  1. I have a bottle of Iroshizuku Take-Sumi that I bought in December. I have maybe used 20-25% of it. It's a divine black ink. But I have several blacks, and this one isn't getting the attention it deserves. So I figured I would pay it forward. I will include the box, of course. I'll pay postage to USA. First come, first serve. Who wants it?

  3. Update: I have about 6 pens to pass on. But now will gift them to my pen pals for free including shipping. I am going to thin out the number of fountain pens I have. A couple of TSWBI's, like new, some Pilot Metro's, also like new, maybe a few others. I'm willing to pass on to other members as long as they cover shipping. I'm in Arizona. Does anyone have advice on how I should do this? List the pens and nib size? Pictures? etc. thanks, jim UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your help and advice. Given the procedures and feeling like I need to "sell" a free gift, I'm going to give them as gifts to my pen pal correspondents instead, and pay for the $$$$ postage (not big dollars here). It is a better gesture for me and less hassle than a giveaway on the forum. Thanks again for everyone's help and advice. I've learned a lot. jim

    Aurora Boards For Free

Aurora sent me these counter boards with vintage subjects. I don't need them, I don't have a shop open to public, I only sell through the site; and it's a shame to keep them on the shelf in the warehouse that nobody sees them. If you want one, and you're planning to place an order shortly, just choose one and I'll put it inside the parcel for free. There is no minimum order, no obligation to buy something of Aurora or other specific item. The boards measure 17.5 x 25 cm, made of polished cardboard, with a back support. You can also see them on my Facebook page. I can't show all them because some are too heavy. But please go to my Facebook page and you'll see all.
  5. I am moving very soon and there are a couple of items I would rather give away than pack. I have about half a bottle of Water Encre Noir Intense and about half a bottle of Encre Bleu Sérénité. I also have a burgundy/gold Parker pen that looks like the 88/Vector model. It says "Made in UK" on the cap. I'm offering them to anyone willing to pay for shipping. I live in Chicago for anyone willing to pick these items up.
  6. I truly believe that this "pay it forum" thread works. Paying it forward reaps rewards in life, in general, and it works here regarding pen-related goodies. My most recent experience: after I offered up a PIF package and mailed it last week, I received two awesome FP-related gifts. One was a deluxe bottle of ink (thoughtfully in my favorite color group) from my music teacher. Another was a surprise package of 4 sample vials of inks I've never tried, courtesy of a member of this site who I'd been chatting with. Once upon a time, this PIF forum was very active. It has slowed down some and I think it'd be great to see more activity. If you have pen and ink goodies getting dusty around your place, please consider offering them up! They will make someone else very happy, won't go to waste, will help you streamline your collection (and give you a good excuse to buy more, if you're looking for justification), and you'll be blessed with good stationery karma! (I promise I am not suggesting this so that I can request anything that may be offered. To be clear on that, I won't request or enter any PIFs for the remainder of 2017.) Thanks in advance to anyone willing to participate in this PIF challenge.

Free Lamy 1.1 Italic Stub Nib

Hello everyone, I hope this is the right place for this notice. I have an almost new 1.1 italic stub nib available free to a fellow Lamy enthusiast. I bought this to try in my Safari as a change from my EF nib, but it's too broad for my liking. It is available to FPN members in Canada and the continental USA. I will pay to ship it without tracking via Canada Post to the person who sends me the most interesting request by next Wednesday (Ap.19, 2017). Regards

  10. We hope everyone is having a great summer so far. Here in Arizona we are on the cusp of the monsoon season where we have hot, sunny temperatures mixed with dark clouds, and lightning filled thunderstorms. You can be getting sunburned one minute, and drenched in rain the next. It makes for some beautiful scenery and once you experience it, you will never forget it. This yearly seasonal weather pattern has inspired our latest experiment in pen-making. We have been experimenting for a while with different materials and finishes and have come up with some pretty cool results. This new pen represents the Arizona monsoon season, but in pen form. The orange body represents the heat/sun, the grey cap represent the storm clouds and silver grip sections represent the lightning that so often comes during our monsoon season. So, to celebrate some of the success we have had with some of the new finishes, we are going to try something new. Instead of our usual method of product testing, we are going to include more community members to give us feedback on our latest endeavors. Here is how it works. We are going to, through different means, give (yes, give) away a small number of this pen to gain feedback on materials and finishes. We want to hear it all. The good, and even the bad. The point of this is to be more in touch with our customer base and their wants and needs. So, if you are interested in getting your hands on one of these “Monsoon” pens to review, here is how to do it: Choose from the following options: Write us a short original essay on the topic “Made in America” and email it to us with the subject line “Monsoon Essay”. You don’t have to be a great writer, just tell us a story. Create original artwork inspired by “Made in America” and share it with us via email(subject line “Monsoon Artwork”) or Instagram (#monsoonreview). Please create something new, nobody says it has to be fancy, but don’t reuse old artwork. Artwork from all ages, including children, is encouraged. Take an original photo or video depicting what “Made in America” means to you and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #monsoonreview and tag @karaskustoms and @karaspenco. We can’t wait to see what you come up with. We will be choosing 3 people per category in a completely biased method based on our tastes and preferences. This is not a contest, we will pick our favorites in each category and that is who will win. Each category will be judged by a different employee, so you can enter each category to increase your chances of winning. Enter as many times as you want, but each entry must be unique. We will post the winners and their entries on this blog (http://blog.karaskustoms.com/). We will announce the winners on August 12th, 2016. You will have 48 hours to respond before we choose another winner. We are asking all winners of this giveaway to provide us with a review of the Monsoon pen. This can be as simple or as complicated as you wish, we just want to hear your thoughts. Good and bad, it doesn’t matter, but we want to hear from you. We obviously can’t make you review this pen if you are chosen, but it would be awesome if you did. Once again, we will choose the winners on Friday, August 12th. Good luck!
  11. Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here! I had previously seen pdfs available for printing seyes ruled paper, however none had lines as dark as I would have liked. I had found one with bold lines, however the liens were orange, and I wasn't exactly a big fan. After a few seconds in Photoshop, however, I changed the lines to blue, while still keeping their bold characteristics. Without further ado, I present to you the Bold Blue Seyes! Download Link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwDPjBLUa2T2Q0oyYXJseDMxZ2c http://i.imgur.com/rOeJbQp.png Please let me know if this is helpful, or if I should have posted this in a different place. 13. Sailor Kiwa-Guro Pigmented Black Ink Bottle 50ml. Goes to the first PM. ** Canada Only** This is a pigmented ink. Great for people that require waterproof inks.
  14. Happy February, everyone. I think most people know I sell ink in small quantities (link here). Sometimes people kick in a little extra, and half of that goes to PIF. This month the PIF pot is just enough to ship something in the US. I'm starting the PIF a little early, because the next week is going to be intense at work. I'm contributing a Leuchtturm 1917 notebook from my hoard stash collection bookcase, in the A5 size. While I love my Tomoe River journals, there's something really tactile and warm about Leuchtturm notebooks. Opinions on the paper vary, but I've always had very good luck on mine. They're a nice warm color, and there's a lot of detail that I like (i.e. page numbering, index pages, etc.) I put mine through a lot of abuse, and the spine/elastic have held fast. I have black dot ones, or you can have a red blank one, or a lined one in white, pink, green, brown, blue, light green, neon pink, neon yellow, or neon green. I have a lot, because they're great for color-coding discreet projects, and they're fun to put in little piles and good gifts. I'll also throw in 5 ml of ink of your choice (or mine, if you prefer!). To enter: PM me, or shoot me an email at davrosinside via yahoo.com, and let me know two inks you'd like to see me carry, or your favorite two inks at this very moment. Or, if you're new, what ink color(s) top(s) your list? I am accepting international submissions this month, if you're willing to pay the extra cost of international shipping. (This is probably only cost effective to Canada or Mexico, because international shipping is currently very high. It is likely cheaper to buy a notebook and ink anywhere else in the world.)

    Half-Price Iroshizuku In Uk!

Let me start by saying that I have NO affiliation with Amazon or the retailers selling these Pilot Iroshizuku inks On Amazon UK, if you search "iroshizuku", you can find almost the whole range for around only £15! Normally, one would have to pay around £30 for these. They're even shipped for free! I'm not sure if these retailers ship to other countries for free or sell elsewhere for the same price. So, if you want an Iroshizuku ink, but haven't gotten one because of the price, you're in luck! Unfortunately, the prices do change from time to time, but you can track the prices using http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/ Some links to the more popular inks: Kon-Peki http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pilot-Iroshizuku-Fountain-Pen-Ink/dp/B0018HJVS6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399811984&sr=8-1&keywords=iroshizuku+kon-peki Asa-Gao http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pilot-Iroshizuku-Fountain-Pen-Ink/dp/B001AX7TFA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399812002&sr=8-1&keywords=iroshizuku+asa-gao Yama-Budo http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pilot-Iroshizuku-Fountain-Pen-Ink/dp/B001PWFZ02/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399812748&sr=8-1&keywords=iroshizuku+yama-budo Fuyu-Gaki http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pilot-Iroshizuku-Fountain-Pen-Ink/dp/B002BV11I6/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1399812773&sr=8-10&keywords=iroshizuku Unfortunately, Tsuki-Yo was available, but I can't find it at this time. It will probably be re-stocked soon with the £15 price tag. I hope this was useful to you.
  18. I discovered these two sites a few weeks ago when I was looking for templates to print on my own paper for writing practice. I figured some of you might be interested in thiese two sites: http://www.printablepaper.net/ This site has all sorts of line templates available to print on your paper at home. Everything from the basic notebook line rule to college rule,,, 5mm square or dot, French ruled and tons more. All for free. The drawback is they have their website address at the bottom left od the template and you can't remove it unless you do it through some sort of photo editor program. I have printed some of the templates out on some of the nicer laser copy paper I have and was surprised. I have yet to get any expensive paper but will definitely be using this site when I do. http://www.freeprintablestationery.net/ Self explanitory and the designs are somewhat generic but some of you might find some you like. I for one am making some of my own stationary using some of my fine art photography as backgrounds.

    Agnes B Voyage

Review of: Agnes B Voyage, a freebie from the magazine MonoMax Oct. 2013 Issue. Japanese magazines quite often include freebies to induce increased purchase, and this one is no exception... I bought the magazine for the pen. It was included in the Oct. 2013 issue of MonoMax, as a tie-up of Agnes B Voyage series for men. Whatever it does, I probably shouldn't complain, because... well, it's free. So... ______________________________________________________________________ Appearance & Design (1-10) - Classic, some logo, not much frills. Very reminiscent of a certain well-known line The pen itself is black, made of shiny resin, or so I am assuming. The nib is also made of steel. The pen is attractive in design, although it's a clear copy of a Montblanc Meisterstuck series. Agnes B Logo and the name of the brand and the pen series is laser-printed in silver. http://i.co-site.jp/2013/sep/07monomax/1-s.jpg The pen and the magazine... http://i.co-site.jp/2013/sep/07monomax/7-s.jpg 8/10 Construction & Quality (1-10) - The clip doesn't function well, but otherwise it's sturdy The build is fairly sturdy, but the clip is clearly not well-fitted; it wobbles. The clip itself is made of steel, and the pen is made of resin. It's not a pen I'm willing to toss into my bag on the go, but it's also not a pen I'd be walking on eggshells to use. The nib certainly can take some beating. The pen was constructed in China. 6/10 Weight & Dimensions (1-10) - Long, slender, and HEAVY Weight: 28.8g total, cap: 9.7g, body: 19.1g Length: 14.1cm total, without cap: 12.2cm, posted: 15.8cm Width: Grip: 8mm to 9mm, barrel: 10mm at max, cap: 12mm at maximum. 7/10 Nib & Performance (1-10) - Wet and round The nib itself is simple. No marking whatsoever, just your plain ol' M nib in stainless steel. It's a fairly wet writer, and unlike Lamy, there is very little traction; I think this is due to the very round bottom. It shades well, but it's a slippery pen. The nib width is probably about 0.6mm. Posting the pen makes the pen rather heavy on the posted end, and this, in turn, feels as if I'm writing with a very, very long pen, or one of those novelty jumbo pencils. I do not suggest posting. http://i.co-site.jp/2013/sep/07monomax/10-s.jpg 7/10 Filling System & Maintenance (1-10) - Cartridge system, will take international converters The filling system is your regular international cartridge. The package does come with two short international cartridges in black, but I went ahead and just bought a regular international converter. Not much fuss there. 10/10 Cost & Value (1-10) - It's free. What can I say? Well, it was free. And it works (for now, anyway). I'm not going to complain, unless it decides to explode in my hands while I'm writing. The magazine itself focuses mostly on "the best stuff for dudes", including things like watches, shoes, camera, and outdoors jacket. 10/10 Conclusion - You aren't missing out, but it's not a waste of money either The magazine itself was 790 yen, tax included. The pen works, and it's a decent writer, if a little on the heavy side. Can't really go wrong with it. 8/10 (All images are copyright to kikra review site.)
