  1. Thought I would share this...was in the market for a pen case...particularly, one for travel and I found this lovely cloth roll on ebay. They are made in Japan, cost $14 dollars with shipping, and are very good looking. You can purchase them in several different designs...all with a unique traditional Japanese pattern. I really love it. They also sell a nylon case that can be folded in a clever way to have the pens standing up in the holder. Description is as follows: Japan SAKI ROLL PEN CASE Made in Japan Pattern name :Asanoha Main color:Purple Internal Color:Black Size : 7×7 inches *Long brush pen does not enter. Number of Compartments:3 Pen Capacity:9 Material : Cotton Here is the web site: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Cases-/165651/m.html?item=261459820658&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_ssn=funa273
  2. Hello, I am looking for a case to store a few pens _and other items_ when I'm out and about. Specifically, I want to be able to put 2-3 fountain pens into a case (perhaps as many as four), together with a ballpoint and pencil, plus maybe a few cartridges or a travelling inkwell, a highlighter or two and/or a whiteboard marker. It needs to have straps to hold the pens securely, as I'll be wanting to stash in my backpack or shoulder-bag. And of course it needs to be robust enough to protect my FPs. I guess you could call it more of a stationery case than a pen case. My current thinking is that a book format may be best. In deciding what to get, I'm 95% interested in functionality and 5% interested in looks. I am also interested in price, but that's a different scale. Crucially, it has to be available for purchase from within the European Union, or be cheap enough that the entire package (including shipping) won't trigger the interests of the customs authorities; currently about US$22 (I don't mind paying customs/taxes, but the time and hassle for the additional bureaucratic procedure, plus 'service' charges are unacceptable). It seems like the "Lihit Lab Teffa Pen Case" might fit the bill, and I can buy it from Amazon for under the customs-trigger price. But I like the idea of buying from smaller vendors, so I've been looking around. There are plenty of nearly-acceptable pencil cases for school use available, but nearly is not good enough: they are typically made for Bics and pencils and the straps are far too small to hold a pen the size of (say) a Noodler's Ahab. So here's my question: do you have any better ideas than ordering the Lahit Lab case from Amazon? Thanks! (I do have options for FP-only carry, such as my Pelikan 3-pen case - a birthday present a couple of years ago - but I'm really looking for something useful as a hybrid here.)

    Ferocase 56 Pen Display Case

So I've been on the hunt for a few years for a nice pen display case that matched my room's black wood furniture. Embarrassed to say I first filled up a 24 pen, then a 36 pen rosewood display case from Penn State Industries. Loved 'em but the brown wood and gold knobs clashed with my furniture. Finally got a beautiful, compact black display case from Ferocase on Ebay. I was nervous at first because of dneal's earlier review. (https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/283326-ferocase-pen-chest/) The display case came in this week and it is awesome! It has a black finish and chrome knobs that match my furniture beautifully. Only drawback is the case capacity is 56 pens! Dangerous LOL! I guess I can grow into it. I highly recommend the black color. It did not have the wood veneer, paint or drawer divider alignment issues that dneal experienced.
  4. Can anyone make a recommendation for an inexpensive case to transport multiple pens (4-12 or so, flexible about this)? I'm thinking some kind of hard-shell material would be best, as I will be throwing (gently placing) the case into my book bag as I move around school, in and out of the car, etc. I'm doing a project with my students this semester to try to improve their atrocious handwriting (not entirely their fault; many of them come from Arabic or Chinese alphabets) and add some novelty to their classes.
  5. I decided to take some pictures while I was making a simple pen box for my father's birthday. I was so happy when I found a Parker 45 (that was in great aesthetic and functional condition) for my father's 45th birthday. But there was no box so I needed to make one myself. If you want to give away fountain pens without a box, maybe this simple tutorial can help you. I managed to finish this box under one hour and I spent nothing, every material and tool that I used was found at home. 1. Materials needed: - coloured cardboard - some kind of foam (polystyrene, thick cardboard, etc) - piece of old paper (for the greeting card) - any kind of textile - a few pins - short leather strip (or any other material that you think will work) 2. Tools needed: 3. Making the cutting plans for the box (dimensions in centimetres): 4. The bottom part cut and prepared for folding: 5. The bottom part folded and prepared for glueing: 6. Top part cut and prepared for folding: 7. Top part folded and prepared for glueing: 8. Cut the foam to the interior dimensions of the bottom part: 9. Cut the groves in the middle of the foam with the sharp blade, two cuttings at an angle of 45 degrees: 10. Take the piece of textile and cut it to the dimensions so it covers the foam. After it is positioned fix it to the foam using some pins. Install the leather strip in the same way: 11. Take the greeting card, write whatever you want in it and glue it in the inside of the top cardboard piece: (the inscription 'Boldog születésnapot' means Happy birthday in hungarian) 12. Put the top part on the bottom part and you're finished : I know it is nothing special or fancy, but it is simple, cheap and fast to make if you need a basic gift box. Hope I was helpful for somebody. Have a nice day!

    Pen Case

So I've been looking for a pen case. I am considering the Nomadic PE-08. I want a pen case that can keep my fountain pens separate and I can throw in a few pencils, colored pencils, and markers somewhere. I also want a place to put my refills and erasers and such, and I want a good-looking pen case (preferably not leather). The main reason why I don't already have the Nomadic PE-08 is because it just doesn't look that good. Do any of you have any suggestions?
  8. Howdy Pilgrims, So I've been searching for an EDC case/pouch - ah that old gem BUT My system involves carrying something like my Visconti HS Bronze (sometimes something else, but not often) and a Rotring 600 mechanical pencil. My issue is, that any pouch I've found falls short in either one of two criteria: - quick access - securely housing both a fat fountain pen and a thin mechanical pencil (without rubbing) My current system is this (oh yeah, livin' the dream)... The zipper means slow access and the bit of cardboard falls out all the time, but at least keeps my two pals from bashing each other up :/ And yes...that's a bit of tubing from a breast pump machine that came home from the hospital with our baby...it stops the point of the pencil being crushed in the zipper... Can anyone say dodgy? Can anyone offer a suggestion for my needs?
  9. I've been looking for a decent pen case for a little while and I've narrowed down my choices to two similar cases. They are both hard ish leather, hold three pens, are similarly sized, and the price is similar as well. I'm just curious to know if anyone out there would recommend one over the other, since I don't know which of the two to pick. Pelikan or Aston? There is also this Aston 4 pen case, but the leather is softer and it doesn't look quite as protective or sturdy. Any advice? Sorry if this has been asked [a million times] before.
  10. My custom Chan's Design 3-pen case in blue wool-silk Nishijin-ori arrived today, one week after I placed the order. Teaser: http://i.imgur.com/jq37ixw.jpg
  11. I found this case at a price I can commit. Has anyone had experience with it? I have a 12 pen case but need a two or three pen case to carry them out in my purse. Here it is: $18.00
  12. I was browsing ebay for a nice, bit more elegant pen case and I've came across these Pilot Namiki Pensembles: This 3pen zipper case caught my eyes first: http://kepfeltoltes.hu/140330/__571_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg http://kepfeltoltes.hu/140330/__572_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg http://www.ebay.com/itm/PILOT-Namiki-Pensemble-Round-fastener-pen-case-Black-PSPC01B-FS-Japan-/111312368363 But this pen wrap looks great too: http://kepfeltoltes.hu/140330/__12_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg http://kepfeltoltes.hu/140330/__122_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pilot-NAMIKI-pen-case-Pensemble-five-pens-leather-pen-wrap-Black-New-/151261951956?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2337ea37d4 Both available in brown-beige as well. So, does anyone have any experience with these?

Jif Case For Waterman Ink Bottle

Hello pen lovers, I have just found this at my late grandfather's, along with a tarnished and damaged C/F: http://www.pixenli.com/images/mini/1393/1393104022078266000.jpgLarger pic http://www.pixenli.com/images/mini/1393/1393104035029458400.jpgLarger pic http://www.pixenli.com/images/mini/1393/1393104088073127800.jpgLarger pic It appears to be an ink bottle case. It's marked "Jif" in red on the cap of the case, and there is a spring in the bottom. I searched a little on Google and here, but haven't found much. What can you tell me about such a case ? I also found the two steel four-coloured ballpoint pens I thought Bic was the first manufacturer ever. Any informations about them? Thanks you!
  14. Okay, technically it's just $44.04. But I bet it would climb with the postage, particularly if you're not in Japan. It's made by Pilot in collab with another brand, presumably of leather goods since it's all leather (anyone knowledgeable about Japanese brands care to weigh in?) As far as I can tell it closes with a magnetic flap, and those look like Pilot cartridges in the piccy, so Int'l standard might be a poor fit. Bah! Then it won't work for me, tsk tsk. (yep, it's that, and NOT the fact that my regular pen budget tops out at $30 each lol)
  15. I'm not sure if anyone has posted something like this before but I was recently given an e-cig case by someone who thought I'd find a use for it...I did The case is fairly hard on the outside and closes with a zip, on the inside there are a couple of elastic loops and a little net basket. The loops are a perfect size for 2 pens which means you can carry at least 4 pens or 6 at a squeeze. The cases can be picked up on ebay pretty cheaply and offer more than enough protection for carrying pens about, the case I have can comfortably hold a Lamy Safari AL with about 1/2 inch room above. Outside: Inside: I think with some customisation these cases could be cheap but sturdy options for carrying pens.
  16. I've personally been on a three month long hunt to find that "Perfect Case" in which to carry my five favourite pens, the one's I use in rotation on a daily basis. I've purchased many cases over the years and for one reason or another, they've all failed to hit the spot for one reason or another. That was until this week, when I received my Kimono Pen Wrap, for some reason this one case seems right for me at the moment in time. Now I have to confess to a secret - I have a slight touch of OCD when it comes to cases - I know that at some-point in the near future I'll want another & the search will resume. Now I'm sure I'm at alone on this? Here's my collection of cases used daily, what are you using & why? Far left: Maxpedition EDC Pocket Organiser Mini - It's the total Armageddon day solution. Right top: Campo Marzio PU leather three pen case that cost £2.99 Right Middle: Kimono Fountain Wrap from Inthreadible on Etsy (my current personal Favourite. Right Bottom: Atelier De La Foret Pocket Pen Case, regret buying as the two pen case is better value.
  17. Finally after three months of looking for 'my perfect case' I think I've found it in the form of the Kimono Pen Wrap. It holds four pens inside and two on the outside and made by a UK based seller called Inthreadible on Etsy. I've plenty of cases, leather, ballistic nylon etc etc - But not one comes even close to the lovely tactile feel, beautiful quality & care taken in making this wrap. I really can't find a single thing about the wrap I don't like. In my mind it's perfection and large enough to carry all my favourite pens, least the ones I like to keep inked and ready for use on a daily basis. The four internal pockets swallow most pens with ease, however my largest pen is my Edison Herald. My herald fits perfectly it's neither to tight nor to loose, however you'd struggle to fit a wider pen into the four internal pockets. Thankfully there are no restrictions to pen width on the outside pocket, as this is one large pocket capable of swallowing just about any pen. As you can see from the photographs, this outside pocket varies in length due to the sloping design. If you're looking for a wrap style case I can thoroughly recommend it, it's an extremely well made, lovely quality item & best of all only costs £15.24 GBP plus shipping. I received mine within 48 hours via recorded delivery for a few pounds extra. I comes with a care leaflet in which it's explained how to care for the wrap & a mention that if you damage it in anyway, you can return it for repair. Inthredible offer a wide range of colours & larger cases, well worth a look. https://www.etsy.com/shop/Inthreadible?ref=l2-shop-info-name I've no affiliation to Inthreadible other than I'm a happy customer. Cheers, Mark
  18. Hi All, I'm looking for information on vintage Pelikan pen boxes, specifically which box(es) is correct/original for which model from the 1930s to the 1960s. Photos would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance, Rob

    Pen Case

Hi, I'm really new here but we're getting near to back to school time so i have a quick question to ask as i just started with fountain pens this summer. I have always been a fan of high quality writing utensils (i've used Parker and Cross ballpoint pens and pencils since the 7th grade) but now i'm getting into fountain pens as well as i need to help out my handwriting and make a statement as a starting entrepreneur. I know there's the cartridge pens but i want to carry a piston pen to school and back sometimes so i could utilize the special colors and more classic style of the bottled ink. Do you know of anywhere i could purchase a backpack safe pen case that wont scratch chrome pens inside of it and can hold a bottle of ink in the same case and still be sturdy enough to stick in my backpack and get on a buss without getting home and realizing i have ink on my papers and pack (and the pen in the case)? I've looked everywhere online for a case the right size and shape for this but i just cant seem to find one. Thanks everyone.
  21. Hey FPN'ers, I just completed my new A6 journal covers yesterday and listed them on my etsy store. I have included a couple of photos so you can take a look a them. These covers are designed to hold three journals/cahiers. The open cover does not have a pen loop in it, but it is an option for the cases. I just found with this small case it is just easier to clip it over the spine on the closure. Let me know what you think. Cheers, Phil
  22. Finally finished the 20 pen case I was developing. My roommates moved out during the Canada Day long weekend and it killed my creative time, and my muscles so I didn't feel up to a whole lot. Really happy with how it turned out. The joys of creating is going with the fabrics that you have lots of at the time. Hence the weird Grey/Teal combo, but I am planning on some more normal colours in the future. Let me know what you like, and what you don't like. I am not 100% committed to the design yet. I do really like how comfy all of my pens look in their new home. Cheers, Phil
  23. Hey FPN'ers, I made this case last night. It is a A5 sized case that is capable of holding up to 3 different journals, I currently have two Rhodia and a slim Leuchtturm, by holding them in place with a strip of material that you adjust with a cord lock. I also used magnets to close the front so you dont' have to worry about elastics going or slowly pulling out of the material. I am really happy with how it turned out and I think I might start selling them on my Etsy. I would love to have everyone's feedback about what you think and if you would be interested in seeing it in a A6 or A4 size. Cheers, Phil
  24. Hey FPN'ers, I just made a post over on the G+ fountain page about making a case for carrying around four ink bottles to gage response, and one of the users made a really interesting suggestion. He said he wouldn't want anything the size of a actual glass bottle, but would want something more like the Goulet ink sample vials. I think his suggestion is awesome and would work with the design I already make for my pen cases. What I would like to know is how many ink vials would people want to be able to carry around with them? Also, if you would want a different type of marterial from the fleece/raw silk combo? I also think it would be worth while, if there are more than two ink vials, to include a strip of vynal type material above the ink vials so that users could write the ink name on a small label and place it there and easily remove/apply a new label when they change their regular inks. What do people think? Would anyone be interested in that? Cheers, Phil
