  1. Anyone refill emptly cartridges from botted ink with a blunt tip syringe? I thought it would be less expensive than buying cartidges, the convenience of cartridges, yet the variety of bottled ink. Any thoughts, advice, suggestions or warnings?
  2. Greetings fellow FPN'ers! It is just over a year (Sept 2012) since I posted a couple of pictures of my little one using a fountain pen for the first time. Back then it was a Jinhao 159 and due to the less than delicate touch of a child, has actually bedded in and writes really nice now! Since then, we have undertaken an exercise where every weekend, she is allowed to write in "Dad's Journal" and has her own page to herself to write about anything she wants. Tonight, being wet and windy and just not fit to take a dog outside in the bad weather, we decided to have a little indoors time and try a different pen, a simple Rotring Art pen with a 1.5 italic nib. We had a little practice with it to get used to the different feel that an italic nib has, but after ten minutes, she had it nailed. Out with the Journal and play-time again. In the spirit of the "reviews" pages: Pen: Rotring Art Pen 1.5 Italic. Ink: Rotring Art Pen Black Ink. Paper: Moleskine. Writers Age: 7. Fun Factor: 10/10 Had it not been for bedtime coming around so quickly, we would have actually had a go at doing an ink or pen review, although I might wait until her hand is a tad lighter before I allow her loose on my prize Pelikan M1000... I do however have a number of Lamy Safari's in the wings :-) I have now lost my Rotring....... Dave.
  3. A friend gave me a Hill fountain pen but I do not know what sort of cartridge to use in it. How do I find out about this? It has no other identifying marks on it. It is a slim dark green pen. I would love to know so I can use it.
  4. Hi everyone, I am brand new to the forum today! I have a beautiful compact sterling Lalex pen that's almost 20 years old. It used to take short international cartridges, but something has changed in their sizing and they no longer fit my pen. The problem is the diameter of the cartridges (not the length), so I would like to know if anyone can point me in the direction of very thin cartridges. Waterman cartridges used to fit but haven't for several years. Lalex seems to have disappeared as a company--their website is gone and the US Distributor phone number has been disconnected. I have called or visited every pen shop I could find in Los Angeles with no luck. The cartridges need to be less than 5mm at their widest point. I am willing to explore any and all options (cartridges or otherwise) to get ink flowing through my pen again! Many thanks!
  5. Hi everyone, I'm new here and found your site while trying to figure out a pen I own. I was given it as a gift several years ago and recently came across it again in a box I unpacked. It's a black pen with silver and written on the cap is "Tsunami" with a little wave symbol on the clip. (See photo). I've searched all over the internet for information, but have found zip. I'd really like to use this pen, but don't have a cartridge for it and have no idea what type it would use. If anyone can give me any information or help, I'd be very grateful!

    Favourite Cartridges?

Hello all, So I just started a new job (yay!), and I'm trying to figure out the best pen/ink setup to use at work. I've been using my Lamy Safari with a converter filled with Diamine Bilberry. However, the way my desk/office is set up, I don't really have the space or desire to be storing ink bottles and refilling pens (I currently have a little sample vial in my desk drawer, but really, if I could avoid ending up with colourful hands whenever I run out of ink, that'd be helpful). I decided cartridges would be a better option, but...I'm not terribly fond of Lamy inks (aside from the bottle of Lamy Green that I keep around to fill a Preppy eyedropper marker), as they strike me as being kind of washed-out. So, to make a long story longer, I just ordered a Nemosine Singularity from xfountainpens with a .6mm nib and a box of Diamine Blue-Black carts from JetPens (no affiliation with either company). I'm wondering, though, what other folks love/hate in the cartridge world. tldr: I have and use bottled ink at home, but want to use cartridges in my office. A .6mm nib Nemosine Singularity and Diamine Blue-Black carts are coming my way. What other cartridged inks do folks recommend?
