I have been trying to take some pictures of my pens for a while now and finally have something decent to show.

From top to bottom we have:

Kin Botan-nuri Prototype (Peonies)

Raw Ebonite Takumi

Tame-Aka Bokashi-nuri.

I have two more Dani's coming so more pictures in the future.

I LOOOOOVE your Tame-Aka Bokashi-nuri. I kept fondling.. err holding ;-) that pen at the show. It really is a striking color combo.

I'm going to regret opening your thread. That finish will be my next pen!

Well; fair play! I now want a midori tamanuri Mikado. :headsmack:. I need to stop looking at these picture threads. :roflmho: .

When Kevin let that pattern see the light of day, I pounced on it. It's got the flexy extra fine nib. I use it or the raw ebonite daily at work.

Lovely pens. Thanks for sharing.

The majority of Dani's pens are lovely, but some strike me more than others. I am going to second mava's praise of the Tame-Aka Bokashi-nuri. For me that is what that thar Japanese lacquer is all about.

Ok, a bit of a tease!

I am finally getting a Mikado... in Sakura-kawa pattern. I had been looking at that pattern for a while but it was my second pen.....

The first is new, and may be the second most beautiful Danitrio or any other brand pen I have seen. All I can say now is that it incorporated a sunset and haiku.

It will be hard waiting for it but so worth it.

I wish I had been around when you launched your attack on Urushi. :roflmho: Which Nakaya's do you have? I was fondling...urr. checking them for size at the nibs.com table.

The Pen Show needs to add a drool bib to the envelope they give you when you check in!

Congratulations! The Sakura-kawa red bark pattern is simply unique and stunning. Did Kevin have the sunset with haiku pen on display? I noticed a few with haiku and even asked Kevin about them. If those are the pens you're referring to they are simply magnificent!!

You didn't want to see me with my Danitrio attack. Kevin's not kidding about calling security. I was stalking that booth! :P

Mava, you probably did see them. There were four different scenes. Kevin said he would take pictures and post them.

As for coming back, I did it several times also but Kevin knew I was done after the first time so no security.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
