Although the barrel has ambered, it's still clear enough to see the ink level.

This is my first review, and it probably shows. I didn't talk much about technical aspects because I have no idea what they are, and I'm sure there are people on FPN who do and can explain it much more accurately than I can. Please let me know what I can do to improve to be useful to other readers!

I'll come up with something eventually.

Gorgeous pen, great photos, very nice handwriting that's super easy to read, and great review. Please keep em coming.

I have one of these (down from 3) and I LOVE it. It's one I don't think I'll ever be able to part with except for emergency situations of course. The nib is just... just nearly perfect.

Thanks for writing the review and sharing your enjoyment of the pen. I just got an Azure Blue Vac a couple weeks ago, and it was my first Vac, too. I'm impressed just as you are that at their age, these can look and write the way they do.

Nice pen! I have a black 1945 Vac Major that I love. Thanks for the review.

Great review! I sure enjoyed it!

An Azure Blue was my very first Vac a few months ago. Within a very short time I also had Vacs in brown, green, and gray. I'm still looking for a nice burgundy.

A thoughtful review. I do like vacs and my 1948 black vac is my current user pen atm. :)

That is one fantastic specimen you got there. I've tried my dad's Vac and it does have a good flex to it, even though it is a 14k. Great review and thank you! Great handwriting btw. :)

Life is like Chinatown signage, its cluttering, confusing but everything that you need is there, just have to look harder....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
