  1. Hello My Dear Fellows, I recall, that I mentioned that I already have an MB, even thoe I called my very first review "the first Montblanc Meisterstück". Well call my a liar, but the 121 doesn't count to me. I bought this pen for 50€ at a flew-market I worked at. It was in my even earlier days of collecting pens, so even the fact that I didn't get anything with this pen like a packaging or so didn't bother me. I went home full with joy and all this stuff because I just bought an MB! But this topic wasnt called "Tragedy" if there wasn't a tragedy. I filled the pen up with ink, so far so good, I began to write and thought 'wow what a nice nib.' (it really is a nice nib, lays down a fine-medium-broad line if u want it to.) The very first mistake I did was watching Peter Unbehauen and his handwriting-style. I wanted to adapt his rythm of flexing a nib. I did bend the nib. As soon as I started at the pen-shop in my city I got intouch with my loved "Pen-Doctor" who repaired the nib for free. The very second thing is, that the barrel has an scratch that deep that the ink spells out. This happened in my last exams. DURING the exams. ...Quite a mess. Yeah so this pen got me really mad. I was facinated by it and disgusted of all the failures that came along with this pen. That is the story behind the pen but I want to 'review' it. The pen features the Montblanc known color-sheme of gold and black. You have an really nice ink-window and an wing-nib. The nib offers some flex but as i mentioned, don't over-do it! If u'd asked me which nib is the smoothest of my collection I would give it to the 121's! Today I use the pen only as, if you want to call it so, dip-pen. Works quite well so I assume the feed does its job very good even after more then 4 decades. I'll show u an writing-sample and how the pen is used on my desk, let me know what you think about the pen and tell me some storys about your pens! Thanks for reading and have a wonderfull day! Regards, Vossi
  2. ASA – Galactic Jumbo Demonstrator ASA – Galactic was my first demonstrator. I never liked the demonstrators but i decided to go ahead with the purchase and amazingly I was the first one to buy this. Following is my review of the pen. Design & Build: My first demonstrator is a jumbo sized pen which has a fogged finish. The pen looks like what it is named “Galactic” The real beauty comes out when you ink up this pen. Aaaaah so beautiful. I have suddenly started liking the demonstrators. The pen is beautifully engraved with company logo on the barrel and also my name is engraved on the cap (Special thanks to Mr. Subramaniam). Made out of acrylic the barrel is in fog finish with crystal clear bottom and screw in crystal top at the cap. Filled with ink. Uncapped Pen with my Name engraved on Cap The grip section is again made of acrylic resin and i love the way the it shows ink spread out unevenly. It has a big nib which complements the pen perfectly. Clear Crystal Top and Bottom Built wise i believe it needs certain care as this is a acrylic pen. 4. Hi everybody, I've just seen the new video of PenChalet.com and I love the new NEFERTITI-QUEEN OF EGYPT limited edition by DELTA. 388 pens in the USA. What do you think about that? I just love this pen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZMdbdJGTH0 http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/HOgAAOSw3ydVy1j~/$_57.JPGhttp://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/rF4AAOSw~gRVy1kI/$_57.JPG
  5. Hey guys, Does anyone know where I can pick up a Lamy 2000 (for less than $200) in Canada? I live in the Greater Toronto Area and shipping/customs/exchange rate coming in from the US is expensive. I've seen some retailers charge $200+ for a Lamy 2000 and that is out of my price range right now but I am dying to get my hands on one. Any suggestions?
  6. Hello there folks! Thanks for letting me be in this forum! I was wondering are there any nib substitution for the Jinhao 129?

  8. Dromgoole's is hosting a pen event for Ken Jones (Vice President of Delta) with Delta Thursday, June 18th 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. 2515 Rice Blvd. Houston, Texas 77005 See you there!
  9. One of my newest accquistions is the Sailor Young Somiko Fountain pen in M nib. This is my first Sailor pen. I had bought it from pensindia.com, a subsidary of the famous engeika.com which provided japanese writing instruments. The service was quick and I was happy with Mr. Raul from pensindia who handles my correspondence promptly. All I can say is I am happy with their product and I will patronise them in the future (Disclaimer: No relation to pensindia.com or engeika.com) PACKAGING The pen comes in a small cardboard pack which houses a plastic pen case. The case contains the pen itself, a Sailor converter and two sailor catridges of black ink. The packaging is nothing to talk home about. It just does its job to deliver the pen. DESIGN The pen is a very sleek and minimalistic. The pen is made of black plastic with gold trims. Near the section, it says "SAILOR". It has a black finial surrounded by a gold ring on top. The clip is very stiff, but one can use with some care. The pen is very light and the balance feels good on this pen. It has a fairly long section and comfortable to write with for long times. One caveat is that since the plastic is very glossy, it picks up oils stains if one has sweaty hands. NIB The nib is a M nib. The somiko comes with a gold plated steel nib. Suprisingly, the Sailor M nib lays a line a touch wider than my Pilot Tank NOS M pen. There is a hint of feedback with the nib and it has a small sweet spot. I have to work on the nib as the horizontal strokes encounter more resistance than the vertical strokes. I got a standard Sailor converter (comparable to a CON 50 converter) which hold s upto 1-1.2 ml of ink. Since, it is a gold plated nib, the nib has some springiness to it and you can coax some line variation out of it, but I would'nt recommend it. The pen cannot be converted to an ED as it has metal threads in the section joining the barrel. Picture (left to right : Pilot metroploitan M, Sailor young Somiko M, Pilot Celemo 14K M) CONCLUSION This is a no nonsense pen which can be used for everyday carry. Since , it holds a good capacity of ink it can be used for long writing sessions. I bought this pen for INR 3000(~USD 48) which I think is an excellent value for money considering that it comes out with a converter. I would recommend this pen to a beginner.
  10. Hi! I'm looking for a good fountain pen. I'm a high-school student, I write very much (I use up a Platinum Preppy cartridge in about 2.5 days!), and I'm relativley new to fountain pens, I've only used a Preppy. I take apart/fix/modify/lose/break/bite my pens. So most of my pens are short lived... (I already managed to crack my Preppy after a week of usage) So I need a good pen in the $20-$30 category. I also have quite small hands. I live in Middle Europe. And I want a kind of a "cool" pen, but not too flashy, though this isn't a priority. I also like fine nibs. I also need the pen to support cartridges. Here are the pens I've tried out in shops: Platinum Preppy: Currently using this one, I like it very much, but I want a better one. ~$3Lamy Safari/Vista/Al-Star: Didn't really like it, grip wasn't too comfortable, and a bit ugly. ~$22Sailor High-Ace: I really liked this pen, especially the very fine nib. But the metal and plastic combination wasn't especially nice, and the plastic felt cheap. ~$15Parker Urban: Nope! ~$60Parker Vector: Very nice, liked it very much, but the metal grip wasn't too comfortable, and I'm sure, that I would bite on the plastic end, and the cap wouldn't fit anymore. ~$60Parker Jotter FP: This one was my favourite! The plastic grip was comfortable, it was small but fitted into my hands, looked cool. ~$60Pilot MR/Metropolitan: Was a bit bulky. And was only avaible in gold, which I didn't like too much, but otherwise a great pen. ~$40Kaweco Sport: Just plain ugly, and uncomfortable. ~$30(The prices are the prices of the pens in the shops, but I would order the pens from eBay.) So what do you think? And other recommendations? Any tips/tricks? BTW, is Luxor's quality as good as a normal Parker's? Thanks very much!
  11. Hey, I take a lot of notes at school, and usually carry cheap, lined paper sheets in my binder. My inks tend to have a lot of bleedthrough and feather on the cheap paper, and i was wondering if there is a company that sells lined paper sheets made for fountain pens. I know i could just use a notebook, but it makes it frustrating not being able to have individual sheets to work on. If anyone knows of any paper that would suit my needs, please leave a responce. Thanks Mutton
  12. Hello FPN friends, I recently obtained this lovely Sheaffer pen in a trade with a redditor. I don't know what it is, or how old it is, and I was hoping one of you experts could help me ID my new friend. It is an eyedropper fill, if that makes a difference, but I am not certain it was originally an eyedropper. Here are some photos, not the best quality, sorry! I'm not great at photographing pens. https://www.flickr.com/gp/k8seren/9iyG6n/ Thanks for reading!
  13. Hello, I am handwriting lover, in school, in college etc I always focused on my handwriting, I used to be obsessed that much with my handwriting that I used to change my handwriting daily in the school but after a long journey of this I finally made my hand legible enough to get a better grip on paper, so I have uploaded a sample of my handwriting here, my question is that 1) tell me that what type of handwriting is this? 2) Is this handwriting suitable for exams? 3) Is it legible and easy to read? 4) Is my handwriting beautiful good looking or bad looking? 5:) Should I continue to write like this? and please also rate my handwriting out of 10. Thanks.

My Parker 51 Writes Like A Desert: Dry.

Ok, so I recently found a Parker 51 vacumatic in Cordovan Brown in a local antique store, and I got it back from being repaired last week. The nib, while not scratchy, is very...dry. There is no lubrication at all from the ink, and the ink I put in (MB Toffee Brown) is normally a good performer. I watched Steven Brown's video on nib modification a while back, but the methods that he proposed didn't seem safe for the hooded 51. Any suggestions, or should I just buckle and dip into my shallow college student wallet to buy a medium Octanium nib?

  16. Hey there, I just bought a Lamy Safari for everyday use in school and all of that fun stuff. However, I really want to learn more styles such as Copperplate and Spencerian. From what I've heard: I need a pen with a flex nib. My question to you all: 1. Which pen do you recommend that has a good nib with good flexibility for Copperplate? Dip pen or fountain pen? Please be specific I am a student, so I have given my self a budget of 100$. Thanks In Advance, mountainrider

Help Id & Authenticate This Mb Please!

Hello, May someone please help me identify, and authenticate this MB fountain pen? I believe it's classic, but on the box it shows "1995 Montblanc" which doesn't seem to add up with the years of a classic pen? If I walked into a MB store, do you think they'll be able to authenticate it with it being so old? Do they authenticate at all in general? I live many hours away from one, and would hate to show up and get no help. I would greatly appreciate any help/ advice! **I apologize the quality is wonderful as I'm using a camera phone.
  18. SHORT EBONITE PEN. Please see my latest ebonite pen. 19. I heard the country of manufacture for these pens is on the box.packaging, but because I bought it from a second hand store, I did not get any of the original packaging. I've been trying to research the net where my Cross ATX Matte Chrome Fountain Pen is made in, but I cannot find anything conclusive. Would anyone have any ideas as to how I can find this out?
  20. Hello everyone! I really want to buy a Pelikan, and am indecisive of buying either a Pelikan m200 or spending more and buying the Pelikan m400. What are the differences. Im mainly interested in knowing the differences on nib writing quality, writing performance, and the pleasure you have in writing with the pens, however feel free to chime in and tell me more differences. Also, I would very much like to hear which one you prefer. Thanks!
