  1. Hello: I recently purchase a platinum gold honest fountain pen. It is very nice looking and very old. Unfortunately, I can find no ink cartridge or converter to the nib section The current platinum cartridges or converter do not fit. Can anyone help? See picture of nib section.
  2. Today I was trying to swap converters between my 1911L EF and Zoom onto the King of Pen Lo and behold! It does not fit no matter how hard I push When I line up the openings of the converters, the KOP converter appears ever so slightly wider than the 1911L Has this happened to anyone before? I guess Sailor is trying have customers buy more KOPs!

    Alternative To The Pilot Con-70?

I have a con-70 that came with my Namiki Bamboo. It's nice that it has a larger capacity (0.7ml) than most converters. However I'm not a fan of the pump mechanism that blows some ink back into the bottle, and also can sometimes spray / create bubbles. It works fine, but can anyone suggest an alternative converter, that has a conventional screw mechanism that will fit the Bamboo? I beleive the CON-70 fits the Pilot Custom. I don't need the 0.7 ml capacity, given the little writing I do at work. Thanks!
  4. Hi there, Can anyone tell me if my Sheaffer Targa 1005 can be combined with a converter. If so, which will work/fit best? Thanks, Sigrid
  5. Check that last one ... just when I think converter is just converter ...
  6. I just bought my first Faber Castell, a very cheap but cheerful Grip, and it writes way too well for a pen of that price. It's wet, it's consistent, it's smooth, I love it. However, the Faber Castell converter I bought for it won't stick to the feed. No matter how firmly I push it in, it plops out. Am I missing something?
  7. Hi, I purchased a Waterman Fountain Pen Phileas Kultur Iridescent Blue Fountain Pen last September on eBay, and bought a waterman converter on Amazon. It has always been a bit of a tough starter to get the ink flowing, but recently, when I thought it just was being stubborn, I opened up the barrel to find it full of ink and the converter empty. I cleaned it out and reseated the converter, and it happened again. I do carry the pen around in a case with my sailor pen in my backpack, but the sailor is fine, and the waterman will not hold its ink, suddenly. (It doesn't get as much use as the Sailor does.) I'm wondering if it's the pen or the converter. Can I tell if it's a real Waterman? I suppose if it seems to be I should just try another converter? Is Amazon generally trustworthy on that sort of thing or are there inferior products out there too? I only used both sources as my usual pen shops didn't have the pen at the time, and lower Manhattan & NJ were in the midst of an apparent converter drought.... Anyone have similar experience with this particular pen? Thanks!
  8. Hi to all! I am writing on a new chapter about fountain pens. The particular topic is about the technical side of the ink reservoir. For most styles I have found all the information I need but not for the piston and bladder converter. The dimensions I would need are their volumes, the height/length to which they fill up and the mechanical length of the volume, which would be a smidgen longer. Sure, I could buy one each. However, so far, I have always received your help, otherwise, adding it all up, it would have been quite costly.

    Gentleman Converter

I bought few days ago NOS Waterman Gentleman FP....unfortunately the converter was not provided , I tried different international converters that I have but they did not fit .... Is there anyone who knows which type of converters does this pen accept and from where I can get one Thanks
  10. Hi, I found a new pretty pen to admire Parker Duofold Centennial MK1 (PDFCMK1) circa late 1980s owners: Which of the modern Parker converter definitely work for your old pen? My research shows various versions of Parker or Aurora depending on the nipple collar: Metal - current versionPlasticAurora metalAurora metal with plasticor does the modern cartridges work as well? I'm interested in knowing what actually fits to feed the pen Thank you
  11. I recently bought St Dupont Elysee that came with ink cartridge .... however I tried to use an international converter but it did not fit ....are there special converters for St Dupont FP ?
  12. Hello Pen People, If I've posted this in the "wrong" area of FPN, please accept my apology and grant me a modicum of immunity for this is my 1st ask for help! Just got an 'older' used Sailor Lecoule, and surprise, surprise, surprise it will not take standard ink cartridges and I cannot identify the model of the converter to buy. This Lecoule was one of a few Japanese pens (Ok, 8) that I bought. Not a large $ purchase, but I want to use this pen! The seller doesn't know, 5 different sellers of Sailor converters (eeebay) simply tell me that the converter they are selling works with Sailor pens, with no mention of the Lecoule. The reason I want to verify the converter model to buy, is that I read (somewhere in the internet ether) that the Lecoule requires a proprietary/unique cartridge/converter. Sailor converter part numbers and descriptions: 14-0502-000 Sailor Pen fountain pen ink inhaler converter Slim 14-0500-000 Sailor Refills Standard Fountain Pen Ink Converter Soooo, Since it seems Sailor pens require proprietary ink supplies, that any Sailor converter/cartridge would be compatible with the Lecoule? A review of the Lecoule: https://www.penaddict.com/blog/2014/9/17/sailor-lecoule-fountain-pen-review THank you in advance for your help! George Arrivistepen
  13. I found this beautiful photo... but, is it a true MB? . NOTE: May not upload because I am using a tablet to do this for the 1rst time.
  14. Are there any generally recognized international/universal converters that are better built, fit better, etc? A quick look online shows international converters by Baoer, Conklin, Cross (proprietary?), J Herbin, Jinhao, Kaweco, Pelikan, rotring, Tombow, and Visconti, and others. (And I've read that Waterman converters should work in other pens - though not necessarily vice versa). Are any of these best-of-breed converters to put to the top of the list?
  15. Look at the attached image: Lamy call the colour green. I call it lime, whatever...... There are three other nibs as well as the stock M: EF plus 1.1 & 1.5mm Italic nibs. There's even a Lamy converter. What other maker supplies their ink in Lamy cartridges? Has been regularly flushed, but never used with any problematical ink. No Iron-Gall & none that stain. As it says in the title... If you are not a resident of the UK you cannot be considered. You only need to pay postage for all the above listed stuff.
  16. I've recently thought about getting a con 70 converter and trying to adapt it for sailor pens. I even thought about getting someone print the converter at the connection end so that it is compatible with sailor, whilst marinating the con 70 mechanism at the top. This would solve many of the ink capacity issues with Sailor's own converters, especially with the more juicier nibs they offer. Anyone thought about this?
  17. Maybe this has already been hashed out, if so I could not find it via the search option. I have two different looking converter for C/F and C/C pens (see photo). The brass one looks older. And the stainless steel version has a slightly longer rubbber nipple. Does anyone know if there is a history to the two converters? Is one older? Were they made for different pens? Kevin

    Problem Seating Converter New Aion?

So as a Lamy diehard, one can imagine that when a shiny new product came out, I could not wait to get my hands on it. In this case, I refer to my purchase of a Lamy Aion from an eBay seller of repute with whom I have purchased other Lamy products in the past. Unfortunately, when the pen arrived today, I found myself with some cause for alarm. I had a spare converter ready to go (the Z27 black converter as listed on the Lamy website as compatible) and found that this pen simply refused to hold the converter in place. It would wiggle around and whenever I tried to fill it, the nib section would fall into the ink bottle leaving nothing but a converter in my hands. My reason for posting is to figure out if anyone else has had this problem with the Aion or if you think I may be the first person to come across a knock-off. Thanks in advance for any input you can provide!
  19. I hope you don't mind me copying and reposting the essence of a couple of posts from a Facebook group I belong to, but I wanted to reach a wider and more diverse audience with this. A few of us in the group have recently purchased Dante Del Vecchio's newest creation, the Pineider Le Grande Bellezza (which has also been reviewed in the Italy - Europe forum). As the reviewer there has indicated, OOTB it writes like a dream. The problems arise when one has only a small-ish amount of ink left in the cartridge converter - less than half, but not nearly empty. When one reaches that point, the pen begins with hard starts, skipping and even railroading. We are now trying wetter inks, Iroshizuku Shin-Kai in mine. One poster suggested that it is a converter problem, where the ink sticks to the sides of the converter instead of flowing down to the mouth and into the feed. I wanted to tap into the wisdom of this group for your thoughts. If this is a converter/ink flow problem, I would think that it would also happen to other people, with other pens. I love me some sheening (not shimmering!) inks - Organics Studio Nitrogen and Walden being two of my favorites - and would hate to have to give them up for this beautiful pen. Is there anything that can be added to the ink to insure that it will flow down to the mouth? Thank you for any insight that you may have. Best, Rindy_Ruth

    Cross Edge Fountain Pen

Cross Cartridge Converters fit only Century, ATX & Townsend ranges; they do not fit into the Edge - they are too long. Does anyone know of a converter which would fit the Edge?

    Standard Vs Deluxe Converter?

Very quick question: is the deluxe piston converter actually any better than the standard slide pump one? I have the latter in my IM Premium, my Sonnet and my 45 and it seems to be have well enough. I'd just be interested to hear if I'm missing out in any way.
  24. Hello everyone, I'd like to hear suggestions on which converters to use with Pelikan Pelikano Up fountain pen. I've read that Pelikan pens are compatible with standart international converters. Nevertheless, Schmidt converter, which I believe is a standart international one, does not seem to fit into it. However, I managed to fit a regular cartridge in it. I would like to be able to use the pen with a converter. Any comment, suggestion or correction will be appreciated. Thanks in advance
