  1. Just finished up with my first three kitless pens. The first was the prototype so it's not worth showing here but the second and third turned out ok, I think. I made my own alumilite blanks and turned them on my smallish Rikon wood lathe using Easy Wood Tools negative rake cutters (they are awesome). I'm using cheap Chinese taps and dies but I did get in on a group buy for some triple start taps and dies from Tapco. Can't wait for them to get here! The nibs are Bock #6 fine. BTW, does anyone have a preference between Jowo and Bock nibs? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    All-Wood Fountain Pens

Hi all! For my first post on FPN, I would like to share some of my latest turnings, some wooden fountain pens I made which could be interesting because even the threads are made of wood, maybe not so common. I fitted them with Bock nibs, # 5 or 6, steel or 18K. I'll show them crescendo... First are some plain wood clipless pens, almost no deco, cigar shape. Right hand pen is snakewood, on the left: kingwood with a rollstop, some mother-of-pearl here and there: * * * * * * * * * * * * Next are pens with clip. Pau rosa and lignum vitae with ebony rings. A funny clip for the lignum with a little pearl of wood: A similar one inspired by French cabinet makers of the XVIIIe century, who associated tulipwood and kingwood on their furniture, with ebony accents:
  3. Well, This isn't as nice as the work everyone else posts, but I am happy with it, as is the new owner! It is my third fountain pen using vintage cellulose acetate. The finials and section are made from solid aluminum, turned by me on the metal lathe and final shaping and polishing done on the wood lathe. The nib is a #5 bock and the clip was purchased. Sorry for the pic with the business card in it. I don't have a decent picture of the cap on without the card! Oh, and the fingerprints.... Lewis

  6. Anyone know of independent pen turners making kitless rollerball pens (basically there usual variety of styles but with it setup to take a parker or G2 compatible refill)? I know some turners who will take this as a custom order, curious if anyone has come across one that sells them regularly. Closest I can think of at the moment are some of the monteverde or bexley pens (nothing wrong with either, just looking for variety).

  10. I thought I would post a couple of pens I finished recently. The nickel silver with green alumilite is a pen with a certain amount of weight for those liking a heavier pen. The material is custom cast by Bob Dupras. The pen is 157 mm long capped, uncapped 119mm; it doesn't post. The body Diameter is 16mm. Finials and cap tenon are turned from Nickel Silver. The celluloid pen is Purple Web Celluloid from American Art Plastics. The pen is 158mm capped, 114 uncapped; body diameter is 15mm. I don't recommend posting.
