Noodler's AirCorp

I like this ink, but it's a touch darker than I want overall. Still, it has very good physical properties and is excellent to write with.

Thanks for the review - I've been wondering about this one for a while.

I like the color. Am I correct that it is a tad greener than Noodlers Navy?

It is a whole lot blacker, as well as a little greener, than Noodler's Navy. I really like Aircorp.

To my eye that looks a lot like Private Reserve Ebony Blue. I think I'll pass on this one, but thanks nonetheless for the thorough review.

Has anybody done a waterproof test on this ink? I think it's one of Noodler's "near bulletproof" inks, but I'm interested to see how it holds up anyhow.

yep, the teal/blue part washes off pretty quickly, but leaves the black and very legible portion behind.

to me it looks quite similar to WM Blueblack.

has anyone been able to compare side by side?

Air Corps is my #1 blue black ink. It is denser than Waterman Blue Black, more saturated. Classy ink with great flow.

Check out this new flickr page for pen wraps

Thanks for the review, personally, I like the color and intend to try this ink in the near future. I'm a member of the U.S. Air Force so that alone made this one I wanted to try. At present, I don't have a blue black and would like to have this for use in the workplace.

It is very nice, just be aware that in a wet pen, it will show up more black than blue. But still, very nice.

It's a very nice ink, which would probably be best described on the black side of "green-black" rather than "blue-black". I like the ink, it flows wells and looks good, but unfortunately feathers a little on poor quality paper. Noodler's blue-black is a truer blue-black, a black with navy tones to it. It also feathers on poor quality paper. Both are wonderful inks.

If I recall correctly, both Aircorp and blue-black are eternal.

Not sure about blue-black, but Aircorp only qualifies as "Near bulletproof" - at least that's how it used to be listed in the Pendemonium catalog. Part of it can be washed off with water, as noted upthread.

Oops, that's what I meant.

Has anyone else had creep problems with this ink?? No problem with my Pelikans but creeps--almost FLOWS--out of my Sheaffer Triumph. Also smears like crazy if I touch it with a moist finger or paper towel.

OOPS several mistakes in my last post: the smearing comes only when using Rhodia pads. Also, it's a Sheaffer Touchdown. Should've known better. Anyway, massive creep with this pen. Wonder why.

I've tested this ink in several pens now. I'll have to put up more images soon. All in all it's a nice ink, just not my favorite color. It writes really well in all the pens I've tested it in:

Hero 330

Wing Sung 220

Classic 608

Pilot VP

Lamy Safari

Kaigelu 300 Calligraphy nib

Duke 1853

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
