My aunt gave me some time a go this lovely thing, called Rotring Tintenkuli. Yes, it is an oldy.

It writes beautifully, almost glides across the paper. I call it a FP with a strange nib, haha :happyberet:

 

Interesting fact is, that this pen was kept long time unused, so that remaining ink dried inside. When I got it, I just sucked some water in it (in order to clean it - soak it first) and tried to write with it. It worked. How amazing is that. :happyberet:

Having had the unpleasant experience of having to clean drawing pens (which are similar in principle), I can honestly say that yes, it is pretty amazing!

Having had the unpleasant experience of having to clean drawing pens (which are similar in principle), I can honestly say that yes, it is pretty amazing!

I had the same problems when I tried to clean the Senator. It took days to clean it.

 

Drawing pens as in architect pens? I know them well too, ok just from watching. My parents are architects and in "old days" everything was hand made, not like now with computers. The reason is the ink. Try to find a device for cleaning them via ionization. I will try to find the brand later on (and a pic hopefully).

 

Did you try to buy Rotring's Cleaning Fluid?

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
