If you attended an LV Pen Posse, you might sample some of these fabulous inks. Thank you, Frank C!

This looks like it might be a good one for editing. (lack of bleedthrough). Have you seen if it bleeds on cheap copier paper(which is more what I'll be doing my slash and hack on)?

I still haven't picked up my first red for editing, but this might be it. To me a RED red, no question.

Also, any idea on water fastness?

Cheers,

Mike

Beautiful, beautiful red ink this is.

Hi Mike,

Just wanted to mention I have both Red Dragon, but also Diamine's Classic Red. While Dragon is gorgeous, the Classic is to my eye the true, prime color - fire engine red. You may want to check it out.

Happy slashing. :D

This is one of my favorite dark reds. I find it well behaved on cheap paper, and as a bonus it decreases the drying time! This is not an 'in your face' red, but maintains a nice boldness.

Based on this drawing from Pterdactulus, I don't think it's very water fast but it does wash beautifully.

Hi Amber,

thanks for linking the dragon. :)

Actually it has some water resistance when it dried once

It washes only good if it is still wet.

It is also my favorite red.

For a pure Red red I would recommend Diamine Poppy Red.

Poppy Red and Akkerman ChinaTown Red are really wonderful. I also love Levenger Cardinal Red.

My favourite of the Reds, this simply is gorgeous. It has a beautiful presence on white, cream and ivory papers and is delightful in the company of other colours! What happened to the little smiley that clapped?!

I got a sample of this red thrown in for free with an order of some ink. I really like it. I just bought a bottle. I enjoy addressing letters with this red with an inexpensive, modern flex pen. I look at the envelop, and it creepily makes me think that I cut my finger on the nib and saturated the feed before writing. On cheap envelop paper, it did feather a bit, but no feathering on Rhodia dot paper. I can't wait for the bottle to be delivered!

This is the only red I use for edits in my law office, and I think it works really well. It doesn't show through our copy paper at all, and stands out well. I use it in a Lamy Al-star with M nib, for what it's worth. Man, I love it.

Nice review. Thanks! Sorry, I must haved missed this one. I have the ink and i like it -- like Syrah -- but for corrections, I find that it's not bright enough. For those jobs, I use Poppy, Pumpkin or Wild Strawberry.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
