Can anyone identify this Pelikan M600 Souverän please. The barrel is dark mother of pearl with red striations (clearly not a brown tortoise). The dimensions of the pen are M600 and the nib is 14C-585. The cap is black. Cap dome is gold coloured (not black) and the top of the cap dome has a beige medaillon with a shiny gold coloured Pelikan logo: this is > 2010 according to what I find on www.rothemel.de or www.thepelikansperch.com. I however do not see this model listed on these websites.

hi everyone...i have a quick question for you....my pelikan m600 extra fine is amazing. I do have a small problem...it lays down a very nice and wet stroke from left to right and top to bottom...but the right to left and bottom to top stroke is the exact opposite. its dry and very thin....barely visible....i do not know what to do about this...please let me know if you have any suggestions...thanks

Hello, I am pretty new in the fountain pen collection although I am using fountain pen since I am 15. I recently bought Pelikan Souveran M 600 with a fine nib but as far as I see on the reviews all the series up to M 800 have 14C nibs. And I am pretty suprised when I realized my nib is actually 18C-750. I am not sure if the nibs of M800 or M100 is interchangable with M600. Should I feel lucky on that? Thanks for replies!

Hi all, I've owned an M205 for a few years now, and although I love it I do think that it's slightly small for the furry ape-paws that I have for hands. So, I am thinking of treating myself to either an M605 or an M805, but I would like to get some advice from those of you who have these pens before I go out and buy one. (Especially as either would cost me a sum that I can't really afford to be spending.) Obviously, apart from the different plating on their trim, the M605 & M805 are the same pens as the M600 & M800, so the answers to my questions would also apply to the differences between the M600 & M800. I would like answers to the specific questions listed below, but I would also welcome any other information that you think that I ought to know, and also any advice/hints/tips that you think that I ought to consider. My specific questions: 1) Does an M80x feel noticeably heavier than an M60x - i.e. might its weight become tiring in long sessions of writing? 2) Does an M80x feel ‘unwieldy’ compared to an M60x? 3) Does either model only feel ‘right’ if you write with its cap posted (or, for that matter, with its cap not posted)? 4) Is there any difference between the feel/responsiveness/springiness/performance of the 18K gold nib on an M80x and that of the 14K gold nib on an M60x? 5) How do these nibs compare to the feel/responsiveness/springiness/performance of the steel nib in an M20x? 6) does the longer nib of the M80x substantially alter the feel or ease of writing with one, and if it does, does the longer nib make it ‘more comfortable‘ to use than an M60x, or ‘less comfortable’? I do recognise that the best way to find out which of the two pens will better-suit my own, personal, taste is to try both of them out in a store, so; 7) can any of you let me know of any shops in my vicinity (the Midlands of England) that stocks both of these models of the Souverän? Hello fellow Pelikan-heads. Today, I became the proud owner of an m600 EF in green/gold/black. This in the third Pelikan to have passed through my hands. I've also had my fun with an m205 and an m800. The M600 is ultimately my goldilocks pen. Its dimensions mirror my other favorite (by proporsion) a Sheaffer No-Nonsense. So, I was very happy to receive it in the mail from Spain, where I was able to find the best deal at $305. Then the real fun began. Someone, (maybe in customs) had removed the pen from the pouch and it was just sitting out in the display box. The surface of the display box seemed a bit worn like it hadn been slid into and out of it's packaging numerous times. The plastic bag containing the pen was all crinkled, and there were fingerprints on the section. It did not appear to have been inked, but this was strange already. Still, I got a decent deal and so I chalked it up to that. Then I got the pen out. If you're an anti-poster, you can absolutely stop reading here. Fully half of the reason I got this pen is because I like to post. The entire reason I got rid of the otherwise fabulous M800 is because writing with that pen posted is much like writing with a pen made of a meter stick. So I try to stick the cap on the back as has been quite easy with my other Pelikans... but no. It just sits there with almost no friction at all. Loose and freely rotating, I think it's suction more than anything that's keeping it from falling right off when I tip the pen over. I got this pen so that I could write with it posted. I can, kind of. But the cap is constantly moving around due to the chanigng position of my hand and it's driving me nuts. I could probably make a return, but this place doesn't have replacements in stock, and the shipping to Spain is silly. Everything else about this pen is near perfect! Can somebody out there think of something I haven't. Is sending it in to Pelikan an option?

I am curious about what those of you more experienced and knowledgeable than I am (that would probably be most of you) can tell me about the differences between a pre-1997 Pelikan 600 and a current M600, and also a comparison between the pre-1997 600 and the early 1950's Pelkan 400. The only one I own is a lovely tortoise shell 400, and I do not live remotely close to a shop that has a current M600 or a pre-1997 600, neither of which I have ever held in my hand. Mostly I am intersted in "feel" comparisons, nib-wise and how the weight/size of each translate to in hand feel? I love the 400's semi-flex nib, and it is a thing of beauty. But at other times I also enjoy a slightly bigger, or slightly heavier pen, and sometimes also enjoy less flexible nibs that have less drag. If this comparison has been taken up somewhere already in a posting on this forum that I missed in my search, thanks for pointing me.

Hello people, I am now chasing nibs (since I'm too poor to afford another pen). I have a Pelikan M200 which writes smoothly, never skips or hard starting (albeit underlining stuffs is the equivalent of asking someone to jump off a bridge, can't do it without major skippings but I /don't really/ mind for now). A man in the shop in which I bought this pen recommended me the Pelikan M600, if one day I would like to upgrade to something more classy, it has the right size and all... BUT, that would also mean that I'd have to spend ~$400 for one! So since I know that Pelikan's Souverän series pens have interchangeable nibs, like Lamy Safaris, I wonder if investing in a M400 14 carats gold nib is worth it (so I can upgrade the nib only, not the entire pen), that would only cost me the price of the nib, ~$135 (My M200 costs less than that lol but who cares it's a gold nib). So people who owns Pelikan M400, what's your opinion on that nib? Is it worth getting one? Or should I just go straight up for a M600? ($400 vs $135 mmm) Thanks!

Hello there everyone! I am by no means new to the world of fountain pens; however, this will not only be my most expensive purchase so far, but also my first Pelikan fountain pen. As a graduation gift to myself, I originally planned on getting a M400 blue stripe with a fine nib to last me, at the very least, through undergrad if not longer. One website that I stumbled upon was ISellPens.com. Though I have never bought from the site, many people claim that Todd is a very trustworthy and friendly distributor. The only reason that I am hesitant is that their prices for Pelikan pens are much lower than MSRP and competitors (Goulet Pens, Richard Binder, Nibs.com...). Another point that I noticed is that Todd sells the M400 currently for $266, while the upscale M600 at only $279. My question is: has there been a mistake in the pricing, or should I take advantage of the seemingly good deal (especially after the recent price increase). Also, a $13 difference in price is really tempting, so is it worth it? Thank you in advance.

Oh dear! I should not have done it but I did. Walked into a well-sorted B&M store and tried out multiple Pelikan pens of the M200/400/600/800 range. The M800 was too heavy for me, the M200 and M400 too small. Only the M600 pens they had fit my hand perfectly and were of ideal weight and balance. So I have decided to get me a M600. But which one? There are so many around. In the shop they had a green marbled one that looked very good and a light blue one with silver trims that seemed to be some kind of limited edition and also looked cool. I can`t have both pens, so I must decide between these two. If you had the choice, which pen would you take and why?

Hi all, This is my first post after lurking for a bit. I got my first fountain pen from Ross Adams of Niche Pens. I ordered a B nib and had it modified to a 1.1mm cursive italic. The only other fountain pen that I currently have is a vintage Waterman 52 with a flex nib. Comparing the two, I have to say the the M600 writes smoother. HELP! The section of my beautiful M600 separated from the barrel. I'm too embarrassed to say how it happened. Where can I send it for repair? I'm not sure I want to fool with it myself unless it's a really straightforward fix. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

After springing for an italic nib for my 80s M400, because the semi-flex gold nib was not appealing to me (not a flex lover) I'm actually considering offloading it. I love my M800 but thought it would be nice to have something smaller for journaling, and though that is true, after several weeks, I find that the M400 is just a bit too small and light to be truly comfortable during long writing sessions. My thought is that the M600 (it is bigger, right) might have been a better choice for journaling- and my italic nib would actually fit it, which is nice- but now I'm torn because I do so love this tortoise. Talk about #firstworldproblems, I can't decide whether I want a slightly bigger fountain that's plain but comfortable, or my slightly too small fountain pen, which is gorgeous.
