  1. I have owned this particular Waterman's pen for some years, but for the life of me, I've not been able to identify the model. It has a screw-operated internal plunger for filling, the knurled part that you twist being hidden under a removable cover on the end of the pen. The text on the pen clearly says "Waterman's" and "60", and "made in England", but I don't think it is like a Ligne 60. The overall style is reminiscent of a Taperite. I'd be grateful for any help you can offer in identifying this great little pen.
  2. Can somebody help me identify this vintage Visconti fountain pen? Sorry for the bad photo's (didn't make them myself) I don't have it in my possession yet so have to do with these images. On the nib is engraved "Tropen Iridium chrome". This is all the information I have. Sigrid
  3. So, what is this pen? I was recently in London for the first time and doing the tourist thing with my husband when we swung by the 221B Baker Street Sherlock Holmes Museum. Unfortunately, I hadn't anticipated high demand on a Tuesday (?!) and we realized we most likely wouldn't make it to our next appointment if we waited for entry through the (50+) long line and took a quick consolation lap around the gift shop. The pen caught my eye (the idea of Sherlock Holmes handing out branded pens to his clients gave me a chuckle, at least) and on uncapping it I noticed it was a fountain pen--bonus! It came in either shiny black with gold accents or a matte gold tone (also with metallic gold accents), and I took the black. Sure, it's probably a cheaply made souvenir at £10 with an undoubtedly heavy profit margin, but it amuses me and that alone is worth the cost. Of course now that I have it home, I am kind of curious about who made it (partly in case I want to get a different nib or a converter for it, because it might be nice to have something that amuses me as a purse pen). Google hasn't been the most helpful, as there are apparently plenty of real fountain pens made in honor of the famed literary character, and the museum shop page appears to either be down or was never finished, so that was a dead end on info, too. (I've sent an email in case the shop knows, but haven't heard back yet.) Trying to search for promotional items which could be the base for the item then branded up with the museum logo hasn't turned anything up that looks right and matches the price range, either. I also just... don't really know where to look on the pen, or for what. There's no marks on the nib, and the feed bears a '3' in a circle on the back (may be a red herring). The inside of everything, including the silver colored grip part, is brass and it feels like the black is just painted onto a brass body. The ink cartridge is blue, as far as I can tell without having punctured it yet, and having no experience yet with cartridges outside of an ancient Sheaffer Calligraphy Set, I have no idea if that's a normal sized one or not (it seems long). Once I am over the cold that followed my husband and I back from the UK, I hope to try popping in the ink cartridge it came with and seeing how it writes and maybe swinging by my local Pen Posse (who may no longer remember/recognize me, thanks to work insanity stretching from December up until this vacation...) to see if they can/want to aid in the sleuthing, but until I am unchained from the Kleenex box I'll ask here where there's no risk of infecting anyone else I'm apparently a lousy detective, but I also studied under a Professor Moriarty in college, so maybe my talents will be more inline with causing mischief if I apply myself I apologize that the photos probably aren't very good; I'm no photographer, either Any help identifying a maker or any other nib/converter/etc. info is appreciated, but this is really just about satisfying curiosity and bears no urgency

    Identify A 45 Set (?)

Hi All, Is this a 45 set? Not great pictures but the section and nib look like a 45, although the cap and barrel are a color I've never seen in the 45. Maybe a limited, special run of 45's? But there were a gazillion 45's over the years, and for all I know this might be more common than I think. Li'l help with the i.d. and any information you might have on this set in particular? Does that nib look like it might be 14k? Scott

    Help Identify And Appraise?

I'm about to buy a cool Falcon set, and probably going to pay too much for it. The seller says it's used and (but?) in excellent condition. I know nothing more than what is in these fuzzy pictures. Anyone know: (1) which Falcon model it is? (2) what year(s) it might have been made? and, (3) ballpark idea of what it is worth (in the sense of what would sell it somewhat quickly in the FPN Classifieds)? Would really appreciate your detective skills and knowledge about whether it is (4) desirable to collectors (it is used, and "excellent" is not mint, although maybe it is minty? Looks like there's plating, but I can't tell if that is just removable storage crud), or whether (5) I am the only person who might buy such a set to write with because the fp may be a good writer, and the set is just so damn snappy-looking (in a late 1970's sort of way). Thanks for your help on any of these questions. Scott
  6. I found this pen on ebay and I'd never seen anything like it. So of course I had to have it if nothing else than to try to figure it out. The nib seems quite odd to me especially for the brand. It kind of looks like it's semi-hooded? It says Stylomine 303 on its barrel but I've never seen a Stylomine pen that looks like this. Ive swen hooded Stylomines but they don't resemble this pen much as far as I can tell. I was thinking it may be a knockoff but Stylomine is a rather obscure brand for that. Otherwise, it may be a later model near the end of the company? Can anyone identify it? It was listed as NOS but I don't know if that's accurate or not. Either way, it's just an interesting pen in my opinion.
  7. Hello everyone, I just purchased this set of NoS Aurora sterling silver fountain+ballpoint pens (only FP shown in the photos), i need help with identification of the model name and any other info, many thanks in advance
  8. Hi, I'm new to this forum and I hope this post is appropriate. My grandmother recently gave me her Waterman Fountain pen. She doesn't remember much about it and I am having trouble finding any information about it on the internet. She thinks it is at least 30 years old. I don't even know if it is a dip pen or if it's just dried shut 😂. Do any of you guys know anything about this pen? I greatly appreciate the help!
  9. What is the name/model of this Parker fountain pen and ballpen? ...
  10. Hi all! Just starting with fountain pens and I managed to dig out this pen that has been sitting around. I believe this was apparently purchased in 1992 at a reputable department store but I am unable to identify the pen. I have attached two photos. It has the initials VR on the back. Help is much appreciated.

  12. Hi everyone! I recently picked up this pen that I believe to be from the civil war era. The nib says "John Foley's Bank Ben New York No. 7" I have seen varying versions online, but they all have a date on the nib; this one does not. Is that a problem? This does seem to be from the civil war era, but again, I am not an expert in this. I'm looking for more information on this such as when was it made, if it is okay that there is no date on it, what is its worth, that sort of thing. Any and all help is much appreciated. Thank you! Pictures can be found here because they are too big/too many to upload https://drive.google.com/open?id=1RuRTQbTIIVBUo-FK_QZFKnIdYjC7RXjJ
  13. Hi everyone! I recently picked up this mechanical pencil that I believe to be from the civil war era. It is a slide pencil, has a screwable jewel top, and the name "Ezra C. Dean" engraved on it. The mechanical mechanism slides in and out, the jewel top comes off, and the hook loop on it also slides. I'm looking for more information on this such as who made it, when was it made, what is it exactly, what is its worth, that sort of thing. Any and all help is much appreciated. Thank you! Pictures can be found here because they are too big/too many to upload https://drive.google.com/open?id=1y0mBbdECrPOceGDBoCoLkEj-yrhHq12v
  14. I'll spare you the backstory, but I've been quite enjoying the way that this old Monteverde Regatta writes, but it just dawned on me that this is likely not even a Monteverde nib! Unfortunately the "Iridium point Germany" isn't helping. Can anyone identify this leaf insignia? Thanks! http://i.imgur.com/S4F9htdm.jpg
  15. Hi everyone!! I'm new here and I’m hoping someone can help me identify this pen and/or get more information on it. What I’ve figured out so far is that it’s definitely of Czech origin based on the 14 carat gold nib saying “CZECHOSL”. The cap also has a Czech silver mark of a goat head with a 3 underneath plus the US mark of 900 indicating that it’s 90% silver. There’s another mark that I’m assuming is a makers mark but I haven’t been able to pull up info on it. It appears to say K1P but I’m not sure if it really is a “1”. This was recently given to me after it was found in a desk. It was likely sitting unused for roughly 10 years but it cleaned up and polished up beautifully. Unfortunately the person who owned it has passed away and no one else knows its history. Larger pictures of it can be found in the imgur album link below. It includes the full pen and close-ups of the cap's markers marks and the nib. https://imgur.com/a/F5CPXvp Thank you!!!

    Help Id This Sheaffer

I'm a newbie so please go easy on me but I recently found my father's Sheaffer in the closet and am curious as to what it is. His memory is fuzzy at best but he believes that he was gifted the pen during the 90s. I also managed to find a box of old Skrip Cartridges and would like to know what kind of converter this pen would use. Any help would be greatly appreciated! https://imgur.com/fpngallery/WhZpN0c
  17. My grandfather recently passed away, and one of the items that he left to me was a Parker Vacumatic. I have tried to figure out more about the pen from online articles and unofficial Parker collector sites, but so far have not had much luck. It seems that this particular pen is somewhat different than many of the most common subtypes. I was hoping that someone here might have the expertise to help me identify the when it was made, the subtype/style, and any other relevant information that could help me in appreciating this final gift from my grandfather. While I would never sell it, any insights you had regarding its value would also be greatly appreciated. I have uploaded several photos of the pen's various elements to this album: https://imgur.com/fpngallery/ne786kA Some of the features of this pen seem somewhat rare or abnormal: - the blue diamond on the clip is actually black (perhaps due to age?) - the band around the bottom of the cap is silver in color and comprised of fine horizontal lines (seems like a different design than most) - nib has an arrow etched on it, but is gold (not two-toned) Thank you in advance, and I look forward to any information you can provide!
  18. Hello all, I have come into a collection of very old gold pens. One such pen (though many resemble this), is shown below. I am looking for a little help on identifying this pen, but am looking for a reasonable way to identify the other ones that I have as well. Any tips/tricks for these types? If any specific information is required, please inform me and I will follow up.
  19. Thanks in advance for any help! I am hopeful that someone can identify this Montblanc fountain pen. Barrel & Cap are both sterling silver (hallmarked) in a twisted decagonal form with gold plated lattice bands and black resin caps Gold plated clip is set with a cabochon gem, maybe a Ruby? Nib is bi-tone but not marked for quality of gold, and has a compass/cruciform with letters RIKS or KRIS some other combo of those letters Cap has etched numbers 0727 over 4810 Underside of the clip reads "GERMANY" and "PIX" Cap on, measures about 5.5"
  20. Just a couple of days ago, I missed out on a very good deal. It's a fountain pen version of the Rotring 600, that in itself is something to look out for, but this one seems particularly interesting. The pictures aren't really clear, and the lighting could be much better, but this seems to be a silver version with black trim? A silver barrel with black ends and section. Something I've never seen before. Upon closer inspection, the Rotring logo is colored black as well, and it's missing it's characteristic red ring? My best guess is that it's a very worn down black one, or perhaps intentionally polished to remove the black paint? But maybe there is such color combination out there? Does anyone know? http://rabingosal.com/archive/Rotring_600_black_trim.jpg Whichever it is, misssing out on a $15 Rotring 600 fountain pen is still makes for a sad day...
  21. Hi all, can anyone help me to identify the following pen. A slim, burgundy pen with silver cap, having an ink window and piston filler... (I taped the filler because it was slightly leaking because of some small cracks) For further details please check the pictures. I'm rather new to fountain pens and have no clue about the brand, country of origin, age... there's no sign of any brand on the pen itself. I'm suspecting there might be some clue on the nib itself, but since I'm rather new to fountain pens I don't really know if/how I can remove the nib. Unscrewing the nib/feed section was not successful, I'm worried I would break something if I would try too hard to get it loose. (It came in my possession together with a Parker 45 Arrow) I would really appreciate getting any info about this pen. Kind regards, Pluym.

    Help Identifying Duofold

I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about the blue marbled Duofold in these pictures, which contain other pens for comparison of size, etc. The Lapis Lazuli is definitely a pretty modern Centennial (not sure about the exact dating of that, either). The vac is not a full-sized major, and the Sonnet is, well, a standard Sonnet size. Couldn't find any Parker date codes, and that flimsy top of the section has me worried a little bit. It is authentic, isn't it? I bought it thinking it was an International, and I was guessing no later than the early 1980's. But that is mostly a guess. Li'l help? Scott
  23. Dear fellow forumites and pen-o-philes: Recently, I have com in the possession of two vintage fountain pens, one of which was quickly identified as a Pelikan 120. The other one however, is a mystery. (to me, at least) I know the history of the pen, it was purchased by my father in the fifties of the previous century. Later, my brother used it for a while, put it away somewhere, and it got forgotten. It resurfaced, and now I have it. There is no brand or model name anywhere on the pen, it is a black piston filler. The clip looks vaguely Pelikan-esque, the rest of the pen looks a bit Geha-esque. See pictures, if anyone could identify this pen, that would make me happy! I have already looked in Mr. Lambrou's "Fountain Pens Of The World", but couldn't find this pen. Kind regards, Jos
  24. Hi all, This rollerball was my dad's and he used to write with it quite a bit. There's no branding in it. I don't know how old it is, but my dad passed away 6 years ago and there's still a hauser bill 707 sf in it. I'd venture to guess it's mid-to-late 90s. He wasn't much of a pen guy, but he enjoyed writing with this one. I don't know much about rollerball pens. It looked like a Waterman to me, but I can't find it. Any help would really be appreciated! Thank you! Edit: More photos may be found here https://imgur.com/a/WL30bvk Edit 2: It was gifted to him in the late 90s while we were living in Russia. My mom thinks she recalls it being a Parker, but isn't sure.
  25. Hi, I am new on this forum and a newbie in fountain pens. I recently found a pen in some old stuff. The nib is bent which make writing difficult. I'd like to replace it but I even don't know which brand of pen/nib it is. Can someone help me please? I've attached 2 photos. Thanks, MataMax
