This is the 2nd of series of reviews resulted from my quest to find the best, most fountain pen friendly stationery (letter sheets). (See also https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...howtopic=46221)

Pen used:

Pelikan M200 0.8mm stub by Richard Binder Noodler's Luxury Blue

This is a very economic package deal which includes 50 letter sheets, 50 note cards, and 50 enclosures, all with blind embossed interlocking script monogram, and 150 matching envelopes.

When I tried the letter sheet initially I was very excited because it seems the paper is very fountain pen friendly. So I ordered blank sheets in case I need a second sheet to finish a letter. The plain letter sheets feather quite a bit, which lead me to believe that their paper quality is inconsistent. When I tested the foldover notes and the enclosures they also feather. Unwilling to give up, I ordered another set of letter sheets in pink, ink also feather on those sheets. Guess I just got lucky with the first batch of letter sheets.

Their paper is nice and thick, but the down side is that it is too thick for ruled line sheet to show thru and personally I still favor the thinner sheets for letter writing. Just doesn't seem like a "letter" anymore when the paper stock is so thick (more like a large piece of thin greeting card material fold in half).

Specs:

50 Letter sheets

6 1/4 x 9"

15.8cm x 20.8cm

50 foldover notes

10.2 cm x 12.7cm

50 enclosures

2 x 3 1/2"

5.1cm x 8.9cm

And 150 matching envelopes

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
