This pen was given away to a friend, as an introduction to capless fountain pens. As she professes to write small, and had been frustrated by some Fine nibs (and was unimpressed by a Pelikan M205 EF nib), I wanted to confirm for myself as well as demonstrate that, after I worked on its nib, it is able to put down fine enough and crisp enough lines to support small handwriting. The selection of two inks known to be dry was thus intentional; and I also had spare bottles to give her along with the pen.© A Smug Dill

White Lightning Ink Additive: anyone know of a UK retailer?

HI, I'm new to the network having a revived interest in fountain pens over lockdown, resurrecting some old pens and adding a few (too many!) new ones... lots of fun!! I have some pretty dry inks and some F and EF nibs, and after research I'm wondering if getting some White Lightning Ink Additive might help the pens write a bit wetter. However, I cant seem to find a UK retailer that stocks the product and paying almost $40 for shipping seems a bit OTT... Does anyone know of a retailer that stocks it in the UK or Europe? Inky T O D - Making Inks Drier - Dryer - Drying Additives?

There are recent topics on additives to make ink "wetter", more flowing, such as detergent or PhotoFlo (or maybe other things). Are there additives that give the opposite effect? --that make ink "dryer", slow the flow, retard absorption into paper, make a nib write a narrower line? Thank you for describing them if so, or for clearly stating that no such thing is known to Ink Fandom if not. -
I'm a fan of 'dry' (less lubricated) inks and over the last two years used exclusively the Diamine Registrar's/ESSRI, Salix and Pelikan 4001 blue black. Are there other similarly dry inks available? I would like to try something new, new colours and I'm not particularly concerned about permanency or its lack anymore.

How To Make A Light, Dry Ink More Wet Without Severely Diluting It?

The ink in question is Kingdom Note's "Aequorea Coerulescens" (https://www.kingdomnote.com/item/2717001422257) and I swear to god if I hadn't actually put in it my pen myself I would have exclaimed "WITCHCRAFT!" and asked how the person made a fountain pen write colored pencil. It's THAT dry. I've already put it in my best pen, a vintage-style Omas Paragon, and it is still bone dry. Are there any steps I can take to improve the flow without severely diluting this already light ink? Thank-you for your help! -Arctic Wolf -
I have a bottle of MB Oyster Grey and as much as I want to like it, I find it way too dry. I didn't want to waste it and was wondering what I could mix it with that may help with the dryness. I have this ink at my holiday home where I only have a few inks, so the choice is limited. The end result (see below) is 6 parts OG & 1 part Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo. The ink is still a little dry and next time I think I'll try 5 parts OG to 1 part YB. YB is so saturated it dominates OG, hence the 6:1 ratio. I like the colour. Unfortunately the pic. shows the ink as slightly more grey than in reality but it was taken with my iPad on a dull day.

I ordered this ink on impulse. I was re-ordering a bottle of Skrip Black, which I find works well in almost every pen. At the same time, I was experiencing frustration finding just the right ink for my Stipula Etruria Mila Gold Rush. I found some inks that behaved well but were not the color I wanted, and some with colors I liked with this pen but were (mostly) too wet, even pretty dry inks like Diamine Prussian Blue which was close but not perfect. So, I added Skrip Blue-Black to my shopping cart. Not a major investment, and I was sure it would get used in other pens, if it didn't do the job in the Etruria. The Skrip Blue-Black arrived this morning. I washed out the pen and re-inked it. It was amazing. It met all my criteria! I found few mentions of this ink on FPN and only a very few old reviews. None of them addressed the strong points I was seeing, so I thought I would throw my observations out for comments. Happy writing! David
