The Bird's new cloths....

Material is 925 sterling silver sleeve plated with 24K gold. This decorative motif is painstakingly engraved

by hand by the master. The design is inspired by the traditional Spanish Toledo metal work craftsmanship and

culture, hence the name Toledo. First such similar design was made by Pelikan in around 1931. Since the motif

is entirely made by hand individually by the master, each pen is therefore unique with little variation from

the other. Due to the high amount of work needed, it is believed that no more than 200 pieces can be made per

month. Each pen is individually signed off by the creator.

Now you need the M910 to make a pair. :) A king and a queen.

That's a wonderful pen, congratulations! Great presentation too. I am assuming is a 900, not a 700. Right?

Yes, that's a 900. The cap bands on the 700 is different, and there's no band on the turning knob. See picture below.

Pelikan's prey's on Fish.

Peregrine falcon can't prey on fish.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

The "Bird of Prey" is actually a type of star ship used by the Klingon empire in the Star Trek series.

Just finished watching the movies so you know where I got the inspiration from ..... LOL.

I am sure more birds will be joining my little empire in the not so far future.

very interesting post! Congrats on your new fleet member! I've always wanted to see some good close up pictures of the m900. I hope I will be able to afford one too eventually :)

I have a question about one of your pens. All of your collection looks very beautiful, but I'd love to know about one pen in particular. What brand and model is the pen that's in the second row on the very left in the 4th picture) the black one with a large gold design on the barrel)? It's beautiful! I've never seen this pen before. (I'm secretly hoping it's more affordable than the m900, but it does look very flashy and expensive...)

Cheers, Fran :)

If I only could I would have one too :cloud9: . Congratulations of your new Pelikan, it is (IMHO) by far the best looking pen made by Pelikan! I wish you the joy of using it often.

That is not just any Pelikan, in the same way that the watch is not just a Seiko, great choices both of them.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
