Smythson (Yard-O-Led) Viceroy Grand

Smythson (Yard-o-Led) Viceroy Grand fountain pen.

Well, let me begin to say this:

Everybody has a dream. I write with mine.

It's a dream come true. I just got this, for me, extraordinary gorgeous beautiful fountain pen. (And the person I bought it from is just as extraordinary personality as of this pen).

And it's extraordinary in all qualities.

My very quick version of a review of the Smythson (Yard-o-Led) Viceroy Grand pen is ------------> AMAZING. Amazing x 10!

On a scale from 0-10 it's a 10 and beyond.

Smooth to write with. It flows, using my new Sailor Jentle ink, in this pen, but will it even matter which ink you use in this pen? What do you say when it's so right so you don't need to say anything? You shut up, kind of. Quality, QUALITY! This pen wont break because you touch it. It's not there to just look at, but it's to use. The beauty, my God, it's gorgeous in it's quality box. It's also personal, unique, even though many around has the same type of pen, it's not the same because Yard-o-Led made sure of that each little pen isn't the same. The pen writes, writes, writes and writes page after page after page after page regardless. It's all sterling silver.

Well, no need to talk, argue, selling this. No added junk or cheap solutions to make you buy this pen. The pen speaks for itself, really. This pen got integrity. It's not to bold, not too little. No, it's just there presenting itself in it's existence. It just is exactly what it is.

Summary:

I think that this is a very, very, very, very powerful little peace of beautifully designed silver pen, which writes beautifully page after page. It got more than the eye catches at first (comming from someone who was overwhelmed for weeks, blown away by the design).

I feel very humble and happy to experience this. My conclusion of it all is said in the picture below.

.

Fantastic. But which Viceroy Grand is it, the Victorian, Barleycorn or Plain?

And without pictures it never happened. :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Yes, pics please! I'm curious to see it.

I'm not in favor of natural selection. I'm just saying: Let's remove the warning lables and see what happens.

Isn't there a lined guilloche pattern unique to Smythson? Is this pen engraved with straight lines along the length of the barrel and cap?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
