  1. Hello there, I would like to ask for you to kindly inform me if you love Noodler's Dragon's Napalm, if it has been like a fluke for you, or if your mind has stayed blown by it for a longer time. It's like this: In my Everyday-carry pen - A Kaweco Colleg 550A, piston-filler, vintage semi-flex, fine - I currently use Rohrer&Klingener Scabiosa and it's a great ink. Really well behaved, feels a bit dryer and that works well with that jumpy flex nib. Now, initially I liked that it is purple, yet not very flashy. But then after a while, when looking through my notes in notebooks, i thought, 'Actually, I would be perfectly okay with there being a bit more flash. In fact, I'd go for a big bang right about now really. And then, you know how it is, you see reviews of inks like Dragon's Napalm and the reviewer is in awe of how special and krazy (and also well behaved) and unique and cool a certain ink is. So I'm really intrigued by it right now. Now you might say, 'Well duh! Easy, just get a sample first and try it.' Yes, but living overseas where Noodlers inks aren't available locally, makes that hardly economical. For the cost of one 2ml vial + shipping, i'd have already paid 40% of a 3o.z. bottle+ shipping. So, what do you think about DN? Is it really that 'great'? Have you used it but then you have gotten over it again? Is it a one-trick-pony or actually a precious dragon? Would i grow tired of it long, long, long, before finishing a massive 4.5 o.z. bottle? (I'd really like to get that not-actually-free pen as well, as long as it's the preppy and not the other one. Please share with me your thoughts. Thank you. I was also considering Diamine Sunset for the same niche, but I have read some reviews that sounded more 'okay, than 'great' and mentioned some faults like forming crystals on a nib. Do you have any thoughts on that ink as well?

    Noodler's Ink - Dragon's Napalm

*originally posted on my Instagram. Ink Review: Noodler's Ink, Dragon's Napalm. Grade: 58.75%. Paper: Norcom Composition. Noodler's Dragon's Napalm (DN) is one of those colors that I may have never bought on my own. Fortunately, a 3oz bottle was given to me as a gift. I would call DN either a fulvous or a deep cadmium color. Or, if you're from Tennessee like me, Volunteer orange. DN may look like a highlighter ink, but a pretty long drying time may make you think twice about using it as such. If you can get past the long dry times, DN will burn off the page. You may find DN to be one of those inks that is a little hard to read on its own and may even strain your eyes if you stare at it too long. DN isn't waterproof, bulletproof, or eternal, so it's pretty easy to clean. Even from your hands so long as you wash them quickly enough. But, DN is fluorescent. If you shine a black light on it you'll probably be reminded of a construction workers safety vest. However, it is interesting to note that when I put water drops and hand sanitizer onto the ink, the portions washed out glowed just as bright as Noodler's Blue Ghost. Just be aware, that according to the Noodler's properties chart that DN does not respond to all UV wavelengths. I was fortunate that it reacted to mind. DN is a smooth writing ink that will be prone to feather. Especially on cheap office paper. I've done some flex writing with a Zebra G nib, but the ink explodes and bleeds heavily unless I use some pretty nice paper. You're not going to get very much shading out of DN, which is a shame because of its beautiful color. I think I'll try to put some Whiteness of the Whale in a sample to see what happens. Overall, I love DN. The bright color and severe feathering and bleeding may not be for everyone, and I get that. But, if you love orange, and feel like you can handle a a Hungarian Horntail, then I would highly recommend this ink.

    Noodler's Dragon's Napalm

My recent short trip to Texas led me to Dromgoole's Pen Shop, which received rave reviews about the service and selection. Naturally, once I got there, I headed straight to their ink selection, which had a large assortment of Noodler's inks. This is my first Noodler's surprisingly, so I didn't know what to pick up. But I remember watching this ( ), so I decided it would be an interesting choice to play with. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the color of it! This review will be in my normal format, with a picture following a short description of it, above it. Another note, this is a VERY hard ink to photograph, so I have done my best to ensure color accuracy. We will start with a preview of the ink. It's a really interesting and bright color at first look. http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Ink.JPG For the pen, I used my go-to Nemosine Singularity Demonstrator with a TWSBI B nib. The B nib is a bit thinner than the western B, but nothing major. It's really smooth and awesome. http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Nib.JPG The review is written on what is now discontinued, HP 28lb Copy paper. It's my go-to paper as well, at least till I run out of it. HP 32lb is also nice! http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Paper.JPG Here is a swab of the ink, showing some color variation. The label says that it is the only "Sepia shading, carmine ink." I beg to differ. I see no sepia, nor carmine, which I expect to be a dark-ish red. Still, I like the color very much! http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Swab.JPG Onto the characteristics of the ink. The ink is very well behaved, and does not exhibit any noticeable feathering, or bleed through. Also, the color shifts between a bright orange, and a noticeable pink, under different types of lighting. Also, the color is highly saturated, but does not stain any converters, or barrels of demonstrators. Very minimal shading is present, contrary to what the label would have you believe. It flows well, and provides decent lubrication. http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Characteristics.JPG http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Characteristics%202.JPG The ink does not have an overly long dry time, but it is definitely not the fastest. I don't mind the current dry time, the way I write, so its not a problem. http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Dry%20Time.JPG Here is a small comparison to my other ink colors which I happen to have loaded. Use these as a calibration for the pictures, and your monitor. I didn't intend them to compare similar inks. http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Comparison.JPG Lastly, here is the water test. The top grid of the test had water drops placed on them for 10 seconds, then vigorously wiped downwards. The bottom text did not receive any drops and was only wiped, to show ink smearing. The test showed noticeable lifting of the ink, but still leaving a little on the page. The ink has a medium amount of smear. I would not consider it waterproof. http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Water.JPG http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Water%20After.jpg Almost forgot! Here is a scan of the ink. Use it to read the review, and not for color accuracy. It is very far off. The pictures are a better representation. http://files.goviralforyou.com/Inks/Reviews/Noodlers/Dragon's%20Napalm/Scan.jpg That's all folks! I would give the ink a decent 8/10, due to the lack of waterproofness. If you like this review, stay tuned for many more!
