  1. I purchased a 'reprint' of The Palmer Method Of Business Writing, since I now know that is the format of penmanship I would like to practice rather than Spencerian. While Spencerian is beautiful, I'm a long way off being able to use a pointed pen properly, can barely hold a straight line at this point! The monoline Palmer method seems to fit my goals better. In any case, the book arrived today, I excitedly opened the package & thumbed the book only to be greeted with this...utter abhorrent insult to the eyes...and the wallet! Be warned, you are better off finding the PDF version onli
  2. Hi folks, I use FP at work, and, to this date, I still have not found any dye-based ink that could emulate all the desirable properties of IG. My own field is medicine, but I think the following requirements apply for virtually any businesses : 1. No feathering on the cheapest paper available. 2. No bleedthrough on the cheapest paper available. 3. Fast drying. 4. Water resistant. (Waterproof is better, but rarely an absolute requirement). 5. Somewhat fade-proof. (Medical records -- as other business documents -- are usually stored for a period of ~ 20 year
  3. Good day FPN, This event literally just happened a few minutes ago and I wanted to recount the details. Before I go further, I will say at the very beginning that the issues occurred in transit after leaving Goulet, this is a review of their customer service in dealing with such an incident. I'm also not affiliated with Goulet Pens in any way other than a customer who spends way too much on fountain pen supplies, but that's all of us right? So I've been ordering from Goulet Pens for a pretty long time, since before the Noodler's Ahab came out, and I've made more than a couple of orders so
  4. Hi, Mini introduction first: After recently picking up (or rather buying) a couple of cheap fountain pens, I have had great use of these forums, and kind off rediscovered writing. It is an amazing feeling to actually write something by hand again. It has even given me the mental kick in the but to get writing on an idea for a paper I have had in the pipeline for a long time, although that is, for practical purposes, done electronically. To the question: I am looking for a dark green, professional looking ink. After reading in this subforum, I decided on the Diamine Sherwood Green - and I ab
  5. I'm new to fountain pen, and I was surprised that there wasn't more retractables in the low end price range. The posts in that thread helped me understand that the R&D for it is prohibitive. But it also made me realize that I'm on unfamiliar ground, so I'm going to ask about the lay of the land. There seems to be quite a few pen makers, but what's the market share between them look like?
