By working with small stripes of precious shell material, the artist of the Raden pen creates a beautiful, impressive piece of art. Each piece is truly unique. The first step to create the fountain pen Raden M800 Royal Gold is to give the surface a deep black impression by using the special Japanese Urushi lacquer. Then the typical stripes are made with particles from the precious white mother of pearl shell. A 24 carat gold foil is carefully affixed to the backside of these stripes. The stripes are fixed to the cap and barrel by a coating of lacquer. Finally, the artist individually signs and numbers each fountain pen with the Maki-e technique, which used to be reserved exclusively for Japanese Royals as an indication of their power. With the limited edition Raden series, Pelikan applies this wonderful Japanese decorative craft to fountain pen models of its famous Souveraen series. The Raden M800 Royal Gold fountain pens are masterpieces with finely-chased 18 carat gold nib in the size M, accentuated with a rhodium decor. Each fountain pen is encased in a traditional Japanese gift box which is made of Paulownia wood. The Raden M800 Royal Gold will be available mid-June 2017 in a limited edition of 388 pieces worldwide. Help A Noobie!

Hello everyone. I was given a Montblanc pen from my dad to sell. I know next to nothing about it. It's at least 15 years old, because that's when my dad got it from a relatives estate. No box or paperwork. It hasn't been used in at least 10 years. There's an ink cartridge (?) in it, but doesn't seem to write. I've attached a bunch of photos. My questions are... 1) What exactly do I have? 1) Should I get it working before I list it? How would I do that? 2) Where/how do you recommend I sell it and for how much? Thanks everyone!

  4. Hello FPN Members, I am a student who is currently looking for a budget fountain pen under Rs. 250. What would be the best choice? I am located in Delhi and I have looked through all online stores but alas, every budget pen is either unavailable or over priced. Can anyone tell me where to find one? Thanks

  7. I am in the market for a new pen. I am interested in getting a Montblanc Meisterstuck and have heard good things. Does anyone here own both a Meisterstuck 149 and a Meisterstuck LeGrand Rollerball? How do they feel when writing? How is the smoothness and effortlessness in writing when comparing the 149 to the LeGrand? I draw a lot of flow charts and simple diagrams and sometimes have to write out words and have arrows and am looking for something smooth and slick. I am currently using a pen with a Pilot G2 refill and wanted something nicer in both the quality and prestige of the body and effortlessness and slickness in writing. Has anyone gone into a boutique and was able to write with a demo pen at Montblanc or do they not allow for this sort of thing?

    Question About The Visconti Hs

Hello people =) this is my first post and sadly a not pleasant one, and here it comes, i just bought my visconti homo sapiens dark age, last week, first day worked (or it seem to) properly, afterwards when i uncaped it i got ink leak, cleaned the nib, cleaned the pen, the feed and everything and tried to use it again, but it again got some leak, ive read post about people getting leak issues with this fountain pen, however most of them (not to say all ive read) have leak from the union of the nib unit to the pen, my leakage is from the feed.. i clean the feed again and i get more leak just after writing a little bit, wonder if theres a way to fix it instead of sending it back to warranty, thanks in advance and great forum !

    Ruby-Red Pelikan M320

I just bought a brand-new Ruby Red M320 and I couldn't be happier with a pen. Now, I must preface my totally subjective remarks by saying I have very small hands and I love miniature anything, especially mini fountain pens. But when I ordered it, I had no idea it was such a teeny-tiny, adorable slip of a pen! I opened the box and was totally floored by how cute it looked, lying there in its full-size Pelikan container. At the same time, the classic beauty of this pen took my breath away. The finish on this pen is GORGEOUS. (I'm trying to attach photos to this review.) When I hold the pen up to the light, the pinkish flakes in its depths sparkle and shimmer in layers. It gives the rich, beautiful, ruby-red resin real depth. While writing with this pen over the last few days, I have frequently sat with it open for as much as five minutes at a time. Every time, as soon as I put nib to paper, it started right up without hesitation. This diminutive pen performs every bit as well as my other Pelikans. I had my M320 reground to a stub by the seller, and I am very happy with the results. The nib has a sweet little spring to it that adds flair to my writing. When posted, it will be plenty long for most writers. For those with very large hands, it may be a little too slim. That will depend on individual preferences. As for the amount of ink it can hold, it's about what you would expect for such a tiny pen. However, it didn't run out so often that it became irritating. And besides, when are we really so far from a bottle of ink that we can't refill a pen on demand? If I plan to take it away from home, it is a very simple matter to carry some ink in a sample vial, if I really think I'll be running out. I've done some serious writing with it over the past few days, and it's taken several hours to run dry each time. I guess you can tell I'm a little biased and I absolutely love this pen. It was not an inexpensive pen; yet, I am so happy with it, I am considering buying the Pearl M320. That's not so unreasonable when you consider that my collection has lots of minis in it. The Ruby Red M320 is the most classically beautiful and adorable pen I own. I am finding every excuse to write with it. Actually, who needs an excuse, anyway?
  10. I found Montblanc Meisterstuck fountain pen on local "Buy and Sell" web site. I'm planing to buy this pen for my collection. I new to fountain pen collecting and don't know much about Montblanc pens, but I know that there are lot of fake MB pens out there. Can someone tell which model this is and can you tell from photos is it genuine? I saw that it has engraved "Germany" and serial number on pin. Does this model have engraved "Pix" on back of the pin? These are the photos that seller sent to me. Thank you.
  11. I was given a Goldring fountain pen along a couple of years ago with a bunch of other FPs and didn't think too much about it. It looked like a cheap tacky pen that I usually toss to the bottom of a drawer. Anyway, I decided to go through the drawer and clean the pen - it had ink in the cap and all over the section etc. There are no markings on the pen itself. The cap is marked "Goldring" and "W. Germany". The nib is marked "Iridium Point". The pen appears to be a cartridge/converter style pen. It is quite weighty, feeling metal not plastic barrel and cap, but the section is plastic. The finial is a pointed style like a Parker. I noticed a line around the end of the barrel like a piston filler and twisted it with no luck. However, something made me pull on it and voila the end of the pen shot out and inside is what can only be termed a "secret compartment". You will see from the photo there are two raised pieces and an embossed style logo that looks like a fishtail. I can't quite see if it is a fish, whale or a mermaid So my questions are: Why does the pen open? What is the compartment for? Anyone know anything about the Goldring brand? (besides being German) https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3779/33021607536_7e63581137_o.jpg
  12. Hello, Hoping there's someone who can advise! A vicar is looking for a fountain pen with a fine nib, that will be completely safe to use with his carbon document ink. Any ideas or suggestions would be really appreciated! Thank you in advance.
  13. Wife gifted the Bexley Owner's Club 2017 pen (left) in Lapis to me, while my mother in law got me the the other 2, Bexley Poseidon Magnum in Cream and Purple (middle) and the Blue Bamboo Walking Stick (right). Both in medium nib sizes, my favorite. In the Lapis, I'm running Private Reserve DC Supershow Blue, thanks to an ink exchange with FPN member richofthetower. The Creme and Purple is running J. Herbin Violette Pensee ink cartridge and the Blue Bamboo is running J. Herbin Vert Pre ink cartridge. I also got gifted some Rhodia pads and J. Herbin ink cartridges - Vert Pre, Orange Indien, and Eclat de Saphir. My brother sent me a vert nice custom printed stationary set with matching envelopes. Already tested it out for fountain pen friendliness and happy to report that it is very friendly. From a company called American Stationary. My mom sent me some Dollar General pads that were made in indonesia. I was a little skeptical, but it turns out that the "cheap" $1 pads held up to all my currently inked pens! Going to go to the local Dollar General and see if they have any and if so, I'm buying up the whole lot. Anyway, it was a great Christmas pen haul! Hope others had good luck in their holiday on the pen front!

    Help Id

Hello everybody. I inherited a collection of pens of various brands of my family and I'm thinking of selling some. I'm not a person who collects pens, and the truth is that probably there are some that are worth a lot of money. It turns out that there is one that is giving me headaches to find. During the last two days I have searched the internet looking for any information on the model of the pen and found nothing.I wonder if there is someone who knows this model and, if you know can please tell me what model is?The pink rocks that the pen has are rubies? What websites do you recomend to sell them? (ebay, amazon...) I appreciate all your help. I am new to this world of pens. Kind regards,Mozzy

    Novice Classic Pen Owner

Received several classic old pens from my father-in-law's estate, including a couple of good fountain pens, and a Kohinoor Rapidograph 3060 No.4 that I can't figure out how to fill. I've taken it apart, and am completely at a loss (and I'm fairly mechanically-minded, so this is really bugging me). I have looked all over for instructions to refill the pen, but can't find any others that look like mine. Any suggestions? Can you recommend a thread that might help me out? Thanks!!!
  18. Hi guys! I've recently bought a Hero 372-2 and 382 for a friend. As I'm giving it as a gift, I intend to give her an ink cartridge as well. 24. Hi guys, it has been a long time that I am struggling for legible and good handwriting, I went through different types of handwriting, first I wrote in cursive but never became fluent with it then I tried separate words but were looking kind of childish writing, then I wrote on middle of the line then again I jumped back on the line with different techniques of writing, so I came to this form so that you good people can help me improve my handwriting. My one more problem is that I can write in more than 20 styles (2 of which are attached in the photo) this has became problem for me because which one style should I finalize and choose. My handwriting attached in this photo are 2 writings, open photo it will be named "1" and "2" in other photo attached (written in red colour on the photo) so you people can distinguish between two different handwritings of mine, my both handwritings in both pics are legible means I can write it fast and fluent but tell me by looking at the photo that is such writing acceptable or not and which one should I choose, thanks.
