    Waterman Carene?

I am thinking of buying a next-level fountain pen (No flex. For now). I have been going through a lot of fountain pen models, searching for reviews etc but I can not decide. What I am looking for is a pen that is comfortable to hold in order to write for pages and writes smoothly. I have seen some Carene and I have to say that they are very positive. Any other recommendations of similar price range? Any experiences on the Carene? I found it cheaply on Zafeiriou for 200 eu. Better price suggestions are welcome.
  2. So here is my second pen review, again hand written. Summary: Pros - Impressive box, light weight, well engineered design and smooth. Cons - Pen does not look or feel high end, and it may not initially be apparent why the pen costs as much as it does, can be too wet leading to bleed through. http://www.overclockers.com.au/pix/image.php?id=rk77k&f=1 Click to view full size! http://www.overclockers.com.au/pix/image.php?id=yypgp&f=1 Click to view full size! http://www.overclockers.com.au/pix/image.php?id=mjg68&f=1 Click to view full size! http://www.overclockers.com.au/pix/ima
  3. Welcome to my first fountain pen review. This is of a waterman carene in contemporary blue and gunmetal with an XF nib. This pen was purchased (and tuned) from nibs.com. For now I will not post any pictures (as I can't be fussed to pull out the SLR) but pictures can be found from the offical website: http://www.waterman.com/en/carene/212-contemporary-blue-and-gunmetal-fountain-pen-st-3501179045580.html I think it looks better in person though! Forgive my hand writing, this is a hand written review. I did it quite hastily, the scanner didn't quite capture the ink's colour properly, it's a bit

    1 X Duofold Centennial Or 2 X Carène ?

I have an oppurtunity to either go for a Duofold Centennial or for the same price, 2 waterman Carène s. Looks wise, both pens are pleasing to my eye (Carène IMV is stunning ). I have not handled the Centennial or seen one in person. I do have a waterman Carène and a Parker Premier(good styling, smooth nib, balance and weight) and both are out for a nib exchange (OB, B respectively). History, tradition, lineage or vintage for that matter don't generally sway me, unless it was THE pen used by Einstein or Marie Curie. What puts a smile on my face is a well engineered, good looking elegant pen t
  5. Hello! Having watched sbrebrown's video "Why aren't you doing reviews?" I decided that I would try my hand at doing YouTube reviews of fountain pens! Here is my review of the Waterman Carène Black Sea Fountain Pen GT Medium Nib - if anyone has any suggestions/tips/tricks to help me improve my videos it would be really appreciated. A review of the Waterman Carène Black Sea Fountain Pen GT Medium Nib All the best, TheTechFish

    Waterman Carene Review

The full review with pictures can be found on my new blog https://pentheon.wordpress.com/. I would be eternally grateful if people could provide me with feedback and constructive criticism and follow my blog. I will be posting weekly reviews of pens, inks and papers, next week is a review of Diamine Presidential Blue. Many thanks. Introduction The Waterman Carene was my first proper fountain pen. I’d had Lamy Safaris in the past but this was the first one with a gold nib, first one I a got a converter for and the first one that was over £20! This pen not only i
  7. Evening all, I am getting two new bottles of ink (Diamine Apple Glory and the 150th Diamine Anniversary Blue Velvet) for Christmas so I only thought it right to get one new pen to put my favourite of the two in! (got the Rohrer and Klingner glass dip pen for the other ink!) There are four (relatively inexpensive) pens I am looking at to take up the next berth in my collection. The Pilot Vanishing Point in the Blue Carbonesque finish, the Lamy 2000 and a Waterman Carene in either the amber finish or the Blue Obsession colour. To give you an idea of my preferences I currently have a bla
  8. Hi FPNers! I need your help. The trim and end of the body opposite to the cap of my Waterman Carene FP became tainted with small inkblots. I tried to clean them with a humid smooth cloth, but did not work. Do you know how to clean them causing no harm to beautiful finish of the pen? I look forward to reading from you. Marcelo

    Nipples

For those who enjoy such things, here is a shot showing the engagement of the converter to the Carenes feed nipple.
  10. The spare converter of my Waterman Carene fell on the floor and broke - I noticed it was made out of glass. I ordered a new one from a reputed online seller in Brazil, but it is made out of plastic. Can you tell me if it is original? Regards, Marcelo
  11. Almost 5 months ago I "designed" and had this pen case tailor-made for me: http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii33/mmmcosta/Watches/PenCase_zps27acfdc3.jpg Here's the story: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/245327-tailor-made-pen-case/ Earlier today the cartridge went empty - in the small side pocket, a spare was available for replacement. Best! Marcelo

    Carene Marine Amber Color

I have been looking at the Carene Marine Amber. And I would have to get it online. However, having seen the images of the pen, its not exactly clear whether the appearance of the marine amber is of "reddish" or of "brownish" Can anyone having that FP comment on its appearance? Secondly, I find two terms being ued - "marine amber" and "amber shimmer" - are they different colors / shades of Carene? thanks

    Which Color Carene Is This?

Looking at two ads on eBay for a Carene, one described as "velvet purple" and the other one as "velvet blue", the purple one looks more like blue to me and the blue one more like grey or even black. I know colors can look completely different in a different light and it can be hard to distinguish from photos, but which colors do you think they are?
  14. I wanted a single pen case to carry my fountain pens: Waterman Carène, Parker Premier and Caran d'Ache Leman. I found some interesting options, but had to import them. There was also another issue: I wanted a case that could also carry a spare cartridge. What I did was, based on this Lamy design, http://www.pensandleather.com/images/products/detail/lamy_dialog_pen_case_open.jpg asking for a tailor-made one at a good shoe shop at my hometown - these people know how to work with leather. They even put a kind of shammy inside, to keep the integrity of lacquer and external paiting. But what
