I received this pen today as a gift from a very generous individual that I am very grateful to! This pen is an exquisite piece of craftsmanship. It is indeed the ultimate writing experience. The pen is nice and long. Has a great weight to it and the detail is flawless! This pen is soooooo smoooooooth! I can't stop staring at it.

Enjoy (sorry about the quality, I didn't bother editing them, but will later):

Nice pen. Hard to tell from the pictures but is the lacquer deep blue?

Yes it is. Sorry, I didn't set up my lights, I just shot the pics in the dim lighting from my ceiling light.

That is a wonderful pen indeed. I am still waiting for mine to arrive (when I went to the shop, I tried one but there was a chip in the lacquer, so it is now being repaired). Then engravings on the section are very beautiful, and the contrast between the deep blue and the red lacquer are very nice. A real fountain katana !

Enjoy yours, I know I will enjoy mine :)

Wow is all I can say

Me too!

That's a beautiful pen.

Thank you. The pictures really don't do it any justice.

The lacquer is exquisite on these pens! The section a joy to admire as well. It really does remind me of a katana. I wrote a thank you letter with it yesterday and it just flowed and glided with ease!

If I have any complaints about the pen it's that the clip is too long which doesn't allow you to stand the cap up for pictures. Not that big of a deal.

Thank you all for the replied.

I thought this too at first, but then this pen is called the Samouraï. Living by the sword. The clip might be a tiny reminder ;)

This is a stunning pen. I am off to Paris in November and I cannot wait to visit the Dupont store. I will have to see this one in person!

I'm not in favor of natural selection. I'm just saying: Let's remove the warning lables and see what happens.

You might be disappointed, it is marked as "sold out" now, and I think it is only available in a few stores.

Currently using:Too many pens inked to list, I must cut back! :) I can guarantee there are flighters, urushi, and/or Sheaffer Vac-fillers in the mix!!!

Thank you for the vicarious thrill of enjoying your new pen, admiring your handwriting, and also wishing you many more generous friends.

Thank you, but I'm not greedy. Something of this nature will suffice as a once in a lifetime type thing.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
