I believe I read that stamp was originally used to put a design on [communion?] wafers, perhaps to aid baking? It makes a nice looking seal!

stonezebra - Seems perfectly plausible.

 

farseer911 - If that is the original handle it just seems too ornate for meat tenderizer. But it definitely has that look to it as well.

 

That handle just looks so ergonomic and comfy for your hand.

 

Nice find whatever it may have once been. :) Can we see how it looks when used as a stamp? Or am I just being annoying now....feel free to tell me to shut up. :vbg:

It is a wax seal embosser - a wafer seal. Not because it was for embossing communion wafers, but because there was a subset of wax seals called wafer seals!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
