Dollar Pen Clips

Brian Anderson

Recommended Posts

I vaugely recall seeing a thread somewhere on removing dollar pen clips, but couldn't find it in the Esterbrook forum. Maybe it was on PT.

Anyway, I have a pen I'd like to transplant a dollar pen clip on to. Anyone gone through this before I either try it myself or send it off for someone to do?

And no, before you ask, chances of finding a good cap with the clip on it are pretty slim. ;)

Best-

Sigh. Ain't life funny. I was looking through pictures I have, and noticed a fewof an Esterbrook that showed the 'Tabs From Hell'. I believe these are the tabs used to fasten the clip on a dollar pen. Perhaps if you search for that instead???

Anyway, I will try to find again and post the pictures, which were quite good, BTW...

Regards,

Gerry

Aaahhh, yes, the tabs from hell. I found one of them in my personal photo archive, but don't remember if there were any more. Thanks for the reminder. If there were more and you have them, let me know. :)

I'd post myself, but I'm off to pick up my weekly Friday Chinese dinner. :)

That's funny Antonios. Even funnier in that the thread that you referred to also contained a post where you had forgotten about a pen you had sent off, and that the thread had reminded you of it.

Talk about being taken back...

I did a quick search but didn't turn up the thread myself. Thanks for the reference...

Gerry

Hey, I know these photos :)  I posted them on Nov. 2004 :)  here. It was in one of my first postings here. Two guys name Gerry and Brian were alo posting there

Yeah, that's it! I found the second picture but not the first. Too funny, I expected to find this in the esterbrook forum, but after at least 30 minutes searching figured I read it elsewhere (well, I did!).

Funny how the mind plays tricks on you. :)

Thanks guys!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
