I wanted to say 'Hello' as a new member. In just the small time I have been a member of this 'network' I have been impressed with the members and their willingness to help and solve problems. I look forward to learning more about fountain pens and contributing what knowledge I have acquired. I have recently returned to the US after spending two years in Vienna, Austria. While there I apprenticed under one of the few remaining 'walk-in' vintage pen repair shops in the world! It was a great experience and I learned a lot about the history and repair of fountain pens. We have opened an online store with some of our rare and refurbished European pens and offerings on pen repair. If you have the time I would welcome any feed-back you have on our site. www.scholarandgardener.com

Hello Everyone! My friend told me about this site and now I'm hooked! Figured instead of lurking I'd just make an account. I've been using fountain pens for about three years now, mostly for basic writing and fancy lettering purposes. I don't have the money for very fancy fountain pens, but I have some AWESOME friends that let me borrow theirs! My favorite everyday pen is Kaweco Classic Sport for the compact design and the fact that it's not meltdown-worthy if I misplace it. I also like the lack of a clip so it doesn't scratch my phone when thrown in my purse. I tend to like fine nibs over thicker ones, and blue or brown inks over black. I go through a lot of sketchbooks/notebooks each year and I definitely think a fine paper can make even the cheapest pen look ten times better! So I guess you can say I'm a bit of a paper/notebook snob. I also have a super-soft spot for well-designed accessories like pen pouches, leather notebook covers/cases, notebook bands with pen slots, etc. I follow a lot of pen blogs, but I come here almost exclusively before I buy a pen for trusted reviews. Can't wait to add to the conversations and start learning a whole lot more! –Tori

Allow me to introduce myself, I'm a twenty-five year old housewife & Mother. I sort of fell into the world of pens. I didn't start off crazy about them. When I was nineteen I worked for a high end watch shop, that sold Montblanc pens & accessories, I was in charge of inventory & became very aquainted with the models we had in our store. When I left that job the only time I thought about a pen was when I needed to use one. Then last year my Husband's Uncle passed (RIP) & he left his pen collection behind. No one knew what to do with the pens or how to sort them out, they weren't exactly organized. I had the only knowlege of such a thing so I offered to help. It became my responsibility to research & catalog his collection for my Husband & his Sister. Eight months later, I've grown quite fond of pens & have aquired a great appreciation for them. I have a lot of fun researching & learning about fountain pens even though I have found it to be very time consuming! I especially love the vintage & antique pens as I just love history & anything vintage/antique! It's been exciting to jump into this unexpected hobby. I think it coincides well with my love for typewriters! Cheers! To writing instruments! -MM

Hi everyone, This is my first post on the Fountain Pen Network. I got my start down this wormhole when I listened Brad Dowdy and Mike Hurley's wonderful podcast aptly named the Pen addict. Since then I have been lurking on Jetpens and my local stationary shops. Luckily here in Singapore I have access a great variety of international pen brands. I look forward to being involve in pen addicts' activites here on the fountain pen network.
