Levenger Skies of Blue

This is my first ink review and I've had a little trouble getting the scans to look right. Next time I'll try to put it onto one piece of paper. I noted that this pen had been unused for two weeks but forgot to say that I had absolutely no problem starting it.

I envy the blue tone of your Skies of Blue, because I also bought the ink because I loves the behaviour of Cobalt Blue, but my Skies of Blue looks to be watery and pale. Not a bit as bright as yours. I'm still asking what went wrong with my bottle

My cartridges are the same way, at least on Levenger paper (which seems to just drink up the ink).

However, I've got bottles of both Skies of Blue and Cobalt Blue on order because I read someone else on the board that mixed the two and liked the results, so I'm going to give it a shot. Let me know what you find.

I find this ink to be reasonably well behaved, but it does leave what I've written with a fine point nib a bit wider of line than most of my other inks--not terribly so, but noticeably. I do like the color. :)

My first bottle of Skes of Blue is a bit lighter in color. It also turns every pen I own into a firehose and feathers wildly on most paper. I like the color, so I bought a second bottle, which I have not tried yet. Maybe it will have more constrained flow.

This is one of my favorite inks and I use it in several of my pens. I have not found a difference between the bottle ink and the cartridges. I also use several Levenger True Writer pens and find the ink works perfectly in them. /Craig

This was one of the first inks I bought after getting back into the hobby (Obsession). I love the color and belongs in everyone's "Blue Section" but I had crazy feathering as well. I tried many pens, many qualities of paper etc. Same result. It really put me off Levenger ink until I read other reviews. I bought a bottle of Levenger Regal and it is a favorite without issues.

This sounds a lot like my experience. The color is great (a lot less purple than the OP's sample, in my experience) but even on pretty heavy paper it seems to bleed straight through. I'm trying to figure out if it's this particular color, the batch, or Levenger inks in general.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
