    Happy To Be Here

Glad I found you and your members! We have acquired a collection of pens from Schaeffers to Montblancs that I know nothing about. I want to learn and to identify the pens we have. I have pictures but I need to learn how to down size them. In the meantime here is part of the collection. What is not listed here are some select pens I can't identify but will photograph this week. Happy to be here! 2 - Colibri fountain pens 4 - Montblanc 3 - Not Sure 5 - Parker 1 - Pierre Cardin 5 - Schaeffer (including 1 pen and pencil set) and 11 - Waterman Pens Hope to post pictures soon!
  3. Hi guys, Lord Z here with a pen I found on a park bench. (FOUND ANSWER TO FIRST PARAGRAPH) The pen has "Colibri" stamped around the base of the cap, just like it should. It resembles very old Colibri models, and uses an oil ink, in a discontinued tube. I cannot find a fit, however, so if you can figure out what it is, that would be great. This pen is a Colibri Le Grande in burgundy. It has a little bit of ink dried onto the cap, as well as scuff marks. I need to figure out if there is a way to deal with this, and how to get more ink. As recap (No pun intended), I need to figure out what model this pen is and anything else you can find on it, like price point, and how to clean it. One more question: is it sin to replace a ballpoint cartridge with a compatible rollerball? Thanks. Thanks, Lord Z
  4. Earlier this year, there was a seller on eBay who had a listing for a Caran D'Ache fountain pen. However, the listing was truly for a Colibri fountain pen with a steel nib which was put into a Caran D'Ache box. I contacted the seller about the pen to inform him of the problem and he replied with a kind thank you for the information. Yet, he continued the listing. Fortunately, no one purchased the pen. Then, a few weeks later, the same listing was posted again. I contacted the seller again and, this time, he tried to claim that Caran D'Ache made the pen. So, I found the pen on the Colibri site and sent him the information about his pen as well as introduced the seller to the difference between a Caran D'Ache pen and a Colibri pen. Again, he kindly thanked me and continued the listing. Fortunately, once again, no one purchased the pen. The seller, yet AGAIN, listed the pen in the same manner a few weeks later. Since the original listing had irked me so much, I had been watching for the second and, then, third listing of this pen. We had yet another round of "this is not a Caran D'Ache pen" with the same thank you and continued listing of the pen. Sooooooooo, since the seller had reposted and continued this fraudulent listing, now, three times, I reported the listing as, this third time, there were folks, other than me, watching the listing. The listing was removed. Unfortunately, with final exams and grading demanding my attention, I was not able to check eBay to determine if the pen was listed to trap unsuspecting buyers of holiday gifts. My habit has always been to contact sellers whose listings contain errors/problems. This has always been an enjoyable experience which has resulted in several eBay friends. However, last fall when the above described pen was posted on eBay, providing correction and appropriate information did not seem to work, prompting me to report the listing to the powers-that-be of eBay. How do you deal with incorrect/problematic auction listings?
  5. I have three pens I am trying to identify. The have identical clips so I think they may be the same brand, perhaps Colibri. Two of them have the same unusual (smaller diameter) end with threads where the cap screws on while the pen is in use. One is a very dark grayish purple with black mottling (looks like marble). The other looks like it is a very dark wood, almost but not quite black. The third has a traditional tapered end body (with a colored ring)but the cap is a very usual -- four sections separated by silver rings. The body of the pen is silver but the top is various shades of olive green, very dark brown or black, and white. I am attaching photos of all three -- would be grateful for any help...
