  1. Hi all, just wanted to hear your views about the Arco supply / demand. I remember few years back when ASC launched their first pen with the arco material. There was a buzz in the community and in their marketing about how there are only a few rods remaining for the Arco material. Fast forward to 2021, I still see a lot of models made in Arco both from ASC brands and also from the likes of Leonardo. My personal view is that the price of any item is what people are willing to pay for it. But I write this post wondering how the overall messaging has been on the supply / availability of this material compared to the actual steady supply of Arco pens since Omas. That said I'm still on the lookout for an Oldwin Arco Verde (not ASC version)! cheers Sidd
  2. I have had this ASC Bologna Extra for about a year, and was always curious about how to disassemble it because one day I will have to re-sac it. Today, with a thought derived from another thread on FPN, I was feeling brave and did it. First of all, I would like to thank FPN member sannidh and Youtuber sbrebrown for their answer and video to help me with this disassembly. sannidh's original post is here (a different topic but indirectly related to this because of the same filling mechanism): https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/351582-a-review-of-the-wahl-eversharp-decoband-in-rosewood/page-1 sbrebrown's video relevant to disassembly of this model is: Please see minute 4:44. Please see below photos: You can unscrew the nib/feed unit out of the section. You can unscrew the section out of the barrel. Observations: 1. There was no shellac or other heat sensitive adhesive on plastic nib collar threads so unscrewing was rather easy, both the nib unit and the section. 2. The nipple size seems to be for size 22 sac (or one size bigger or smaller), but the sac seems thinner in diameter. I could be wrong but it looks at least in my case, the sac size might be chosen to accommodate the narrow diameter of the brass casing. Otherwise the pen had to be made even girthier, which may not be possible depending on the diameter of their celluloid rods available. Or it's just fitted off centre in this case that it appears to be a smaller sac for the nipple. But my guess is the former. I didn't re-sac the pen, as it's still relatively new. When I do, I will first have to see if the sac with the right nipple size fits the brass casing. If not, a smaller size sac will have to do, even though it might be a tighter than ideal fit on the nipple. 3. The section is rather thin (partially inner-lined with brass). Be careful not to over-turn the nib unit when you screw it back on, to avoid any chance of cracking the section. Hope this satisfies your curiosity as it did for mine, and might be helpful to you one day. Regards, como

  4. Hello all, I suspect that I might be flogging a dead horse on ASC's lack of response to any e-mailed queries, but so far - I have not received any response to my 2 e-mails as yet regarding a purchase on their e-shop. Thought I'd check here if purchases from members here were ever fulfilled or not fulfilled. Thought I'd check here before ringing up my bank to initiate a dispute. Thank you. best regards, MalcLee

  6. Those who have seen the most recent Pen World surely must have noticed the forthcoming Armando Simoni Club Brown Arco pen, which is supposed to be introduced at the DC show (if it occurs): http://i.imgur.com/OXEIWFo.jpg The pen is said to be made from remaining OMAS brown Arco celluloid stock. It shares many characteristics of the Wahl-Eversharp Decoband pen, including the pneumatic filling system and the flexible nib. This is not surprising, since both Syd Saperstein and Manu Caltagirone have been involved in the resurrection of Wahl-Eversharp and OMAS (now ASC). What I immediately noticed about all the photos of the new brown Arco pen is the abundant transverse banding in the celluloid, which I don't find very attractive. To my knowledge, this banding is not seen in any of the OMAS Arco pens. I would like to know how this came about, and what other Arco lovers think of it.
  7. I received an email from ASC the other day about progress on the Bologna Extra Arco Verde orders and they mentioned briefly something very interesting. They had stated that the celluloid rods used had been stocked as Arco Verde Speciale by Omas. It looks to me that the silver celluloid layers might be more defined in this batch of material vs the original pens. Maybe a few more layers of translucent silver it appears? Are there any opinions on this or additional information from the resident Omas experts? Seems like a nice Easter egg of Omas history that I would like to know more about if possible. Im EXTREMELY excited about this pen! Ive been trying to pick up an Arco Verde Paragon for years but prices have gone crazy so the ASC pen seems to be my last opportunity to get a pen of Arco Verde without selling my car! I was able to try an ASC Brown Arco with the same magic flex nib at Detlef Bittners shop and was amazed at how smooth it was. Really cant wait for this pen!!
  8. Hi everyone I'm still at the fairly early stages of learning to use FPN so if anythings out of place don't hesitate to warn me. With that warning out of the way, I have a question about a pen I got some time ago. It's called Armando Simoni Club Ogiva Green Saft Pavarotti LE(what a mouthful name ) and there's supposed to be 70 pens total out there. Mine is the 11th of the series and arrived with a bb omas nib. I later learned that all pens in this series was supposed to arrive with the magic flex nib available in other asc and modern wahl offerings. I enjoy the pens from the asc company until now as they are offering nice pens at reasonable prices. I would like to learn how is it that I got this pen with a non official nib when buying brand new.( not that I don't like it, the pen and nib is very nice and I really enjoy using it) For a side note, I bought this pen from Chatterley luxuries, and the purchase was handled wonderfully as always. Also, I'm wondering if asc will resurrect the omas brand or will they pursue a different path? Thanks for sparing the time, and comments are really appreciated. Here is a picture of the pen: And the front profile of the nib: And finally the side profile of the nib:
