Noodler's Blue - Ink Review

So, I needed some ink. So I got Noodler's Blue. Pretty much the end of the story!

Why I like this ink so much?

1: It's Noodler's, and I LOVE Noodler's

2: I need to be able to write without feathering in my school notebooks

3: Borealis Black was much to strong for my school notebooks

4: It's blue! I LOVE blue! :)

Also I use a Canson Field Journal for ink reviews only because it is the SINGLE MOST ABSORBENT PAPER EVER!!!! It is ridiculous even international cartridges bleed through like crazy. I use this for the sole reason that if I find an ink that doesn't bleed through at all with this paper, it is perfect. I have yet to find that ink!

Also my first Ink review, quite brief. Not extensive at all, mainly for me to evaluate the quality of this ink. Which is really good :)

Hope you enjoy it!

Every time there is a negative in life there is always a positive. A failed test, a relationship gone sour. Whatever it may be, your life is not over. If you dwell on the negative you can`t see the world with the right eyes. There is a positive in every moment, even if it is small. Try your whole life to find that positive and live off of it and you will be loved. My blog... Check it!!!

In reference to your absorbant paper, have you tried Lamy Blue or Lamy Blue-Black (bottled)? I've used both of these inks even in some of my thin-paged Bibles with no problems. I use Lamy Blue more than any other ink, mainly for underlining & marginalia in books & for jotting notes.

Good first review.

The colour looks fine on this screen. Depending on the pen and nib size it can be darker or lighter.

I would raise a fuss if it looked like Tanzanite on my screen.

Yep, good blue ink from a great ink maker. I've had my bottle longer than some pens I've used with it. Now working a treat in my new Pelikan M805 with broad nib. Photo colour a bit more vivid than for real.

Big blue ink fan here, never used Noodlers Blue and wonder how it escaped my radar. Again Im glad someone found this review from a few months ago and put it back on top. And no to all you unbelievers, not all blues are the same. Nice review btw.

JELL-O, IT'S WHATS FOR DINNER!

That is a really nice blue! Is it water/spill-proof?

I have just recently started using blue again for my school paper. It feels quite academic.

Soli Deo Gloria!

No unfortunately it's a more conventional ink in regards to behavior.

  • 1 year later...

Just discovered one big advantage of non-waterproof Noodler's Blue. It completely and easily rinsed out of a synthetic material shirt after a rather spectacular accident with a Waterman's 52v with a very wet nib. Just a little spot spray with a conventional laundry stain remover and a cold water soak. Voila! Love this ink even more now.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
