You can add another: it's just that I've not had chance to reply to all your reviews yet! I think this is a really good everyday green ink and is one that I rotate with the Evergreen and Sherwood.

I like this dark green color. Too bad I ordered DeAtramentis black series blackgreen recently.

I don't like greens as a whole, however, this is the one green ink that I keep in stock and use regularly. It has all of the wonderful Diamine qualities for flow, lubrication, saturation and shading, and easy cleanup from the pen without any staining. Just an all-around excellent ink, and it's green!

Collection Counts: Cross-4, Esterbrook-15, Eversharp-1, Graf von Faber-Castell-1, Jinhao-2, Kaweco-1, Lamy-6, Levenger-2, Monteverde-1, Pilot/Namiki-3, Noodler's-1, Parker-18, Rotring-10, Sailor-1, Sheaffer-19, TWSBI-1, Visconti-4, Waterford-1, Waterman-7

Favorite Inks: Diamine, Levenger, Private Reserve, Noodler's Lexington Gray

Fabulous! I adore Sherwood Green. I love the moody but vibrant tones of Green Black though!

Bhavna,

Thanks for your review...... great presentation and content. Share your enthusiasm for Diamine Green/Black. A great all rounder; I have this as a fixature in a Pel M101/N with a B nib... they were made for each other. My other green indulgences are Meadow, Ultragreen, Appleglory & Woodland from our friends at Diamine and Herbin's Verte Empire and Lierre Sauvage.

Next time shopping at Diamine' on-line store, I'll take a closer look at Evergreen which TGC mentions above and which to date I have overlooked.

Thank you for your good review! I've been using this ink for a while now as a substitute for Herbin's Vert Empire (found sediment in three different bottles so I gave up on that ink!). Diamine Green/Black is a very nice color, flows well and is well behaved in my pens. I recommend it for anyone who likes a subtle, dark shade of green.

Falcon, thank you for your kind words. It sounds simply delicious in your pen! I couldn't agree more about Meadow and Woodland which just sings to high heaven! Have you tried Kelly Green? I look forward to hearing about Evergreen.

Thank you for looking! I'm sorry to hear about the sediment, did you contact J Herbin about this at all? There is a pinned thread from them dealing with ink issues and I believe offering replacements. As for Green Black, yes I agree about the flow and behaviour which makes it very attractive as characteristics.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
