Hello Again,

I offer a brief review of Diamine Sunshine Yellow with a brief comparison of Sheaffer King's Gold. I hope it is of use, and at the very least brings some sunny cheer! As always, I welcome comments and reflections.

Nice review! I wouldn't have thought a yellow ink could be so attractive. I don't currently have a use for a yellow ink, but it's good to know that this is available. And I really like your handwriting, consistent, easy to read, and with a nice style.

Neat review! What pen(s) are you using?

There are two inks strike me as good replacements for Sheaffer King's Gold: J. Herbin Ambre de Birmanie and De Atramentis Gold.

Fun review. I would never have thought a yellow ink could be useful. I like this.

Hi, glad you liked it! Thank you for your very kind comments and for reading the review.

Hi, the main review pen is one called Yiren (Chinese). The other colours vary from more Chinese pens incl. 149, x450, Wing Sung 036, Sheaffer Prelude and a Waterman Carene!

Hi, I would love to try DA Gold, but haven't found it in the UK yet!

It was such a pleasure doing this, I'm glad you liked it!

Yellow ink is great for mixing!

Oh yes!! I found incredible matches on the tissue as I was refilling various colours! Can't wait to mix my own King's Gold.

Great review thanks!

YW, I'm glad you liked it!

What colour paper was your review written on - is it "plain" white or a cream?

Hi it's plain ol' white Basildon Bond Recycled A5 size. It behaved SO well, I'm delighted! The orange is wild on cream paper, esp Conqueror.

DA are also in the EU (Germany?) so it should be fairly easy to buy directly from the manufacturer:

Thanks for your responding post. It is more versatile than I thought. On the list to try.

Hi, yes do try it, I was pleasantly amazed at the result. I found a thicker line far more robust and pleasant compared to a fine line. It is such a happy little ink.

Lovely ink and handwriting! I was surprised at how easy-on-the-eyes the color is. Some yellows are hard to read, but this one wasn't at all.

Wonderful review! Do you have any brown Diamine inks?? Perhaps mixing a small amount of brown with Sunshine Yellow will make a colour similar to King's Gold?

Thank you also for looking. Yes I do have some exciting browns, and my eye is on Ancient Copper and/ or Pelikan Brilliant 4001 both of which I love at the moment! Thank you for affirming my guess!

very good review  thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Outstanding! That looks like a yellow that one could actually use for correspondence, journal writing, etc. I may have to put this on the Wish List.

Thank you. It truly is a gorgeous colour that I have used quite a bit since it arrived. It does some amazing things on cream paper! Would love to hear of your experience when you get some.

Nice review never thought a yellow ink could be bright enough to see on paper.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
