  1. Hi I have a Parker flighter with a broken in sac in its metal casing. Can it be replaced with a Parker ink converter as the metal ink sac has a screw thread? Thanks
  2. So I gave a friend of mine a Sheaffer Lady 727 in an attempt to convert them. I also gave them a box of 5 cartridges (the ones with no holes, you have to put in the barrel then screw the section on to puncture),so that should last them a while but I am wondering if when they want to get more ink they will have to syringe fill/clean the old cartridges or they can get new ones for convenience.
  3. Hi everyone, What are your suggestions/ideas/tricks for adding an agitator to a Parker piston converter? From what I can't tell, they can't be taken apart without breaking them although I might be wrong about that. Have you found anything that works well and doesn't come out too easily? Thank you all very much in advance! 3nding

    Lady Sheaffer 642

Hello everyone, I hope I'm doing this right. To get straight to the point, I have a Lady Sheaffer 642 and I would like a converter for it. I used to have one and it used a squeeze converter but as we all know, these are no longer being made and extremely hard to find. It's even harder when you live in the UK and the only things you can find are in the USA. So I'm here to ask if anyone knows any other converter I could possible use for this pen? Or even better, if there is anywhere in the UK/EU where I can buy a Sheaffer squeeze converter for the older pens. Thank you
  6. Hi, I am new to the forum!! I have a couple of fine nib Pilot VP's I recently purchased in last few months.... I LOVE them! I have had a couple of problems though. The con-50 converts are hard to grip and pull out to add ink (I do not clean every time i fill). I do not clean weekly as maybe I should, but these nibs/ink systems in the VP's are super hard to clean! Last night, I just could not get the converter out, the tiny tip is hard to grip even though I have tiny fingers! When I grabbed hold and pulled straight out, the converter simply came apart! The screw-on end piece came off while the rest was still stuck in pen.... I had to get pilers to get it out! Why are these so hard to get out of the pen? Is this normal? I like to put ink in and refill 3-4 times (I usually fill up 2 times a week). Am I just not cleaning often enough? If so, is there an easy way to clean these pens, get the ink out and dry??? I love these pens, but have been having a tough time with them. I am only using Pilot ink in these. I wanted to use Noodlers but ink made the nib super scratchy... Pilot inks work best! Thanks, Mary

    Lamy Z24 Converter

I recently got myself a lamy aion, assuming it would come with a converter (it didn't) so I (stupidly) bought a converter (z24), not realising that the aion only takes a z26. Does anyone know if it is possible to simply file off the plastic bits on the z24, and make it work with my aion?
  8. Am looking for a converter (any brand that will work) for an older Cartier pen - the Must de Trinity Vermeil model. I prefer to use a converter, instead of using the cartridges (that usually refill with a small syringe). The local Cartier shop sent it to their main store, and they could not provide a new converter, or even recommend where to get one, so looking for another converter from Jet Pens or another source, once I can find out what converter will fit this model. Would much appreciate any recommendations. Thank you. About me - For day to day, I like my Pilot Vanishing Point, preference for the medium nib, but have another with fine point that just smoothed using about 6000 grid emory board. Had been given my first vanishing point (Namiki) fountain pen years back, and like worrying less about likelihood of leaking after inadvertent cap opening, as with other pens. May everyone have a much better 2018 than 2017!
  9. I noticed some ink on my Pilot metropolitan's converter when I opened it up yesterday, I cleaned the ink off and tried to fill it but got some ink on my hands from touching the converter and this is after cleaning the ink off so I tried to fill it with a piece of paper over the converter and found that the paper was inky after refilling the pen. I suspect the converter is leaking, it also looks really squashed and is not coming all the way back to its original state when squeezed. Since I am relatively new to fountain pens, is there any way to fix this and is this a normal problem? Also, where can I find another squeeze converter, I've heard the twist ones have a much smaller ink capacity.

    Issue With Lamy Z24 Converter

Hello everyone, I've recently bought the LAMY Safari fountain pen (fine nib) with the LAMY Z24 converter. I really enjoy and like the pen, however, I've noticed a problem. When my converter is full of ink, everything seems to be working fine (the ink flow is perfect), however, when it's not full the piston stops the ink flow because of the pressure. In other words, unless I slightly push the piston down, the ink won't flow. Am I supposed to push the piston everytime or is it not properly working?
  11. Hi everyone! I have a problem with one of my favorite pens. Every time I refill the converter with ink it writes way too wet (feathers and bleeds through a lot) for a few pages before becoming just write for the remainder of the ink in the converter (it's a piston "twist" converter). I know about pushing a few drops out of the converter after filling and I have experimented with it, but there's no amount of ink I can let out that seems to fix this problem for me. I have also tried to fix the problem by thoroughly cleaning the nib and feed letting them soak in dish soap and rinsing multiple times, but to no avail. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thank you all in advance!

    Noodler's Black Pen Safety

After weeks of searching for a bottle of Noodler's Black Ink, my local brick and mortar finally received a shipment and reserved a 3oz bottle for me. I was told that the while the ink performs very very well on cheap paper and has amazing water resistance, I was advised by the worker that I shouldn't use this ink in demonstrator pens like the TWSBI Diamond 580/Vac 700 or any clear pen at that, because "the ink will stain the inside of the pen." Is that statement true? If that's the case (or not the case), will this Noodler's Black be safe to use in converters such as the LAMY converter or Platinum converter?
  13. See what I did there with the topic title? (...might be time to cut back on the coffee...) Seriously though, anyone have advice on this? Im on a economical pen kick to figure out grip size/type before going all in on in on a high end pen. I tried my standard international converter, but its wobbly. If the pen gets jarred or if I drop it, Im pretty sure Ill make like a squid and ink everywhere. Are there other standard international converters? Am I missing something? Thanks!! N
  14. Some 5 years ago I bought two Jinhao pens with dragon motifs. I bought them mostly of curiosity, because of their garish looks I never really intended to use them much and I never did, though they both write very well. To the point. They came with converters, looking something like what you can see here: http://thumbs.picclick.com/00/s/MTAwMFg3NTA=/z/HTcAAOSw65FXq7oP/$/New-Jinhao-Grey-Gt-Flying-Dragon-Fountain-Pen-Converter-Fine-_57.jpg (found on Google) And here's my problem with these converters: they don't fit any other pens I have. I assumed they are standard international, as are my newer Jinhaos are recently bought (X450 and 500, which came with converters compatible with international standard, like eg. Waterman), but these two older ones won't take other any other converters, and the converters wont fit in any other pen, even other Jinhaos. I thought maybe it's a Parker standard, but no, they don't fit Parker pens. So, does anyone know what's the deal with these converters? Did Jinhao change their standard over recent years? Do they use different standard in different models? Or perhaps the pens and converters are fakes?
  15. Hi FPN'ers, I wondered if any of you may know if a converter exists that will work with a Burberrys fountain pen? The pen is approximately 20 years old and came with 2 Pentel FK15N ink cartridges but no converter. I know I can refill the cartridges with a needle but was hoping for a converter that works. Any help from someone that has already gone through this would be appreciated. Thank you, -Rob
  16. Hi Everyone, A friend of mine asked me to try to get a couple of her pens working. She had let ink dry in them (in one case _India Ink_, ouch) and it seems to just be a matter of lots of flushing. One has a converter, but for this one, she only had cartridges. I don't generally use cartridges, so I don't know if this is a standard size (and thus might have a corresponding converter) or not. I believe the pen is Chinese. The barrel band has 'Dryden' engraved, and the nib is marked 'GENIUS IRIDIUM.' The pen is black lacquer over metal (brass?) and farily slim. It has a clip cap. Is anyone familiar with this pen, and more importantly whether there is a converter that will fit it? I've been using an ear bulb to flush it so far, but would like to return the pen to her with a converter so she can use other inks than just the washed out black from the carts. http://www.gergyor.com/images/dr-r-slim-pen.png Thank you very much, greg
  17. I need a con-50 converter for my Pilot Penmanship, I'm seeing different prices on ebay, the cheapest being from China; anyone got these? It's not something I would usually worry about, but after three terrible converters for a Kaweco Sport, I might as well make sure... I know the con-50 has been replaced by the con-40, and I don't like squeeze converters like the con-20.
  18. I have just purchased a Sailor Pro Gear Slim and didn't realize that this listing does not appear to include the converter: https://www.writeherekitenow.co.uk/sailor-professional-gear-sky-slim-fountain-pen.html?gclid=CKbl0Z7i_tQCFU08Gwod42QBvA#productViewTabs1 I was a little miffed by this because I believe that a pen of this price should include the converter. This is not the fault of the retailer, of course. However, when I went searching for the converter, I have found some conflicting information. Some say this converter works for all Sailor Pens except the Chalana as stated here: https://www.writeherekitenow.co.uk/nibs-converters/sailor-standard-ink-converter/sailor-standard-fountain-pen-ink-converter.html But other sites say that it does not work on slim pens: https://www.cultpens.com/i/q/SR45779/sailor-standard-converter Can anyone please clarify for me which is correct? Has anyone used a standard converter with a Sailor pro gear slim and had issues? Thank you in advance!
  19. Hello, I just bought a converter after always using cartridges but I have some issues. When I just got ink in it, there wasn't comming any out, so I made the piston go in a bit further, but then ink splashed out, when I had found the right balance, it still skipped some pieces of a line and I saw that it was clogging up paper fiber. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks in advance
  20. Hello Everybody I have recently gotten a Pilot MR (The European Version) and Its a great pen, however, I cannot seem to be able to find a converter for it only accepts standard international converters. I have read that I could use a Pelikan Standard International Converter however I also read that it fits very loosely into the pen. Are there any converters that actually fit into this pen? Please help me and thanks for reading
  21. Does anyone else have the Converter Palladium N79324 for your new collection LV FP? I cannot get mine to fill all the way? I could get about 1/2 at most...maybe it's that way by design, but that seems awfully strange. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Good to be a part of the community! Thanks, Anthony O'Donnell
  22. While filling my CS with a screw on converter , the inks just runs out the nib till the converter is empty What could be the reason for this? Using another converter does not give the issue Thanks for reply

    Unidentifiable "lamy" Converter

Heya peeps So my mother recently uncovered her Lamy Safari from when she was much my age (so it's ~20 years old, I'm guessing), and decided to give it to me, knowing that I was into fountain pens. It's a little the worse for wear (or lack of, rather), as she didn't clean it out before it got shelved, containing a goodly quantity of blue sediment. I eventually got the pen apart and (mostly) cleaned up, but the converter is giving a little more resistance. http://i.imgur.com/tNBBwXZ.jpg It's marked as being a Lamy converter, but it's neither a Z24 nor a Z26. The twiddly plastic grip section is circular and ribbed, rather than the semi-rectangular flat of the standard Lamy converters, and the metal divider between the knob and the clear reservoir has etchings at the top of it, all rather different to the Z2* converters. I can't find any mention (or graphical evidence) of these existing anywhere. Anyway, I'm having some difficulty working out how to disassemble it. Regardless of whether it's an authentic, if outdated, Lamy converter, I'd be happy to continue using it if only I could get it apart to give it a good clean. Does anybody have any tips about its origins or how to get the little bugger apart? A few more images.
  25. The converter (twist type, piston) of this Aurora pen was a bit tight in its early days. Now, it feels that it has become tighter. When I twist the end to fill up ink, it feels so stiff that I am under a constant apprehension that something might break. (I can compare with my Parker Sonnet, so I know what it means to be tight.) Do you have any tips or suggestion for me? I clean the pen with plain water every six months or some such.
