have to bother with the business of cleaning nibs, swapping cartridges and all that fountain pen nonsense.... http://sploid.gizmodo.com/robot-imitates-your-handwriting-using-a-fountain-pen-1679656771 So what do people think?

    Montblanc Weird Rollerball?

Hi guys, I would appreciate your opinion about the authenticity of this MB Roller Ball. The box and the service guide seem well done, even though of a different shape than normally, but how about the pen itself? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Montblanc-Ballpoint-Pen-New-/171717962535?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27fb302b27 Any help is appreciated! Thanks a lot, Nick
  24. A friend is looking for help in identifying the pen in the included photos. He is confident that it is a real MB as he purchased it from a very reputable dealer. Another friend looked through a bunch of pen books and could not find a similar model with the flat top and the rounded end (on the body). One suggestion was that it might be a real MB but in "frankenpen" mode different cap and different body. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am/ he is open to additional questions for clarification and more details if it will help. BTW, the other pens in the images are there for size comparison. Also, in the image with the two caps showing, the cap to the left is the pen needing ID. Finally, the piston turner has a 4< except that the < is turned upward to form a 45 degree angle and the lower line is horizontal.Don't know if that makes any difference or helps at all. Thank you, in advance to any assistance.
  25. I was given the following pen by a friend few years back. Its a ball point pen and comes with a leather case. Has Mont Blanc Meisterstuck written on the rim and some sort of serial number on the top. Any idea on the actual name and valuation will be very very much appreciated. Thanks
