  1. so i have been unable to locate a small batch of pounce(powder sprinkled on ink to dry it?) which i recently learned is ground cuttlefish bone, the only source i found was like 75$ for 100grams. why doesn't anyone have any more information on why it isnt really used anymore, and where one could acquire it cheaply if one was so inclined?

    Eagle Inc: Blue/black Ink (Powder)

I bought a little glass pot of this ink powder from a local antique dealer about a year or so back and have been monkeying with different concentrations. It's a versatile ink depending on how dark you want it to be. I have always mixed it in small plastic needle bottles with distilled water (other than the time I used tap water as an experiment, which resulted in an odd green tint to the ink). It dries well, lubricates well, and has a unique look. http://imgur.com/1cLvweS

    Thistle #2 Review

This is a mostly handwritten review of the Thistle T2 ink powder/concentrate provided by Amber. I diluted the concentrate by 1/3rd based on the recommendation of dcwaites. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of this ink disappeared a long time ago. So this ink is a relic of the past. Thanks for the chance to use this vintage ink.
  5. So, as some of you know, the wonderful team at JustWrite.com was "con"vinced to try to make a series of modern ink powders. The goal was to have vibrant inks that could be shipped to you in regular first class envelope and you would put the ink into a bottle with water and mix. The JustWrite Team sent me a series of samples, and I recruited others to assist me in testing these great inks. At first no one was told who made these inks so the Pre-Name was SuSeMai - SUper SEcret MAker of Inks. The alpha tests of 13 inks resulted in 4 inks moving forward to beta testingl - generally, these are the inks from the "Cashmere" line. In beta testing (and I will post some pictures at some point to show off the excitement), we discovered that Green Cashmere when it was in the great melting pot, had instead SEPERATED. (I'm sure there was some politics involved, some chemicals went on strike because certain dyes were involved). As a result, each sachet had a slightly different collection of chemicals and each sachet has different behaviors. So, we testers changed the name from "green" to "Magic" since determining what color would result could be magic. Even cooler (and more magical), is that each batch of magic seems to show different colors at different concentrations (dye / water) AND at lower concentrations, the ink changes colors. So, for your enjoyment, here is a color change sample. (Just turn off the volume so you don't have to listen to the directors comments).

My Dip Ink Is Too Wet... Help Please :)

I was recently given some black ink powder. So I boiled my distilled water and mixed in some of the powder (enough to give me a dark grey color, which is what I wanted; I've got my saturaed fp ink for black black). But it's running off my glass dip pen too wet. It just pours onto the page and feathers where it really shouldn't be feathering. This is my first experience with dip inks, but I'm assuming I need to thicken it and make it drier. So do I just add more and more powder until it's thicker? Or should I pick up some gum arabic? Thanks for your answers
