  1. Hello! I've had a Pilot Decimo for probably just around a year now. It's got a F nib, and I have a CON-50 converter installed. I've always used the same ink in it (I believe it's Diamine's Majestic Purple). I've never had any problems with it either, it's worked perfectly! Then, a few months ago (1-2) months, the ink flow just became terrible. It skips, sometimes completely stops, and is terrible to right with. I have to trace my letters five time before you can actually see the entire letter with no skips. I've cleaned out the pen fully (I used just water, I've never used any soap or anything with my pens) and it still doesn't work right. I don't know why it's not working. I really hope I haven't broken it, and I just want my favorite pen to be back to its former glory. The pen used to work so well, does anyone know why it might not be writing correctly? Thank you so much, and dear gosh I hope I put this in the right place.

    Help Finding A Nib...

Hello, I purchased my first fountain pen a while back, but the nib got pretty bent because I was still learning how to write with a fountain pen. The pen is a University and it has an Irgo 8 nib. I need to find a replacement but I dont know what to buy exactly... Does anyone know what nib I would need? Thanks
  3. Dear Friends Kindly help in choosing one pen from below mentioned 2 fountain pens. Please note that its an appreciation award program hence I am not aware of Nib type etc. I have the option to see the pic and model name and that's all. A) CROSS AT0086-74MS Chrome Century Fountain PenB.) WATERMAN Hemisphere Deluxe Silk Black CT-Fountain Pen Kindly suggest which one I should choose. ThanksSarvesh Shekhar.
  4. I have owned this particular Waterman's pen for some years, but for the life of me, I've not been able to identify the model. It has a screw-operated internal plunger for filling, the knurled part that you twist being hidden under a removable cover on the end of the pen. The text on the pen clearly says "Waterman's" and "60", and "made in England", but I don't think it is like a Ligne 60. The overall style is reminiscent of a Taperite. I'd be grateful for any help you can offer in identifying this great little pen.

    Hallo From Austria

Hey everybody, until last year I mainly watched Youtube-videos, sometimes red reviews online and bought way to many TWSBIs but now I finally signed up here! I have a question on where to post certain stuff on this forum: I recently created a website and I'd be really interested in hearing some feedback! I'm just not sure where to i'm supposed to post. (If this is important, it's basically a fountain pen search that doesn't sell anything but just links to stores. The URL is www.fpfinder.com) Thank you in advance! Cipher

Noodler's Ink Not As Wet As Before?

Hello people, Really hope I'm not being annoying here posting a topic asking for help, but I can't seem to find anything that quite relates to my issue. Basically, I've recently noticed that one of my inks, Noodle's Air-Corp Blue-Black, seems to write dryer and in a lighter shade than before. Initially I thought my feed might've been clogged, so I flushed my pen with water. I even used distilled water just to play it safe. Nothing changed. Then I thought it might be an issue with the pen, so I switched to another one (also flushing it beforehand), but the issue remained. Which is why I think the culprit is the ink itself. So my question is: what caused the ink to become dryer and lighter in color? For reference, I've had this ink for six months now, and have traveled with it (packed it in a suitcase on a flight). I've taken care not to expose it to direct sunlight, and the cap seals just fine for all I can tell. Responses would be much appreciated
  7. Hey everyone, Is the PenBBS pen worth it? I was thinking of getting a pen from the 323 series. Any help/insights are appreciated!
  8. Hey Guys, I am looking to pick up a Lamy 2000 as my first gold nib pen. I have had a Lamy Aion (M) for a while and really like it (except for the cap rattle, but I've been able to fix that with some tinkering. With the Aion, the medium is good when writing on quality paper (i.e. Rhodia), but when I write on lesser quality (I write on medical charts all day), I find it slightly too bold. I'm really torn as to if I should get it in a Fine or Medium nib because it is an investment. I have been searching all over the DFW metroplex for a place where I could test both to see which one I prefer before buying. Im normally willing to take the risk, but I really would like this pen to be my daily workhorse. I have found few places in DFW that carry fountain pens in general and none that carry the Lamy 2000. I am also aware of the Dallas Pen Collectors Club, but it doesn't look like their next meeting is until June! I am also driving to Austin this Friday, so any places there would also be appreciated! If anybody knows a place where I could test one out, it would be a miracle. If not, any opinions on the Lamy 2000 nibs would be amazing! Y'all are the best!
  9. so i am attempting to purchase this old pelican 140 for about $80 usd and i am worried that the nib looks a little funny? it appears someone filed or heavily polished the nib to bring the gold out. and there is an odd flat on the tipping i have never seen in any of my modern pens? was this just how they used to make them? can anyone tell me if this is f m or broad? can anyone help me with this?

    Unusual Platinum Pen?

I unexpectedly won this vintage pen on eBay recently. It is my first Platinum pen! I must say, even though I had to do a thorough cleaning and purchase a new converter, it does not disappoint! However, after scouring the internet, I can't seem to find anything about this specific model. It looks like it might be a variant on the PTL-10000 or PTL-5000 maybe? At least the shape of the barrel and the nib seem to imply that. If anyone could knows anything or can identify this pen, I'd really appreciate it. I'm very curious.

Vintage And The New To F.p

hello everyone! i am a guy from new york state. i recently joined your lovely forum because i purchased my first fountain pen 50 days ago(appx) a jin hao and quickly became obsessed! an ahab and F-C emotion quickly followed. so now i am turning to the vintage world, unfortunatly i do not have time to sift through the endless wealth of knowledge present here. I know i want a super flexy gold nib i keep reading about, but i dont know where to start! i have looked on ebay and well any of the nicer pens quickly go out of my price range, buying new is not an option and i dont know enough to buy vintage without getting beat on an old pen that does not work. i can spend around 100$ and want a friction fit nib. (i hate that they make nibs brand specific) can anyone help me out here?

    Need Help Identifying This Parker.

Hello. I traded my Jinhao 159 for this vintage Parker at school today. I have a feeling the poor guy wont be up for more trades once he realises the price of a 159. I would like to know how much its worth and what model it is (seems like a 45, maybe?). Thanks in advance.
  13. I was actually going to submit this before I brute-force'd it and tore up the threads so I now have to throw the 3 dollar pen away altogether, but I wanted to try running warm water over it first, and then I got caught up in messing with it and.... well, now it's broken. Anyway, I bought a Jinhao Shark 993 and wanted to fill it up along with a couple other piston pens I had on hand, and they all have gotten stuck, I assume because I closed them before testing them to write even a little. Lesson learned! But still, how do I open them???? This is the second one I've broken like this, actually, but at least this one didn't pull out the cartridge and get ink everywhere like the last one :'( Last time I get a Fountain Pen Revolution pen.

    Greetings

Greetings to all, I am new here as a member, but have read several things from this site through searches I have done. I have found/stumbled upon a few old pens while unpacking my parents from their recent move closer to me. A 1907 Wirt, 1903 (I think) Sheaffer, 1930's Sheaffer desk pen, 1938 Parker Parkette and a 1939 Parker Deluxe Challenger. The last is the one I need help with, it is missing two of the three cap rings and I would love to find some replacements. Can any of you learned folks offer any help? Any information would be most appreciated. With kindest regards I remain, Wilson
  15. Had an extra Jinhao x750 and a Zebra G nib (titanium) lying around, and saw the hype of the frankenpen you could make with these. Thought, "Hey, this seems easy, I could do that!" YouTube videos and tutorials spun a picture of ease and simplicity. And yet, seven hours (not exaggerating) of trying yielded no results - except for a stuck nib and feed. Heat setting had no effect on the stubborn feed, and pliers upon the nib to try and flatten it slightly resulted in much frustration when the nib failed to rest on the feed satisfactorily. I've read the forum pages and watched videos and done exactly as they said... yet, nothing. I'm at a loss of what to do. How do you do this ardous task so (seemingly) effortlessly?
  16. I found this Pen set today, I've had it since new which would've been April 1991. I got these for my 18th birthday (feeling old!). Would love to know more about them, The only thing I know is that the company stop trading around the year 2000. Should I keep it, use it, or sell it! Any help appreciated thank you
  17. I received a very beautiful, if broken, vintage button filler some time ago and started working on it last week. It needs a new sac and this I can handle, but the pressure bar is quite rough and a little rusted in some places. This is my first repair so I'm not quite sure what I can and can't do. Should I replace the bar? I can't find a right size replacement (7 cm) anywhere so I'm thinking of just using this old one. The bar is not snapped or cracked and it's still very springy.

Is This Legit? Can Find It Anywhere

Hello everyone, thanks for the help. I recently won an Ebay auction for a burgundy Montblanc No. 12 and wanted to know if this model even comes in burgundy.
  20. Hey everyone! After having my new fountain pen search derailed by southpaw I've been scouring the Franklin-Christoph website for hours looking into the variety of excellent pen options there. I need some help though. If you own a Franklin-Christoph pen could you help me out by: Telling me what model(s) you own and what color(s)Your favorite nib(s)Your experience with customer service (if any)Uploading a picture of your pen showing off the color(s) of itHow it performs on cheap and nice paperYour ink(s) of choiceI know it's a lot to ask but information seems to be a bit scarce on these pens, especially when it comes to the color options. Thanks!
  21. Hey everyone! I'm looking to moving up in the pen world to a nicer pen but I don't really know what I want. Right now though, I crave some perspective on what the FPN community likes best. If you would like to, please: Post a comment about your favorite sub $200 penPost a few reasons why you like the penPost what you have it inked withThanks!
  22. I recently obtained a Moonman M2. I am rather enamored with it. But I have come across one problem. There is an inner section and the ink seems to leak into the space between the inner and outer section. I've found some reviewers that have removed it but they don't discuss or show how they did it. Does anyone know? Without doing so, it's really difficult to completely clean the pen. Thanks!
  23. Hey everyone! So I've been hunting for a new fountain pen for the last while and was recommended to look into the Franklin-Christoph offerings. One in particular caught my eye, the Model 40 Panther. On Franklin-Christoph's website it says they come out infrequently, I was hoping to acquire one due to how beautiful it looks but they are not in stock. Are they on a rotating schedule or do they only come out at random? Thanks!
  24. Hey everyone! I'm currently in the market for a pen and the Pelikan M605 Translucent White has caught my eye. From what I understand however a white lacquer pen is a hard thing to keep clean. Does anyone have experience with how much of a commitment keeping a white pen white is? EDIT: My main concerns are with staining and yellowing. I've heard that red ink can stain the interior of a demonstrator before and I'm concerned about something similar but on the exterior of a white pen.

Removing Section Of A Button Filler

So I wanted to get into pen repair and tinkering so I bought a couple cheap lots of vintage pens on ebay. Most I've been able to disassemble completely so far. However, this one is a bit of a struggle. I can't seem to get the section to even think about budging. I have managed to get the pieces of the dried sack out but the section remains fixed. I've also tried removing the button and have yet to succeed but I can't replace the sack with the section locked in place like it is anyways. Infuriatingly, my hairdryer has not been of any help at all either. If anyone has any tips or ideas, I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks!
