  1. Hi all, This is my father's MB pen. He's has it for over 20 years and it was a gift. A few weeks ago, the lower barrel broke in two; I am looking for repair parts but since I am unsure about the pen model, I can't risk buying one that doesn't fit (they are a bit expensive!). I took a few pix in hopes you can help me identify the model. I am almost positive it is a Meisterstück Gold-Coated Classique, but I need to be sure. Thank you so much in advance!
  2. Having a mild interest in adding another Classique to my S T Dupont pens, I came across an advertiser in the land of Oz, offering a Classique and a Montparnasse, as well as a whole bunch of other much more expensive pens. The advertiser has a good seller rating and many followers. He offers a 30-day money back guarantee, and said that all goods were owned by him, collected over many years. However (and leaving aside all matters of price), my caution came from the fact that the "Montparnasse" is quite obviously not. Neither pen comes with box or papers, yet of the "Montparnasse" (it looks to me like a Classique) he said it had been dipped only, never used. This seemed odd. If you buy a pen and dip it only, it seems less likely to me that you would also discard or lose the box and papers. I wrote and asked about this. While I was at it, I asked whether my Waterman converter would fit or whether I would need an international converter *. This was the reply, which I think it reasonable to publish here: "I have no idea if the converter will fit or not. It takes common cartridges so writing with it is no problem. I used to travel a lot when I was working overseas. Every time I was near a duty free e.g. Hong Kong, Schipol in Amsterdam etc I tended to pick up a pen as I did collect them. In a hand luggage that would have been the first thing to throw away the box. I never thought I would sell my pens so they have been in a display case for years. Now I am old and have no use for them. I know they are genuine because they were mostly from authorised Airport Duty Free shops around the world. Hope this clears." I do not intend to buy from this seller. I have better options, assuming I do anything at all. However, I am interested in considered views. Reputation and story on one hand, obvious error and the explanation on the other. * I am quite aware that Duponts up to the Montparnasse take neither of these converters. edit:typo

    My Opinion Of Midsize Tribute

I really wish that Montblanc would have come out with a black resin midsize tribute pen. I am scratching my head as to why they only made a white lacquer one. I also like the geometric midsize pen they released, but it's a bit flashy and would have snatched one up in a heart beat if it had been sterling silver instead. I really like the midsize because for me the legrand can be a bit weighty at times for lengthy writing and the classique just doesn't cut it for me. It's just too small, but that is just my opinion. I did ask the montblanc sales manager if they would be releasing more in the midsize and she was pretty confident they would for the solitaire lineup, but who knows. So I will just stick with my legrand for now and wait and see. I might see if I can find a used geometric somewhere because the price point is a bit much for my taste since I am not totally enthralled by the color of the pen. I can honestly say that Montblanc will miss a huge marketing opportunity if they don't bring out more midsize pens because I think there are many people like myself who fall in between the legrand and the classique as far as taste and preference is concerned. How does everyone else feel? David

    Montblanc Classique Clip Engraving

Hi there everybody. I really hate to create a whole new topic just for this question but I am on an expedited quest to get a Montblanc pencil ASAP as school is starting in less than one week. I found a great deal on an old Bordeaux model but I noticed a faint engraving on the bottom of the clip that appears to say "frontier" maybe...? I thought I've seen this before so I'm wondering if it is a different brand's clip or some sort of personalized clip engraving someone had done...? The pencil is listed as "new in box." Thank you so very much for any help!!

90 Years. 149, Classique, Or Legrand?

I am planning to buy a Montblanc Meisterstuck 90 Years fountain pen. Should I buy 149, Classique, or LeGrand? Thanks in advance, William S. Park
  6. Hi everyone ! Have you ever held the perfect pen, I mean the pen that is perfect for you, that suits all your needs. The first time you wrote with it, had something different that you cannot really explain perfectly. Well that is the case of the Montblanc Classic. It is pretty similar to the 221 and the Genreration, fitted with a medium 14 k semi-flexible nib. Here is my review, the more objective way possible. The look : Very classic, vintage look to it. Does not look like the modern Montblanc's and it is a good thing ! very original for a montblanc but if you step away from theses brand standards you see a beautiful pen, very classy. The nib section of the pen is absolutely amazing. I often get great comments about it ! "What montblanc is this" "I've never seen this before ? what is the model name ?" The nib : It is a VERY smooth nib ! very enjoyable. It is a 14k semi-flexible nib... When I bought it, the selle told me that the nib was flexible... well I can't say that the nib is "flexible"... Is is way more " semi-flexible" than flexible. Thus, It has a great feeling to it, pretty sprigny, the perfect everyday writer. Weight and balance : It is a pretty lightweight pen (about 16g), made of a plastic like material. However, it is perfectly balanced and does not feel cheap. It is very pleasant to hold and you can write for a long long time without being uncomfortable. Personally, I like heavier pens... but the classic is so well balanced and comfortable that it is not an issue at all. Feed : You have to love wet pens because it is flowing generously. It is incredible..... I mean it never stops or dries out : you could write at max speed for 5 hours and if there is ink in the converter, it will never stop or skip, it will be as wet as in the first minute. Conclusion : It is my favorite pen, I use it everyday and I like absolutely everything about this pen. The only thing that could be better is the weight and construction, since the pen is very light. Grab one if you can ! And once again, I don't like giving notes to the pens I review : writing is personal, so I let you make an idea with the information I give ! *** English is not my first language so please understand if I made some mistakes in the reveiw, I hope it is helpful and interesting and if you have any comments, I will be more than happy to read them
