This is the most amazing pen I have ever held. It's huge, the term "oversize" is really accurate, as it literally dwarves a 149. Its style is heavy, but the pen isn't (too) heavy.

The craftmanship is astounding. Sculpture, lacquering, reference to a classic style, everything is so wow. I made lots of pictures that will describe this pen better than a thousand words.

The other pictures are

And here goes the writing sample:

P.S. I understand the style will not be to everybody's taste. Extremely negative comments (as it happened with the Visconti Forbidden City) aren't necessary. Thanks.

This pen's design follows the Empire style that predominated the luxury goods in Paris when the S.T. Dupont company was founded in 1872. The design is an hommage to S.T. Dupont's historic roots. The Empire style is ornate, heavily decorated, and at the high end more that a bit over the top ostentatious; therefore, the pen necessarily shares these characteristics. However, whether or not one likes the Empire style, I think this pen can be appreciated for it's craftsmanship and faithful execution of the style.

Despite generally prefering simpler designs, I actually like this pen (though it's beyond my current budget).

Wow that looks like a very special pen I could imagine a king using a pen like this. May I ask what that silver thing is under the number plate cover.

It's a rollerball section. You can use this pen as a fountain pen or as a rollerball, depending on your taste.

Thanks for the nice comments!

Actually this pen is a bit intimidating, it's still in the box, and I am not sure I am going to use it. I'm pondering about buying a little glass cover and make it throne on my desk. On my left. Because they say your weapon, in case of a zombie apocalypse, will be the first item on your left, and at the moment it's a book. I know the quill is stronger than the sword, but it might not apply to zombies ;)

Oh, my.... :notworthy1: I LOVE it, despite/because of the ornamentation! Definitely not a daily use item, but what amazing craftsmanship. I hope you take her out for a spin from time to time....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
