    Montblanc 163 Rollerball

I would like to buy my wife a Montblanc 163 Rollerball. However, I have read here that this is one of the most faked Montblancs. Can someone tell me what to look for to tell an authentic 163 from a fake?
  2. hello parker forum, i am by no means a parker user or expert, but i have just won two auctions with parker pens in them, and i have a question in mind. this is the listing link for you to see the pics since i cannot upload any photos to the forum at this moment http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-parker-fountain-pens-/332110065680?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=2gyU4abi60YdbdRUI2T24Wu9X4Q%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc my question comes from seeing enough parker knock offs on chinese shopping sites which do in fact use actual parker images in their listings. the feedback on those listings often mentions the pen being good, indistinguishable from real, or something like that. i was wondering if i may have bid on fake pens, is there anyone who has seen the knock offs or knows if they are distinguishable from the genuine product? do the pens in the listing seem real? what are their models called so i can google them? and what do you personally think of them?
  3. Hello I am new to this forum and a new user to fountain pens... I have this pen which I assume is a fake Montblanc 144 unless the more knowledgeable members of this forum may think it is possible authentic. I would appreciate any thoughts, opinions based on the pictures I have attached Even if it is a fake am I correct in the model number? Thank you
  4. Hi!! Two days ago I bougth at Mexico city (where I live) a faceted fountain pen, wich looks as a Parker Vacumatic oversize. I was searching in the web in orden to confirm if it is an authentic Parker, but I didn't get any information or images about faceted Parkers. The pen description is: Barrel engraved: "Parker Vacumatic USA" (the "V" is engraved on the "R") Long with cap: 13.5 centimeters (5 1/4") Barrel diameter: 1.6 centimeters (5/8") Color: Borgoña Faceted barrel and cap Apparently, the original nib was replaced with a "Harley Davidson" nib (!!!). Can you help me to confirm if it is an authentic Parker? If it's an authentic pen, what is the correct nib for it? I'm attaching some pictures. Thanks! Jorge.
  5. Recently I got my hands on this supposedly green striated 120 Merz & Krell https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/uploads/imgs/fpn_1511041362__pelikan_120_striated.jpg As a green striated Merz & Krell 120 was never documented I asked one of the Pelikan Gurus in Germany about his opinion. He reminded me that the 400NN from Merz & Krell has the same size of barrel. Here the two side by side https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/uploads/imgs/fpn_1511041384__pelikan_120_400nn.jpg In fact the only difference is in the section: The 400NN has a flared section and the 120 a strait one. I took out the nib of a real 120, the straited one and a 400NN and took a photo side by side from the front (120 left, 120 striated middle, 400NN right) https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/uploads/imgs/fpn_1511041122__comparison1.jpg You can see that the 120 has a smooth front and the 400NN has 6 small indentation in the front, the striated in the middle has the same indentations and other signs that it was machined from a 400NN barrel. Conclusion: Someone has fabricated a 120 green striated, using a barrel from a green striated 400NN If this was done by a worker in the factory or later we will probably never know, but there could be another hint, All of the 120 M&K I have, have a Pelikan120 imprint in the cap plastic, The cap that came with the pen has no cap imprint, but it has the correct capband with the correct stamping. Anyone has heart about this pen before???
  6. Hi, I've bought a new Parker Jotter pen from an ebay seller from Hong Kong, for 2GBP + 3GBP shipment. I thought it was cheap but still reasonable. There are some things that make me suspect it is not a genuine Parker. It feels differently than a previous Parker Jotter I had, but I lost the previous, so I can't compare side by side. It arrived with black ink, even though the pen is blue. This one feels less smooth to write (it can be a fake refill, but it's less likely to happen when buying a genuine Parker). It is harder to press (more rigid spring). The engraving on the pen looks rough, and I remember the previous having a gentle and thin engraving. Can anyone confirm my suspicion, or say that this is still a genuine Parker? Thank you, Uval
  7. Hello guys, ive got this montblanc card holder and i dont know if its authentic. The card holder feels like high quality product, it has hologram tag inside and stitching is almots perfect in my opinion. Unfortunately i dont have a receipt or box. Thanks in advance. Pics below
  8. Having a mild interest in adding another Classique to my S T Dupont pens, I came across an advertiser in the land of Oz, offering a Classique and a Montparnasse, as well as a whole bunch of other much more expensive pens. The advertiser has a good seller rating and many followers. He offers a 30-day money back guarantee, and said that all goods were owned by him, collected over many years. However (and leaving aside all matters of price), my caution came from the fact that the "Montparnasse" is quite obviously not. Neither pen comes with box or papers, yet of the "Montparnasse" (it looks to me like a Classique) he said it had been dipped only, never used. This seemed odd. If you buy a pen and dip it only, it seems less likely to me that you would also discard or lose the box and papers. I wrote and asked about this. While I was at it, I asked whether my Waterman converter would fit or whether I would need an international converter *. This was the reply, which I think it reasonable to publish here: "I have no idea if the converter will fit or not. It takes common cartridges so writing with it is no problem. I used to travel a lot when I was working overseas. Every time I was near a duty free e.g. Hong Kong, Schipol in Amsterdam etc I tended to pick up a pen as I did collect them. In a hand luggage that would have been the first thing to throw away the box. I never thought I would sell my pens so they have been in a display case for years. Now I am old and have no use for them. I know they are genuine because they were mostly from authorised Airport Duty Free shops around the world. Hope this clears." I do not intend to buy from this seller. I have better options, assuming I do anything at all. However, I am interested in considered views. Reputation and story on one hand, obvious error and the explanation on the other. * I am quite aware that Duponts up to the Montparnasse take neither of these converters. edit:typo
  9. Hi, I recently obtained this MB Meisterstuck ballpoint pen. I know this is a FP forum, but maybe someone can help me on Ballpoints! I have doubts on whether its a genuine MB.. I have attached a few photos. 1. The "pix" is on the band, not under the clip. Under the clip has "made in Germany" - is this common? 2. There is a serial number. IW1666858 3. The bottom part of the pen (under strong light) goes slightly red. Any help would be great! Many thanks.

Is This A Fake Parker Jotter?

I've just purchased this Parker Jotter from Amazon and I'm a bit suspicious because none of my other Jotters have markings like this one on the arrow bit. In the picture I've attached the pen on the left is the one I've purchased, and the one on the right is a Parker Jotter that I've owned for a few months.
  11. Hello Everyone, I know this is not a fountian pen but I have seen other visconti questions on here and cant seem to find any other resources. I recently bought a Visconti Homo Saipan through eBay and have a suspicion that it is a fake. The pen felt lighter than I remembered my friends being and the logo on the cap is a version I have never seen.(the logo makes me the most supicious) It did however come in what seems to be real Visconti packaging. Thank you for any help you can provide. The copy on the crest ready "Visconti Made in Italy"
  12. Amazon is offering a Pelikan Souveran 1000 GT. The description is identical to an M1000. Is this a true Pelikan or a copy? I can't find any reference to a "GT" on the Pelikan website. They also offer an 800 GT etc. It's attractive because its approximately $50 less than a M1000. Any help is appreciated. https://www.amazon.com/Souveran-1000-GT-Fountain-Pen/dp/B001T3I374/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485299644&sr=8-1&keywords=Pelikan+M1000

Anyone Ever Encounter A Fake Logo?

Hello all! Just a concerned buyer's question: while we are all familiar with the fake Lamy Safari, has anyone ever encountered a fake Lamy Logo ever?

    Is This A Fake ?

My cousin purchased this Waterman fountain pen, which from the style looks like a hemisphere. On further inspection, it appears to me to be a really good replica. I've come to this decision as there were a few differences to my hemisphere. I would really like to establish if this is a replica, or an older style of the hemisphere. Muavia
  15. found this while browsing around: http://www.ebay.in/sch/deepak380790/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= Those pics seem genuine - have the chinese faked MB's pens this well nowadays? Are there well known fakes of MB products like Hero and Jinhao clones?
  16. Hello FPN, I have several Japanese Fountain Pens including 2 Sailor Realos, Pilot Custom 74, etc. So I wanted to add a Platinum President since I'm a big fan of the Preppys. I got my pen today and cleaned it thoroughly since it was preowned. When I inked it up, it felt scratchy. I know Japanese pens provide some feedbacks but this was scratchy. Also, the fine was too fine even for a Japanese Medium. I did a bit of research online and found that Presidents have a heart shape breather hole. The pen I got has a round breather hole. Everything else looks fine. The pen has a good build quality that looks too real to be a fake. So I'm posting a few pictures here and hope someone can help me determine if it's authentic. If you need closeup, please let me know. I have some micro-mesh to smooth out the scratchiness if needed but I paid a good amount and hope I didn't get a good replica. Thanks for the help, Ken

    Real Or Fake?

Hello MB collectors, I am not very well versed in Monblanc pens. I own a 146 and two 144's, but I have a question about another pen I was about to buy...but it smells funny (not literally. I mean I have an uneducated hunch.) For starters, I have never seen a Starwalker in red, but as I said, I know little about MB's. Is this a real Montblanc? Is it so obviously Fraudulent that you can tell from these pictures? Would love to hear anything anyone can tell me. Many Thanks,Professor B

    Mont Blanc Boheme

How can you tell a fake Mont blanc boheme
  19. I found this one for a suspiciously good price... it looks like a Burgundy Cruise Collection but the trim is gold, none of the Cruise Collection have gold trim. And yet... here's what looks like a genuine (but vintage) Montblanc burgundy with gold trim that has a similar shape: http://www.ebay.com/itm/EUC-BOX-Montblanc-Classic-Burgundy-Bordeaux-Gold-Ballpoint-Pen-VINTAGE-RARE-/172121724109 So -- what are your thoughts. Is the 'mystery' pen real or fake?
  20. Relative newby here, apologies if this is posted in the wrong spot. I've read a lot about detecting fraudulent Mont Blanc postings and pens on this site, but I think as more of such postings are available the smarter the counterfeiters become! I'm looking at a few pens right now from online sellers (mostly eBay and some antique sites) and am really concerned that nearly every one is a fake. These are not cheap pens, with asking prices in the high hundreds to low thousands for some of them, but every one has some suspicious elements... However, I've not been able to find postings here that address some of the details I'm curious to get some group input on. Apologies for the volume of questions but I'm hoping to start piecing this information together before I make some purchases. Attached are a couple of photos of things I believe are questionable. The pens I'm looking at are 1) the 75th Anniversary sterling silver 144 & 146 Barley with rose gold, 2) the Meisterstuck 146 Legrand sterling silver barley AND pin stripe Solitaire, 3) Meisterstuck sterling silver Solitaire 144 in barley. All pens are sterling silver on both cap and body. Can anybody help with the following?: 1. Is the number 925 always stamped on all of these models rather than engraved? I've seen pictures of what appears to be both on various sites. 2. Is the "Ag" insignia always associated with the presence of the number 925? I'm seeing inconsistencies across the lines, and even between pens in a line - is it only the 75th Anniversary that has "Ag 925"? 3. Should the number font - specifically the "9" in the "1924" stamped on the body of the 75th Anniversary addition - be identical to the font on the "Ag 925" stamp? (this is not the case on one I'm looking at) 4. Is a serial number universally included on all these pens from MB, or have SNs ever been "optional" for some lines based on "dealer preference" (I'm being told this by one seller) 5. Have you ever seen a serial number or "W. Germany" stamp on the clip band that was NOT perfectly centered in the band, but instead riding just above the bottom line of the band (but still straight)? This is the case with one of the Legrand 146 pin stripes I'm looking at 6. I've read here that every MB pen in precious metal has "METAL" stamped on the clip band, does this also apply to every pen line I'm looking at? Thank you so much for any help!!

    Mb Fakes

Who bids on these pens? $290 for a fake roller. Wow. Whomever bought it, my heart goes out for him. Unfortunately this seller has been going at it for awhile now - A garbo roller, a boxed 163 Bordeaux (serial IW1666858) etc. Buyers, please beware of kobip25 (who also goes by shir_elias123).
  22. Hello, My grandfather was a fountain pen person, so there are many fountain pens rolling around in random places in our house (One day, I found a Parker behind a toilet...). Anyway, I found this Montblanc 149 in my grandfather's old room. Is this pen real or fake? When was this pen made? Is that rust in the nib, or is the color supposed to be red? Thank you. William S. Park
  23. Hey guys. Just found your forum today as my wife has found a sudden interest in fountain pens and would like one for Christmas. As such, I was looking for something in the middle of the road price range, not too cheap, but not exorbitant. From what I've read, Lamy seems to both provide a pleasant writing experience and priced right for beginners. I see the Safari is very popular but I thought the aluminum build quality of the Al-star would make for a better present. I've found them listed on Amazon for less than what I can find them for in local retailers, and was wondering if anyone here has experience dealing with Amazon or their third party retailers for Lamy pens? I've read there are lots of concerns with fakes, and the occasional review on Amazon.ca says they received a fake. So while I want to get the best bang for my buck, I'm hoping any experiences people can share can help me avoid the folly of purchasing a fake Lamy pen. Here is link to the amazon.ca product/seller I'm interested in. It says sold by Stylish Kitchenware and fulfilled by Amazon.ca. Obviously the name of the vendor raises flags as it seems it would be quite eclectic for a store named that to sell writing implements. The reviews seem mostly positive for them with no mention of fakes, but instead of receiving black ink, they received blue. http://www.amazon.ca/Lamy-AL-Star-Fountain-Graphite-Cartridges/dp/B00V56CHKE/ There's also there's the shipped and sold by Amazon.ca option which is more expensive and doesn't come with additional ink refills. While this particular link doesn't have any reviews that suggests they received fake products, others sold by Amazon do. http://www.amazon.ca/Lamy-Al-Star-Fountain-Purple-L29F/dp/B002YQF69I/ This Lamy Safari ships from and sold by Amazon.ca is one example that had reviews that the product sent was a fake. In the reviews one user even posted pictures comparing to a genuine pen. http://www.amazon.ca/Lamy-Safari-Fountain-Pen-Charcoal/dp/B0002T401Y Lastly if you have any suggestions for other online retailers (Canadian preferably) that you've had good experience with (genuine products) with similar price points or at least better than brick and mortar stores, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. C
  24. Hi all, I am a lover of writing instruments and new to luxury brands. My earlier years have been spent on shoes and bags! Last night I was at an auction and bought the following Mont Blanc. I'm having a hard time researching it online and am starting to believe it may be a fake. Can anyone help me confirm? I'm visiting my parents and when I return home next week plan to visit my local shop but won't embarrass myself if this is clearly fake. I will spend some time going through old forums over the next few months to learn a few things as well. I'm very excited about learning more and buying! Pictures are attached but details are as follows: Serial on the side of clip are MDL33964L Around the clip are three vertical lines followed by Mont Blanc and three more vertical lines The refills says Documents Fix Germany and another code. Six rounded points on the floating star The included book reads Mont Blanc The art of writing. (All caps) Garantie Guarantee then Chinese writing. Thank you all for your help. I will learn more and avoid these silly posts in the future.

    Montblanc 144 Fake Or Genuine?

Hi I have recently bought a MontbBlanc from a ebay seller in Spain. This is my first Montblanc, so I need your helps and I really appreciate that. I have given that this item was bought form Montblanc Iberia SLU Regalos de Empresa, Tel: 934463969 in Spain and 100% authentic. The number of International Guarantee Certificate is 105657 and the number on the clip of this pen is YH1360467. But when I went to The Pen Shop in Meadowhall - a Montblanc Boutique in UK to send it to MontBlanc Service to restore, then they said to me that this pen is not genuine or fake. I am not sure that she was right or not, since she could not point up that is the old version of Montblanc 144 with the gold ring around the nib and just compare this item with the new one. But I think she have some reasons to believe it is fake ( some photos explain for those reasons attached ). Then I went to Ernest Jones - another Montblanc boutique in UK to check it again, and they said to me that it look like genuine and that is okay. But I also do not think these guys is experts, as they just took a cursory look but not carefully investigate it. Thus, it made me so confused, so please help me to verify this item! Many thanks.
