All my pels were baught in second hand and I never tried a brand new m1000 to be honest.

all three M1000 nibs I've used are quite soft.

 

oh, except the OM I had for a while - it was just awkward. Had to hold the pen sort of vertically. Awful.

 

THe Minuskin stubbed F was nice (toothy until I smoothed it a bit).

A regular F that was also very soft, not as soft as my medium.

What a lovely pen and good review. Thisis a pen that I have yet to experience but I am drawn by all that I read about the qualities of the nib.

After some trial and error, which means purchases and sale, I've finally found a few pens that really satisfy me. These include an MB 149, a Yard-O-Led Viceroy Grand Barley and the Pelikan m1000. As much as these other pens posses qualities that make me love them and keep them in almost constant use, I sometimes find myself wishing they had THAT NIB. I really have found that this nib (I also have a Fine) is one of the most pleasurable and satisfying fountain pen experiences that can be had today.

For me the M1000 is one of the best fountain pens that the market offers.

Big nib, nice feeder, piston filler, good overall size, reliable and elegant just Souverän.

It's less expensive than the MB 149 for a really good produced pen.

That is an interesting review of a great pen. M-1000 is an eye catcher pen with a huge nib.

Pelikan M1000 is one of the best pens made nowadays. This piston filler is the gold standard on the fountain pen world, IMO. The nib is awesome, and more flexible than my Namiki Falcon. Even the 3B is very soft! However I prefer the striated green pattern. Georges, thanks for the great review!

+1 I bought it new and immediately can feel the nib writes a bit soft (springy?) which I like.

Great review. I really must get myself a M1000. I have a M605 which is a good pen but having tried the M1000 briefly I have been convinced of the merits of the nib in particular.

Georges, wonderful set of reviews. I was comparing your 2009 thread using the Medium nib M1000 here, and they look quite similar. Of course that may just be the limitations of the ink, scans, lighting. I'll be interested to see how the M1000 O3B compares to a MB 146 O2B. I was also thinking of getting another with a smaller Fine or Medium nib, or even have Mottishaw do a custom italic of one.
