  4. Hey everyone, So im new here as a member, but I've been browsing the forums as a guest for quite a while, and one thing ive noticed is lacking is a single thread talking about Indian pens that are excellent deals, and ones that aren't worth even the cheap price. Recently ive stumbled across a wonderful website called fountainpenrevolition.com which im sure many of you have heard of, where they sell many many many kinds of Indian fountain pens, most of which are very inexpensive. This intrigued me, because id never seen much on Indian fountain pens. So in short: I think it would be nice to use this thread as kind of a compiled list of all known knowledge on these Indian pens. In your experience are there Indian pens that were cheap yet are beautiful writers and part of your daily use? Or are these seemingly low prices really too good to be true? Which pens do you suggest? Which do you suggest not getting?

  6. While I appreciate the experience of writing on high quality paper, I’m not keen on paying full price for it. And since I imagine many of you feel the same, perhaps we can alert each other to any great deals and deep discounts we come across at various retailers, particularly the online ones. Do you know of any great deals on paper and pen paraphernalia happening now? Let's share!
  7. Just saw this on Goulet Pens' website: They have a new version of the Duragraph, the "Merlot," which is a red/purple flecked design. https://www.gouletpens.com/conklin-duragraph-fountain-pen-merlot-1.1mm-stub/p/CK71383 According to their blog post, it is exclusive to Goulet Pens. Right now they have the 1.1 stub and medium in stock, fine is currently not in stock, though they take #6 nibs so a swap would be easy. They're offering the Merlot initially at $35 instead of the $52 the other Duragraphs go for on their site. Finally, they still have an outstanding promo for a free 90ml of Monteverde Ink with any Conklin, so that's a Duragraph w/converter and 90ml bottle of ink for $35. I might have gotten lucky with mine since I hear QC isn't pristine at Conklin, but my green Duragraph with a 1.1 stub is one of my favorite pens and writes wonderfully. I considered it a deal at $50 -- $35 puts it squarely in "starter pen" territory, and I'd consider it superior to any of the other pens I've tried at that price. For any interested - enjoy! ~AK

    Amazon.co.uk

I noticed a market watch thread for Amazon, but that's US based. Therefore, thought I'd start a UK one :-) Recently I purchased 5 x Oxford Campus A4 wire bound notepads for £10.50, plus a parker duo fold demi for £65. Currently they have the A5 version of the Campus notepads at a good price - I find the paper to be very fountain pen friendly - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oxford-Campus-Wirebound-Notebook-Assorted/dp/B00AUV70SE/ref=lp_5348989031_1_15?s=officeproduct&ie=UTF8&qid=1417788852&sr=1-15

Back In Stock... Marlen Aleph Fountain Pen!

Every now and then, I come across a pen that is of particular value combined with a unique capability. The flexible Marlen Aleph pen shown above is such a pen. It is a piston filler with a nib made from fine harmonic steel that allows a beautiful calligraphic script. The harmonic steel nib guarantees a good flow for a controlled flex making a line of 1.0 to 1.5 millimeters. To control the flex of the nib, the pen presents two lateral cuts to accomplish a functional task without overshadowing the aesthetic component. The body of the pen is made of mother-of-pearl resin in lava grey or black refined with a full stainless steel barrel fully inspired to the old flat tops, without any kind of ornaments (rings and more) to divide the line. The pen is 143 mm of length; 111 mm for the body and 62 mm for the cap. The total weight is 30.9 grams (complete and refilled) of which 10.4 grams for the cap and 20.5 for the body. These characteristics lead to a balance allowing the pen to fit perfectly with the hand cavity. The filler system used is a piston filler in which the barrel end has as its main aim the protection of the mechanism from accidental or clunky actions. The harmonic steel nib guarantees a good flow for a controlled flex making a line of 1 to 1.5 millimeters. To limit the necessary strength for the flexion of the nib, the pen presents two lateral cuts to accomplish a functional task without the overshadow of the aesthetic component. You can find the Marlen Aleph on our website: https://www.bertramsinkwell.com/Marlen for special pricing.
