I guess I'll toss my hat into the ring. I must warn that I haven't written a letter to anyone in ... possibly forever.

I'm 31, male, Michigan resident. My interests range from firearms, survivalism, cars (mainly Hondas and the like), computers, and of course fountain pens/ink/etc. I'm also known to speak for long periods of time about the impending zombie outbreak which I'm certain will occur very soon, and I read a lot of Stephen King.

If any of those subjects peak your fancy, drop me a PM.

Count me in!

I'm 28 years old, female, living in the Niagara Region of Ontario, Canada. I'm currently working at the branches of the local library system as a Library Assistant, so I spend a lot of time on the reference desk and doing storytime programs, and my educational background is in History and Museum Studies.

I'm a relative FP n00b, as well as an avid (some would say obsessive) knitter, reader, writer (short fiction and fanfiction), and play-by-post LiveJournal roleplayer. I love movies and TV (24, The Office, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Mythbusters and CSI:NY being the tv shows that I make a point to watch at the moment), my reading interests are all over the map and I love to travel when I can scrape the cash together. At the moment I haven't been too far afield, but I have a long list of places I'd like to go. I love hearing about how people live in other places and getting a feel for them; all the mundane and unique things that make different areas of the world--and the things that fill my brain with even more strange and near-useless trivia. :)

Hey :)

I like this idea.

Seeing as I'm sending postcards already, I'm going to "broaden my horizons" and write letters as well, aiming for about 5 a month.

So, me.... umm.

Hello, my name is Silke, and I'm addicted to fountain pens...

I'm 42, female, live in the UK with my long suffering partner, who endures my quirks... and has done for the past 22 years lol.

I work for a plumbing supply company where I do admin (boooring, but we have a good laugh at work usually) and when I don't work, I uh... write.

Novels, that is. Nothing published, but always writing. :) (Paranormal Romance, in case you wanted to know. I can't write stuff that doesn't have a body count and uh... yeah. *cough*)

Guess I should submit the stuff, but the thought of "putting it out there" is kinda scary.

I read a lot as well. And I play WoW. *blush*.

*eyes the above and thinks she's gotten very boring*

I enjoy photography, graphics (mostly 3D stuff), and my musical tastes are... diverse. :P From classical to heavy rock. If I like it, I'll listen to it. It's that simple.

So, anyway, yeah... if anyone wants to hear about my daily plumbing adventures (not!), and whatever the neighbors cat got up to... holler. :)

Add me to the list! I'm a retired academic, 51, married female living on the coast of North Carolina. Love old fashioned things like spinning, knitting, fountain pens and the ironical wit of Jane Austen (my husband fails to see the humor-I think it's hilarious). I have plenty of .94 stamps to use for mailing across the pond! I'd love to hear from you.

Think only of the past as its remembrance brings you pleasure. J. Austen

Hello

I would love to join in!! I used to love writing letters, all over the world, but that slowly fizzled out. My FPN profile gives you the basics of what I am about, but I would love to share reflections, opinions and musings wih fellow FPNers.

My work requirements vary in intensity, but I will always reply to anyone who contacts me.

I really miss the sense of expectation and anticipation (of a letter with a handwritten address) that comes from real correspondence!

Regards

Desmond

Hello everyone,

I'd like to join in too.

I've just updated my profile, so it's all in there; I'm pretty much looking for any excuse to write more (and buy lovely writing things), but mostly because I really miss getting proper letters in the mail.

My workload is up and down at the moment, depending on whether I'm on campus or on school placement (I'm a trainee English teacher) which will dictate how quickly I can reply, but I will reply to anyone who writes.

PM me if you're interested.

Please add me to the list as well. Writing letters would be a great excuse to try new ink and paper, especially since I very new to fountain pens.

I'm a 43 year old, married male with three daughters, who enjoys sports, computers and playing the Wii with the kids.

OK, I've been buying the pens and the ink, now I need more chances to USE them!!

I live just outside Greater London, in Kent, and it's amazing how close you can get to the countryside here yet be so close to the city. Grew up in the countryside - on the Isle of Wight - so glad to be back here! Moved here because I bought a rescued horse from Portugal - most of my free time now goes on looking after her. Fascinated by the mechanics of classical riding and communicating with another species! Also own - no, look after - two rescue cats. Oh, and a rescue boyfriend.

I'll be 50 in the spring, but am about 17 in my head .... I work as a newspaper sub-editor, often into the wee small hours, so sometimes have time to kill at work after the editions have gone (hence the number of pens I own ...)

Other interests that I don't seem to have enough time to pursue - reading (19th century novels are good, so are 21st century), walking, films (especially French film, er, noir), I'm attuned to practise reiki, like to learn new things!

So PM me and give me a chance to get out that teal and damson ink ...

Sue

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

I am a 45-year old female, single-white-straight-Catholic. I am owned by a six-year old neutered mutt of a kitty named Bruce. I am at a point in my life where something's gotta give. I know I am a gifted writer. A number of people have read what I write - poetic and non-fiction - and I need to do more. I'm currently working part time for a radio station in Kokomo - the city's name has nothing to do with the Beach Boys' song of years ago - and looking for full-time work because I really need the medical benefits. But I can write. Not sure what to write, been feeling rudderless. Poetry is a "yeah, sure" but submitting it is the tricky part. My faith means a lot to me, but how to convey words about it without continuing to preach to the choir? Fiction.... I hesitate and it's frustrating and I'm not sure why except that others' opinions still mean too damn much.

IRONY: I don't write nearly enough, yet carry a multitude of pens (all kinds, not just FP's) with me and a few notepads, too.

Write if you like. Maybe this is the spark I need?

Courage is fear that has said its prayers.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
