J. Herbin Amber - "les Subtiles" Series

This ink is from the J. Herbin scented series of inks, Amber color.

This ink bottle was opened before I received it and, over time, seems to have lost all it's perfume. Maybe there is some scent left, but I'm not very sensitive to ink odors anyway. It's supposed to be Orange scented.

Like the previous 2 J. Herbin reviews I've posted, this is a very pale color when used in a fine nib pen, but in a wet, broad nib there's some very attractive shading going on. The shading doesn't show up in the main scan, so check the high resolution close-up below. The color is very similar to the Herbin Ambre de Birmanie from their regular ink series.

I was quite keen on this when I read the selling description, but it seems far too pale now. It's just about O.K. in the Sheaffer but if it's that picky then I doubt that it's for me!

Shame about the bottle being open was rather hoping to get a jist of how the thing smelt too. Was it meant to be already open (borrowed)? Or was your seller naughty?
