    B S B

I've been wanting to try BSB for some time now. I finally bought some and filled my Al-Star. It is all black, including the nib!! Pulled out some Clairefontaine Triomphe Stationery and started writing with a 1.5 mm stub on the Al-Star feed. WOW. Now I see what folks are so excited about with the BSB. It is such a wonderful shade of blue!! Staining is not a fear with the all-black of my Al-Star/nib combo. It truly is beautiful. Just get a black pen/nib set up & staining will not be a problem!!! BTW, is BSB normally scented? It seemed as I filled my syringe, to squirt into my T-10 cart that I smelled a pleasant aroma. Not knowing that much about inks that it, BSB, was of a smelly thrill !! Ideas?

    Unstaining A Noodler's Ahab

This summer I got an Ahab and promptly used it to try my sample of Bay State Blue. Yes, I knew of BSB's reputation. Today I flushed the last of the ink out, and to my complete lack of surprise I now have a blue-tinted Ahab demonstrator. This isn't a horrible thing, as I have LOTS of blue inks I can use in that pen, but on the other hand having it totally clear again would be very nice. So is there a good way to remove ink stains from an Ahab? If it was acrylic I would take my chances with a dilute bleach solution, but I don't know what that would do to whatever weird stuff this pen is made of.
  3. Has anyone tried using Noodler's BSB in their Pilot Metro? I filled mine a couple of days ago, and I swear the pen is now dragging. I've wiped off the tip of the nib with a lint-free paper towel and that helped somewhat, but now I'm wondering if this isn't a physical trait of BSB. Has anyone noticed whether their pens started to lose their smoothness when using BSB? This is my first Metro, so I'm not even sure how it's supposed to write, but I'm a big fan of Pilot so I didn't expect drag, especially since, in the first couple of days, I didn't have any issues with that. Do you use anything, like a hint of liquid soap or something, to help ink flow?
