Office Depot 24lb Ink Jet

On a lark, I decided to put Office Depot's $6/ream paper to the test.

The 35% recycled fiber content of this paper makes it rather absorbent. I didn't have any problems with feathering per-se, but everything "fattened"; there was no crispness to the line or lineweight variation.

The nibs of a Pilot Petit and Varsity are hardly wide, but they wrote as if they were Lamy M nib pens on this paper. The Pelikan Pelikano Jr A nib came right to the verge of feathering.

 

The showthrough is about the same as on Office Depot's premium 24lb inkjet paper.

 

This paper is my preferred printer paper in my home office Canon Inkjet. It's bright. It's 24lb. It handles doublesided printing of text well. It's 35% recycled and it gives solid value for the money -- as inkjet printer paper.

 

However, as an FP paper, it's mediocre. It doesn't feather and is reasonably smooth, but that's about the only thing it's got going for it.

Also remember that since it is an inkjet paper the top side is coated.

 

I have this paper and while it does not offer a superb writing experience, the back side of the paper is much better.
