A good purplish blue ink from xfountainpens. Constructive criticism on my handwriting would also be nice.

Thank you for a very original and useful review; interesting how the colour looks different in the splashes and the handwriting - which I find very legible (which is something very positive coming from someone who had 100% illegible handwriting).

Great picture--thanks for sharing.

I bought this ink expecting to put it to regular use. However, I find that I don't reach for it all that often--I think it's a little too light for my taste, so I'll probably gift it to someone.

By the way, was any consensus reached re: the Diamine ink to which Chesterfield Sapphire corresponds (since Chesterfield is rebranded Diamine)?

I haven't bought any diamine ink, so I wouldn't know what the correlations are.

I just got a tapered craft syringe from the art store to use for refilling cartridges, and found out that if one presses forward the plunger fast enough a mist can be produced for about 4 seconds - I was very bored :roflmho: . I thought it would be fun to make notebook covers/art with ink - a bit of inspiration from Gouletpens' logo.

The only Diamines I've that are relevant are these.

I haven't got the Imperial purple but I don't tend to use inks of that colour anyway.

I just got some Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue at the store today, and it looks almost exactly like the Chesterfield Sapphire - a pity, I was hoping for something a little more basic blue. Seems to be working well though, and for a 2oz bottle for $5.02 you can't really go wrong. The store I get it from for some reason has the pricing for 30ml bottles even though they're selling the 62.5 ml ones - not that I'm complaining. One of my friends also works there, so she often lets me use her %25 employee discount.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
