    Corroded Nib

Hello everyone, I bought this cross Century II at the flea market and although it writes nicely when disassembling it for cleaning I noticed it had a lot of dried ink and the nib seems to have been corroded on several spots and some of the gold (paint/plating?) Had transfered to the feed. It came with an empty cross cartridge of bb. Is this just product of leaving dried ink on the nib for a long time or are there inks known to do this?

Nos Century Ii 10K F Gold Nib

Found a Century II 10K Rolled Gold in a stationary. Buried deep in an old closet gathering dust. After a little haggling (a way of life here) I ended up paying RSS 4000 which at the current rate of exchange is under $35. The nib is fine, a wet writer with a little flex to it, but being F it is a bit scratchier than my fave smooth Bs and broader Ms. Nothing wrong with the nib though. The converter is blue. Never seen one like that before

    Date My Pen?

Hi again. I just acquired a threesome of Cross instruments, that were listed a "Windsor" Medalists. However, FP was made in Ireland, so I could not pass up, being 25% of me from the Old Sod, y'know. The price was right. 2 questions: 1. I believe the FP to be a Century II medalist. It is engraved 2169 A1167 near the threads. Is there a resource for date codes? Please advise, would like to know when made. Also, am I on right track with ID? I've also had my own Matte Black Irish Century II for years. 2. Was the threesome shown ever actually sold as a set? I have no box, no papers, and no idea if they are "related" except by appearance. Thanks!
  4. Hello FPN, I'm back after a long hiatus. Yesterday I made a trip to the cross company store where they had some NOS Century II's. I quickly looked and saw that one had a "B" on the nib. But upon getting it home and inspecting it closely, it was actually a "BB". I had never seen a Cross BB nib before. Anyway, check out the photos. The bottom nib in both photos is the BB and the top is my Cross Signature "B" nib for comparison.

    Polishing A Century Ii

Hello, I have a friend who has been using a Cross Century II for about 9 years. There's a bunch of micro-scratchnig all along the pen from years of use and bouncing around in a pencil case. What is a good material(s) to use for polishing out most of those tiny scratches? I'd use regular metal polish, but I'm concerned about it taking the finish off. It's the all chrome Century II. Thanks
